The Fusion from Solid State Logic has been around since 2018 and was primarily marketed as a mix bus processor. As such it's easy to overlook the fact it can be used in many other ways, and this video serves as a little inspiration on other great ways it can live in your mix.

I bought the Fusion from SXPro the day it came out.. I’ve never regretted it, still use it on every mix I do.. When you us use the SSL MB Comp side chained to it, fantastic controlled energy!

Fusion bought from the guys at KMRaudio I added The Bus plus tbf Fusion is a can’t do without considering I have the big six , SSL have really come good lately great products great understanding of the market , come on Neve get your act together

Excellent video, I definitely did not know that there was an alternative mode to the comp section. I liked everything the Fusion added to the final mix except when you cranked up "SPACE", it seemed to give the acoustic guitars and bass drum a lot of mud. Did you like it as it was or would you have polished it later with another EQ?

Yes absolutely, you would simply bounce the audio through and record the treated sound, then re-use the Fusion on another track or on the mix bus. Or you can buy a few Fusions and use them all at once....!

I have Fusion, but never use vintage drive, because of the noise , unfortunately the noise is different in two channels and this is annoying, I sent two times to my official dealer of SSL and he said it’s normal for analog equipment, but it’s not. What Do you think about it?

As you can see in our video we are using LOADS of the vintage drive because its sounds brilliant. If yours doesn’t, it must be faulty and it is absolutely not true that it’s “normal for analog equipment” to sound different in each channel especially in a stereo unit like the Fusion. There are a couple of examples of boutique analog gear on the market with slightly varying noise floors in the left/right channel but they should still work and match perfectly in the sonics respectively.

I've heard a Number of people complain about the noise in the VD circuit, just to reinforce what you're hearing. One friend of mine is a mastering engineer and pulled the whole unit from his rack declaring it unusable. I wonder if it was a 'batch' issue?

Sounds like a fault to me, our unit is crystal clear. It's possible, given the sheer number of units out there, that a few may have or develop a fault. SSL are fabulous at resolving these sorts of things so anyone with such issues should contact their dealer and get it taken care of.

The Fusion is one of the best selling, most positively received outboard units every year since it came out, so that is definitely not the case. I think this video proves it is a top-drawer addition to any studio.

Just picked up a used fusion. Great deal cause it’s scratched and used… but DAMN! Wish I would of bought earlier
