@@n.shafarich That’s cool, everyone has their taste. This was EQ’d as described to bring way more “forward” and sweet. You can equally soften and darken tones with this EQ if that’s more your vibe. This was recorded with a U47 though, so it was really nice to start with 🔥

@sxproaudio8 күн бұрын
@@SilkRoadMedia2010 Lots; we are the main UK dealer for Thermionic Culture. The Phoenix is a cleaner, smoother sound than the Tubecore, which is much thicker, punchier and more colourful sounding. As such the Phoenix is more versatile, but not as aggressive or bold.

Recently bought an ARC studio and currently demoing a Nova in my control room with Unity Audio Boulder MK2s.... I have to say they are both incredible ...Trinnov a little more 3D, a little more accurate but it is quite marginal to me. Id put it at maybe 10-15% better, does it justify the price difference!?. Both sound way better than Sonarworks that I've championed and used for years. Surprised me in all honesty. I'm keeping the ARC for low latency tracking until Trinnov hopefully sort that out!

Excellent video, I definitely did not know that there was an alternative mode to the comp section. I liked everything the Fusion added to the final mix except when you cranked up "SPACE", it seemed to give the acoustic guitars and bass drum a lot of mud. Did you like it as it was or would you have polished it later with another EQ?

Thanks for the demo. The steps aren't linear, so no 1db steps, so would you think the 12db range is as suitable for mastering as the 6db range?
@sxproaudio28 күн бұрын
Absolutely spot on - I think the 12dB version is better in almost all cases to be completely honest; when you consider the curves it's capable of and the bandwidth of each band, the 12dB version capable of extremely subtle changes and even in extreme use rarely seems to do too much. The 6dB version in some cases may not quite do as much as you might need!

@DVDFRMN2 ай бұрын
@@sxproaudio how is 'mastering' going to compensate for not having "the best gear"? mastering doesn't compensate for 'imperfect rooms' . If your mix is imperfect, you cannot perfect it with mastering EQ, best you can do is tame a piercing flute and that should be done at mixdown...... mastering is unnecessary, it's a scam you all got conned into , like 'sun lotion' and 'nature identical flavorings'....... mastering comes from a time when an album was a collection of songs recorded in different studios with different backing bands and when songs were recorded in studios in one take without overdubs ..... 'mastering' was purely to make all songs of a comparable volume while making the 'Master' record which the record stamper is made from. They found you could use EQ to bring out or hide a certain instrument but that is it, you can compress your whole track if you like but that is compression, not 'mastering'

Decided to purchase IGS Springtime based on this video from SXPro and, have to say, it was one of the best decisions ever!! When it comes to the fullness and complexity of the real, physical response of the springs to the signal, I don't think I came across anything better (or even close) in the digital realm. I didn't really like spring reverbs before (in the plugin form) as they would have this weird nasal response, however, this unit makes spring reverb sound almost as beautiful as a plate one! More than happy with my purchase and with SXPro support!
@sxproaudio2 ай бұрын
Thank you David - I totally agree with you about how beautiful this sounds, and I have a similar experience with other spring reverbs and plugins, they often have a certain sound that limits how you can use them. THIS, however, as you rightly say, sounds beautifully smooth like a plate reverb and I feel like it's almost like a musical instrument in it's own right! Thank you so much for your kind words too!

@sxproaudio2 ай бұрын
It would definitely work amazingly in mid/side for sure. The high frequencies on this are magic and silky, but also extremely notable are the very low frequencies - they're really fat and warm without ever getting too boomy. Possibly very powerful for mid/side use, great thinking.

Awesome run though, thanks! How does this compare with the Heritage Audio Grandchild ?
@sxproaudio2 ай бұрын
Good question! It's not the same in many ways. Looking at the functions initially, the Grandchild is more faithful to the fairchild design, with fixed time constant presets, where the Tubecore has dedicated attack/release settings. Mainly, the difference is in sound and how you use it. A fairchild (and Grandchild!) normally shines when it is absolutely smashed, meters pinned to -20. You can't do this with the Tubecore, but you don't need to. The Tubecore oozes flavour with much less effort. In short, the Grandchild is more subtle and handles more delicate sources well, where the tubecore is for adding fairchild-like flavour to your audio but via different application method.

Hey there! How's the TYPE 20?! May i know a detailed knowledge of how well it goes for mixing perspective? Would you suggest any better monitor than this on the same price point.? PLEASE lemme know about this! Thank you!!
@sxproaudio2 ай бұрын
Great question! The HEDD Type 20 is a supremely flexible monitor that will likely please most who choose to purchase. They are quite tunable, and have plenty of power so work really well with room correction too. Furthermore, i'm aware HEDD are working on some exciting enhancements for owners of Type 20s and 30s which will elevate their functions even further too. I couldn't really suggest a *better* monitor at this price point, but there are certainly others that compete just as well such as the Eve Audio SC3070, Focal Twin ST6 and Dynaudio Core 47.

This is a really interesting comment, thank you! We did some interesting shootouts prior to filming this video and it was hard not to favour the springtime against other well known reverbs. In particular, we found that the Bricast M7 performed better than any of the M7 plugins, which sound identical on individual sources but within a mix were obviously superior when using the hardware. @AudioJanitor I bought mine through SX Pro. My opinions are not influenced by anyone. If it was rubbish, I'd say it was rubbish. But it isn't which is why I've installed it in my mastering chain.
