Gog damn AMATSU returns on Sunbreak!!!

Fun fact about Amatsu: It's not controlling the wind directly. It's only controlling the water vapour. It's technically constantly swimming, not flying.

If Amatsu comes back, they should change its localized name in "Water Serpent Amatsu". I mean, Ibushi and Narwa are based upon Fuujin and Raijin, the gods of Lighting and Wind, Amatsu is based upon Susano'o, the god of Storms and Sea. Also all three of them are Flying Fish Dragons, you could create a connection and making them a trio And maybe add another one based upon Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi, the goddess of Sun and Moon respectively... Also this way you would have a Serpent for every element (water Amatsu, dragon Ibushi, thunder Narwa, Ice/Fire Amaterasu-inspired and the other element for the Tsukuyomi one) As a side note the whole element serpent naming quirk gor Narwa and Ibushi is completally absent in the japanese version, it's a licalization only thing. On another side note, no AMATSU IS NOT THE CHILD OF IBUSHI AND NARWA THAT'S JUST STUPID.

Fighting Amatsu in Generations was always so intense for me And man do I love the fight The monster looks sick The attacks look sick The area and surroundings look sick And the music is GORGEOUS

This is one of the most memorable fight i’ve ever experienced, i had to restart the hunt many times before we kill him and it was hard. I hope to see him again but i’m not sure if he will return one day

Fighting Amatsu once again in sunbreak genuinely brought tears of joy to my eyes

Amatsu is EASILY my favourite elder dragon, the design, the atmosphere, the music, the mystique, he’s everything an elder dragon should be. He also highlights a problem I have with both Rise and Sunbreak. Elder dragons have been losing what makes them elder dragons. When I first saw Kushala Daora’s cutscene in Freedom Unite, this quiet, almost mythic moment that communicated that this thing was a step above everything else you’ve faced so far, I never thought I’d regularly be seeing it get ragdolled around by the likes of Espinas or Magnamalo. Feels like map dwelling elder dragons are just like any other monster now, and the big boss monsters are just an excuse for some “WOAH COOL AWESOME BRO” spectacle. I want something with the ancient, ambiguous, almost mythic quality of things like Amatsu or Ceadeus again.

Defeating Amatsu was such an epic experience... I stood against the storm and brought back the sun... also... Amatsu's echoing roars gave me chills everytime.

Honestly I don't even need a black dragon level threat as the final monster, I'd be happy with Amatsu

What's funny is that When I first played Rise and saw that first cutscene with something flying in the cloud, I literally shouted "AMATSU!"

Amatsu should return as Fatalis did in Iceborne, as a final challenge, worth of the lore and how much ass kicked back then I only beated it once in 3rd and I felt like a god lmao

Remembering the first Amatsu hunt back then was Crazy. It had a water beam (plesioth trauma) , it was floating like almost as if the skies were it’s ocean, it had a secluded area like the boss fights of akantor and ukanlos in MHFU, the area actually had gather able materials and ballista ready to fend off the boss, it had small but cool mechanics like the wind from kushala making the ballistas inefficient, and when it changes phases it’s move sets suddenly gets upgraded. Then finally when it flies up in the air you feel relief, because you think you might have won, but something wasn’t right as the quest complete hasn’t come up and the boss music isn’t cleared. Then when you finally look up at the flying leviathan a beam from the heavens descends upon you and breaks the very earth you stand upon. It was an intense battle for the first time , it really felt like fighting against a living calamity at the time of that monster hunter series.

The music and scenery after you hunt Amatsu will always have a special place in my heart, it perfectly depicts the phrase "The calm after the storm." I remember the first time I beat him I was so glad that I wanted to scream but then after seeing the skies clear up and the music playing, it just made me so calm and happy.

I love how older hunters were treated with such luxury with Hotspring and massive food portions (look at MHFU and MHW portions) and then there's Kamura Village's Hunter, who only got 3 dangos (6 maybe?) and a freaking tea

after seeing kagero's and utsushi's hunter notes published by mh social media, it has a high chance that we will see amatsu on subreak.

Bro I pressed on studying Japanese at age 11 just to play this game on my PS3💀 ( I had no exposure to emulation and patching at the time). My 1st monster hunter game and I'm glad someone's still talking about it. Watching Amatsu gracefully swim will always be a spectacle. It's a shame that Amatsu won't be in Sunbreak. Truly a missed opportunity. Great vid!

Hello! Filth fleeter/rise hunter here. Rise is my first MH game and I really enjoyed it so much that I even bought some of the past few games. World/IB, GU, 4U and the newly released MHS2. I just want to say that I really enjoy looking back at the previous monsters and hear stories from veteran hunters on their time hunting them. Honestly I would love to see this monster to come back and have a turf war with Narwa and Ibushi, imagine the chaos they would cause?

I have been a fan since 3U and I always wanted to fight it after seeing old videos on it, but I gave up trying to get a copy or the game, both because it was really hard, and I couldn’t read Japanese. But when I was playing GenU and I saw it’s icon I got so excited

Ah, takes me back. I'm not an *old* player - I started with 4u, and never really got to Elder Dragon-tier fights - But whenever people talk about the enviornment of these games, I'm alllll there for it.

I love this fight, and is definitely one of my favorites. The themes, the atmosphere, everything is wonderful. I even love how it's still the only monster with its own unique "Quest Clear" theme. It's also awesome that it's a WATER-elemental monster. Water as an element is fiercely underrepresented in elder dragons and final bosses, with Amatsu being the only one that actually USES water as its primary weapon. For the other mainline final bosses (both Village and online), we have: Monoblos - None Fatalis - Fire Lao Shan Lung - None Lunastra - Fire Crimson Fatalis - Fire Tigrex - None Akantor - Dragon/Fire Ukanlos - Ice Ceadeus - None, although aquatic Alatreon - All except Water Zinogre - Thunder Ivory Lagiacrus - Thunder Dire Miralis - Fire Shagaru Magala - None Dalamadur - None Rusted Kushala Daora - Ice Gogmazios - Fire Glavenus - Fire Nakarkos - Dragon Valstrax - Dragon Ahtal-Ka - None Zorah Magdoros - Fire Xeno'jiva - Fire/Dragon Shara Ishvalda - None Magnamalo - None Narwa - Thunder Malzeno - Dragon(?) Gaismagorm - None So that's ten non-elemental (weapons being Dragon-element aside), ten Fire, six Dragon, three Ice and three Thunder. I'm counting Alatreon as Fire, Dragon, Ice and Thunder all at once since it uses these elements in roughly equal amounts. Yeah, Water doesn't get no love, which makes Amatsu all the more special.

Honestly is a massive shame that amatsu wasn't in rise seen as rise is basically a spiritual remake of portoble 3rd in the same way world was for the Orginal monster hunter, And if rise had been given a proper title update cicle like world wouldn't amatsu have been the perfect final challenge for us before sunbreak

Just imagine if we get Amatsu in a title update in Sunbreak and would get some new moves, like an ultimate where it utilizes its ability to control storms

Amatsu looks like it could be the equivalent to Safi from World. In the same way Safi is the adult version of Xeno Amatsu would be one of the children Ibushi and Narwa were trying to make.

Amatsu is the most beautiful monster for me and the thing that made me fall in love with Amatsu even more was it's roar, but I don't know if you can consider it as a roar because it's just so beautiful. I've been wishing for Amatsu's return since the release of MHW but sadly it never happened, but I'm still hoping and will always wait for it's return.

I remember fighting g rank amatsu with some friends and it was absolutely crazy. Honestly wouldn't mind seeing it back considering ibushi/narwa i think use an updated skeleton for it, or at least a similar one.

Amatsu was one of the first Elder Dragon I ever saw, and really wanted to get the opportunity to fight it. That opportunity didn't turn up until Generations. While it wasn't as tough as I had expected, I loved the fight and the monster anyway.

Amatsu weapons armors looks so cool compared to narwa ibushi equipament

Ibushi and Narwa didn't disappoint, what was disappointing is showing ibushi and narwa, but there was no Amatsu. IMO amatsu should've been there not as part of the duo but just because we already have basically amatsu's skeleton in the game, they just need to add new moves

this brings back memories, i remember playing portable 3rd when i was little, i was playing the japanese version (i dont know how the game store got the game but who cares) without even knowing how to read japanese but i managed to beat the game somehow, they got a small village and a short story but its a really fun journey.

Even if I can one versus one every monster in all monster hunter games, I still soil my pants about how intimidating they can get. I mean, I had gone toe to toe with the eye of calamity itself, the storm incarnate, one who's a moving mountain, one with a huge, insatiable hunger, and so on... and still get intimidated by a damn Rathian urgent quest whenever I restart progress. Their sheer strength, challenge, and the LENGTHS (Looking at you, plates/gems) you'd had to get through in order to beat them is unparalleled. And thats the beauty of Monster Hunter.

Amatsu is one of my favorite monsters, so please Capcom, give him back to us!

This is so emotional... MHP3 was the time when i started playing monster hunter and unfortunately it is the only one i have played so far :( I remember it was during middle school summer holidays and i always begged my cousin to carry me on different hunts and it was such a good time.. Now growing up i actually dont have to hide my PSP like back then whenever my mom enters the room to check if i was doing my homework xD and honestly speaking i definitely have more free time to play but it just doesnt give off the same feeling anymore. Its not that monster hunter has changed anything i think it is just that the good old days are not around anymore

portable 3rd on 3ds in japanese was my first monster hunter game, from there i was addicted to the series. Was shock no new version of Amatsu in sunbreak seeing the them and such.

Rise would have been the perfect game for it to come back

Still my favorite monster, obviously for partly biased reasons since I started in P3rd. It just looks cool, has the best roar,, great songs, awesome theming, and of course the clearing storm when defeated.

Ah I miss the old days, I still have mhp3rd in my old psp and still have the save file it has more than 500+ hrs of gameplay, it took me about 35-45 mins to beat Amatsu because I play it solo and no one's around the neighborhood who plays mh. I'm playing mhrise(not sunbreak yet) in my switch still waiting for the Amatsu return. Mhp3rd was one of my memorable mh in the series and still surprised me how optimized it is in psp despite the hardware limitations, it was a huge upgrade in both graphics and combos from mhfu to 3rd.

Missin the old days hahaha i played mhfu till my psp broke down the time it got released and nowadays i play with my cousin using emu mhp3rd and also recently finised mhw iceborne seeing how the fighting styles roles diff from the past mh is kinda bringin me to my childhood grinding and farming for good loots with the boys

I feel like this will make a come back in sunbreak for the last title update. It would just make sense...like mentioned in the video after the fight the storm clear out and the sun shine once again. What better way to end the sunbreak ark by having the last fight and then seeing the sun again.
