Question: Can a believer still have assurance of salvation if he remembers a time in his life when he was more godly than he is now?
In this video both Paul Washer ‪@Heartcrymissionary‬ and Michael Durham ‪@realtruthmatters‬ give a response. This was from the Q&A during the 2021 Fellowship Conference.

Wow. I needed to hear this. I have been so ungodly since the pandemic started. Prior to, I was so on fire for God. I felt His presence all around me, I was learning and growing in my studies of the Bible, I was so interested in the things of God. Then slowly my desire went away, to the point where now I can barely concentrate the few times I do pick up the Bible to read it. I’m so glad I saw this. I was beginning to feel like maybe I was a false convert because I haven’t been producing ANY fruit. Now I am sure that the good work God started in me is still being worked out. Even when I don’t feel it. Praise God.

Don’t twist what they were saying. It seems like some brethren’s job is to accuse their brothers of not producing enough fruit and questioning their salvation. The Bible clearly tells those who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior that HE is the judge of that and to check yourself and your motives in your heart. Words out of mouth are words of restoration and lovingly privately correct your dear brother who you love.

Whenever this same issue crops up in me, I remind myself that my salvation lies in Christ alone. After all, we are saved by grace through faith, not by works (Ephesians 2:8). Salvation is by God alone. Like Paul Washer said, all we contribute towards our salvation is our sin.

@@theforeigner6988 well Jesus was clear in Matthew 5 that if we look at a woman to lust after her we have already committed adultery with her in our hearts, I think theres a difference between acknowledging a woman's beautiful and lusting after her, take for example genesis 29v17 in the bible says Leah had weak eyes, but Rachel was lovely in form, and beautiful. So I don't think its wrong to notice that a woman is beautiful it's how God made us to be attracted to the opposite sex and its healthy but having said that its sin to lust after a woman other than your spouse looking at her butt I think would be to lust after her, thankfully we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ and washed by his blood so if you sin in that way confess it to the Lord and ask him to help you not look at a woman lustfully or as a object to pleasure oneself but as a respectable human being made in Gods image, I speak for myself in this aswell I to have difficulty in not sinning in this way.

We do contribute to sanctification it says in Romans 6:19 that by presenting our members (our body) as slaves of righteousness leading to sanctification. Sanctification does come unless we submit to God's ways through the grace he departs into us. Buts also true that the process is painful because we do see how unholy we are as we go through the process. But like a healthy tree the fruit must come which is love and holiness.

“We contributed nothing to our salvation; not even our sanctification”. Wow, these are strong words. I think I largely agree, in the sense that apart from God, there is no salvation. And every good work we do, we do by the grace of God. But we contribute nothing? This is hard for me to wrap my head around. Can we at least say we cooperate with God’s grace?
@SlavesOfChrist116
@SlavesOfChrist116 3 жыл бұрын
The only thing we contribute is the sin that nailed Jesus to the cross. 2,000 years ago you weren’t there, Christ suffered the wrath of God in our place alone. The Just for the unjust to bring us to God and no one can come the Son unless the Father draws Him. So even though you feel like you contributed, It was God’s Grace working in you first. Grace and peace. 🙏

I think this statement is dealing with the ultimate scope of Work of God in its eternity sense. Just as Paul burst into praises and gave all credits to God in Romans, “all things are from Him, through Him and for Him”. It is a foundational knowledge and understanding of our position and relationship with God. Based upon this knowledge, we shall later approach our responsibilities and doings. This then we do not fall into the danger of self exaltation and giving credit to man.

The Shunammite woman 2 Kings 8:1-6 God will take us through a famine to show us our weakness. But if you are His, through famine you will see a greater revelation of who Christ is and what it means to be His and made alive through Him. 7 years wandering in the land of the Philistines, the land of evil. No prophets in the land. No word of God being declared. Surrounded by evil. Yet when she returns it was if she had never left, as if she herself had been sowing the entire time. For she reaped as if she had been sowing the whole 7 years. This is what angels long to look into. The sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. How can it be that one reaps so abundantly without sowing? Christ. Him. All of Him. He is everything. He is the treasure. He really is beyond all that we can hope for.

This is such an important question. Thank you for making a video on it! Somebody asked me recently, "How do you get saved and stay saved?" I had to think about it and then answered this way: Choose to accept Christ as your SAVIOR to "get saved" (justification), follow Him daily as your LORD to "stay saved" (sanctification). This is because of the three parts of salvation. 1. JUSTIFICATION We have been saved (past tense) from death and hell by Christ's sacrifice on the cross. 2. SANCTIFICATION We are being saved (present tense) from our sins as we daily allow Christ to live in us and mold our characters. 3. GLORIFICATION We will be saved (future tense) from these corruptible bodies, corruptible minds and hearts, and the corrupting influences is sin and Satan when Christ returns. In this sense, salvation in an established fact, an ongoing process, and a future hope. How would you explain salvation? John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

@@TheLampVideos I would just ask this, what does the Bible teach? It's very clear that if God did not predestine any, everyone would go to hell. It's the mercy of God that he opens the eyes of any. And yet we are to go preach to all creatures. Too many people wrongly understand the sovereign electing grace of God to think it does away with man's responsibility. We have to be balanced biblically. Sorry I can't add more, I'm doing a voice text to speech for my phone.

The answer for assurance is simple. Do you believe the Gospel? If so you are saved. Work’s cannot prove or disprove salvation. Anyone can do good works, it’s subjective and unrealizable. Teaching like this leads to more doubt and more harm than good. If you’re looking at yourself and your works to assure you that you’re saved, then you are not trusting in Christ alone. We’re getting justification and sanctification mixed up. You must have be justified by believing the Gospel alone. Sanctification is supposed to occur afterwards and the believer should grow. It is not a guarantee that they will grow, as they still have free will. 1 John chapters 1-4 deal with the evidence that you are having close fellowship with Christ, not whether or not you have salvation. 1 John chapter 5 deals with assurance of salvation and it says that if you believe the Gospel that you are saved. Stop looking at your works for assurance. If you keep doing that you won’t have any. I know firsthand how teaching like this causes problems. It absolutely stunted my spiritual growth, nothing but fear and anxiety. Just ask yourself whether or not you believe the Gospel and you will have your answer.

Every Christian tells me look to God for your worth and see you worth and see beauty that he sees in you through his eyes but that's so hard to do when you realize to yourself you are working so hard to gaze upon Jesus eyes and look to him for your worth and see yourself beautiful in his eyes whereas you yourself think you're ugly and majority of the people do and the hardest part and why I say I dont want to look to Jesus or God for it is because the truth is God thinks all his other children and daughters are worth dying for too and he loves them and thinks his daughters are beautiful but not just him thinking they are beautiful because in reality they really are beautiful because he actually not just think they are beautiful he even made that a reality for when he made them so he thinks they are beautiful and they really are though but when it came with me that was never to be my reality because though he thinks I am worthy and beautiful he didn't make that a reality for me so its a contradiction and I could never see my worth in his eyes I'm an adult now and no one had ever liked me not even the nice guys. But it hit me so hard to know that the person I genuinely liked my friend didn't like me he was someone who loves Jesus and is kind but he likes a girl who is pretty and positive and super nice . He only told me I was beautiful because he didn't ever want to hurt my feelings and make me feel bad about my self even though it's not true at all he was just being considerate of my feelings but here it hurts. Because that's my reality The rhing is I think God's messing with us he tells us he makes everyone all equally beautiful when that's not really the case. Some he made so andnothers live with whatever they get handed on as fate would have had it. Well even if one is ugly God being God would still say they are beautiful just because he is really kind even though they are not and I know he meant beauty not in terms of the fact someone is beautiful but just because they are made in his image just because they are living being is I know what he means by all being beautiful though one being flat out ugly. I never wanted to be me first of all I am as ugly as can get and I'm also a very slow learner I am dumb and process things really slow so I am the target of ridiculement. I never wanted to exist and I never pictured that when I did this is how I would turn out that out of all the things I could ever be this became me. I know its the heart that counts the inner beauty of a person but reality is even if I go to heaven I'd still be me there too forever I'd still be the person I am which naturally very ugly in heaven for all eternity forever. Like I know ill worship him and all but it hit me that if im this way now and hate myself and hate how I look and am for life and for eternity also ill still ha e to deal with myself because I'm forever a me and forever will be an ugly Asian forever and ever when I don't ever want to deal with me anymore because it's painful and I never want to be me I never could fathom the thought. But my question has always been why has he made some of his children very beautiful and me just this it's so hurtful and a slap in the face. I'm not conceited for a person but it's hard when he made many who are beautiful and do have kind loving hearts and me I have to bear with what is that im ugly but he thinks I'm beautiful for the simple fact I bear his image. It's hurtful when you love someone who doesn't love you back because he loves someone who is beautiful and kind and nobody has ever liked you before and evergones underappreciate you and no where near your heart can you find it to love you. I think God, I'm sorry to say this is sooo messed up to think its okay to force me to exist and be here and turn out the way that I am because I'd never imagine I'd become this person but I did. I never wanted to be me but what does he do? Force me into existence and force me to be me and this is the case that I'll have to deal with forever. But when I want to take my own life upon my hands I can't? So people get forced to exist when they don't even want to let alone be themselves and look and be the way they are but all this is out of their control and they want to end their lives and stop existing because they have a right to be non-existent since they get forced into life, forced to turn out the way they do and be themselves and force upon alot of things beyond their control but who gets to be them God or them? Them. Who gets to carry out and live their life God or them ? Them so why doesn't God thibk its okay to make someone who doesn't want to exist and be themselves go ahead and take it upon their hands to end it and go nonexistent when all this is force upon them and so is looking the way they do, their race, who they are, everything about them and coming into existence is all forced and shoved for them to carry out so very well they should and I should have a right to end and go nonexistent with a me I never wanted and a life I never even asked for because nobody deserves to be tortured for life being something they never wanted to be and carry it out forever when it's not their fault they just got handed the wrong fate of things. How does god even ever thinks it's okay to decide ill make some people in this world really beautiful and attractive whereas others are just average and not anything beautiful to look at. Like I understand its our character that counts but reality is it's hurtful why God is like this because this is tied into a person's identity and makeup as a whole human being as well as their race this things go hand in hand as the overall design of a human and it's sad when people get forced and handed the worse and of things whereas others get handed it well, I mean if God so loves everyone that treat it like he does make sure everyone is created all equally beautiful and made with care because that's not how it is so we all have to deal with how we are for all eternity. For whatever reason God thinks it's okay to make beautiful people who can have beautiful hearts and some of us such as myself ugly and mediocre never could understand. Realize that beautiful attarctive people can be with Jesus and in heaven still beautiful as themselves and someone like me can go to heaven and still forever be this ugly Filipino person I am. What if I never ever wanted to be me did god ever consider that? It's an insult when he thinks it's okay to have made alot of his children beautiful and very attractive and thinks their beautiful and made that into a reality for them and why some just had to be decided upon God to be made ugly or mediocre very less than the others he so chooses to lavish his design upon without holding and they too can have beautiful hearts also and live a life of being love by God and having people love them and they can learn to love themselves too.

Hello. I think you miss the point. You are beautiful. If you think you arent is because, the social and the medias want to tell you that, who put the line betwen beauty or ugly? Im ugly too hahaha, and that stop to bother me when I realize I was looking to me and not looking to Jesus, my ego make me feel ugly because others are "beauty" that was a sin I confessed to God. But that is not the important things my beloved sister, and Jesus was ugly in the eyes of the others too Isaiah 53:2‭-‬3 kjv For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. I hope you stop to see your mirrow and star to look the cross. God bless you. I love you and God love you too. If you want add me on fb and we keep talking. 💐

I like the answer, for me to not look in the mirror but to look at Jesus. Those in heaven do not perceive outer beauty, but inner beauty. This video also spoke to me today. Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. I do have a question for you though; are you upset because a beautiful man is interested in someone else OR are you upset because an ugly man is interested in someone else? Also, how interested are you in ugly men? When you meet a man, do you look at his character instead of his looks? Can you fall madly in love with an ugly man because of his character, and will you see him as beautiful in your eyes? Will you love him and convince him of his "true" beauty?

@@soniakruger8098 personally I wouldn't think I can because I too struggle with this and so having someone who is struggling with this issue it'll be hard to lift that man up but also because I don't think I can for any guy not even if its a guy who I like and in a scenario likes me back because I wouldn't be able to make both cases happy ultimately due to the fact that I never can accept and like myself so how can I for another... but all in all I think God should've made everyone equally beautiful and attractive and why he thinks it's okay to make some so and the rest not so is messed up especially because along with the heart our race and how we look do play a part in the makeup of our individuality as humans.

@@magdonysperezestrada1942 that is true but I don't think that social media and standards of beauty is the reason, like yes it has amplified the extremity of beauty nowadays but I'd like to even point out that even if social media, television, magazines where all nonexistent and standards weren't made it is still true that one can see someone made by God beautiful and see it clearly and see another opposite of that clearly too. For example even in the Bible it points out the differentiation between Rachel and Leah. Rachel was describe as to being beautiful in appearance and figure and Leah was described as being not so infact nobody wanted to marry Leah so the father had to do a plan to get Leah married too and secured. In the reference there it didn't mention that God made both women equal in beauty and just having different unique features that are beautiful, no it specifically says one was pretty in great extent whereas the other was unattractive. And during that time social media, magazines, television didn't even exist. So as to why God is like this I never could understand.

Hello, God does love you. I hope to encourage you to see that true beauty is found in God not in ourselves. Know that I say all this out of love. You wrote that you feel God is messing with us my saying He makes everyone equally beautiful, I am curious where you were told this idea because it is not true. God loves all His children equally, this does not mean He made everyone equally beautiful. I hope you will find what God says in scripture encouraging, "Beauty is vain and charm is deceitful" -Proverbs 31:30 and "Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart" 1 Samuel 16:7 This is great news to everyone, God does not care what we look like, He cares what we think about Him. Remember that people's opinions of you do not matter, only God's does and He loves using unexpected or unpopular people to do His will. I know you feel it's unfair that you exist, but the reality is the most unfair thing is that God is not worshipped and obeyed as He deserved. I say this because I love you and want you to know the truth. Do not look to yourself and people (who's opinions don't matter), but look to God. In heaven we will be consumed in the worship of God not concerned with ourselves. Remember God is good and just and everything He does with a purpose, be careful not to blame God. If you turn to Christ He is willing to give you joy. Today will soon be over, but eternity will soon be hear. Please don't wait turn to Him and He will give you rest from your worries.

Well.... "As in the first Adam ALL died (lost the divine nature), so also ALL were made alive IN Christ to walk in Zoë = divine life again". Certainty. You already are IN Christ. Yay! What lots of people (even pastors) don't (yet) understand. God created us according to His own image and likeness. Godly. Mankind/the first Adam fell. The image of God in man got lost. That's why there is all this predicament on earth (selfishness, greed, lust, wars, sicknesses, death, etc). We are all born into that mess. For the fall of man a perfect atoning sacrifice had to be made.... that is what God did in Christ. With His own once and for all perefect sacrifice, He paid the debt for the fall of man for us, so we can be indwelled by His Spirit again and finally receive the divine life of the ages back, the first Adam let got of in the fall of man. An amazing act of grace and love by our creator. That is what you see happening in Christ's first disciples. They too healed all and walked in unselfish love. And yes.... that is still avaible today. The holy blood is in place, the Holy Spirit is here to give us understanding, power and transform us back to origin. Not to be debated about, but to be embraced and be-come. So: The Kingdom of God already came. Through Christ, in Spiritform, in those that understand. Hence the divine healing miracles we experience. God manifested in Christ to give us back the divine life mankind lost in the fall of Adam. Christ, the exact image of the invisible God. The image we were created after in Gen 1. The image we lost in the fall of man. The image that can be freely restored by Christ's blood and Holy Spirit working IN us. What a plan. What a solution. What a love. What a God. Jesus is amazing. It is the ultimate conclusion of the word and plan of God. God came full circle. He Himself stooped down from glory to restore us back to original created value: Christlikeness. Walking in divine healing power and unselfish love. Jesus, born of the Spirit of God, filled with the spirit of God. The "Son" of God, the incarnated word, God in the flesh. For three years He healed all, raised the dead, casted out demons, controlled nature, spoke pure divine truth. He said: "Follow Me. If you see Me, you see the Father. The Father and I are one. The glory I have IN My Father, I give to you. It pleases the Father to give you His Kingdom/Holy Spirit/divine nature. I will send Holy Spirit, the same as Me, He will be IN you, guide you into truth and give you explosive power. The same miracles i do, you will do too, because you will understand that the Father is IN Me and I am IN you. Freely I give you My Kingdom/Holy Spirit/divine nature, heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, freely I give, freely share" Etc, etc, etc. I have experienced thousands of beautifull healing miracles through the power of Holy Spirit IN me already. Broken bones, cancers, covid, all kinds of infirmities healed in seconds. Demons manifesting and casted out by a simple "get out, in Jesus name". Jesus. De name above all names. In Him all power and wisdom is sourced and.... He calls us one with Him. God in man and man in God again. C'mon Jesus!! So.... again: God stooped down IN Christ to restore us back to Gen 1:27 were He said: "Let us make man according to our image and likeness and let them have authority.....": walk as Christ. Christ, the exact image of the invisible God. The image we were created after and being restored to by His atoning blood for the fall of man and indwelling Holy Spirit. You are free to receive this original divine life of the ages by Holy Spirit of Christ/God. Ask Him to guide you into truth. Read the Gospel of John and fall in love with your creator. You are not made for the fall of man and its effects, but for the image/glory of God and to walk like Christ. Holy Spirit is the guide and transforming power that will get you there. Amazing grace. A big leap in faith can be made when we start realizing we are already IN Christ, IN the last Adam. Free from the fall! Loved! Growing into awareness of our new (yet old) godly identity. Changing by Holy Spirit. The most fullfilled life ever. Paul healed all on Malta. He understood and wrote: "As in the first Adam ALL died (lost the divine nature), so also ALL were made alive IN Christ to walk in Zoë (= divine life) again". "IN Christ (the last Adam) we are co-cruisified (dead to the fall and its effects), co-raised (justified/made righteousness, holy, blameless, above reproach), co-seated (one with Him)" "The fullness of deity dwells in Christ and YOU HAVE BEEN MADE COMPLETE IN HIM, who is the head of every principality and power". So.... thank you Jesus! Thank you for redeeming me from the fall of man. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that makes this new (yet old) divine life come alive in me. You are amazing! In the shadow of Peter the sick healed... He understood too and wrote: "By Gods power (Holy Spirit) and knowing Christ, we have become partakers of the divine nature and have escaped the fall of man". The divine life of the ages has been returned to us by Jesus once and for all perfect atoning sacrifice for the debt of the fall of man and His indwelling Holy Spirit in us. Jesus/God is amazing!!! Ask Him to give you revelation and change you to the way it was before the fall of man: Christlikeness. He will do so. For it is written: "the Spirit brings forth after His own kind". "I have come to give you Zoë (divine life) in abundance...."
