You could even take it Christmas by just using the moss with Christmas ribbon and mini ornaments like you would use on a mini Christmas tree!

Your hydrangeas are beautiful. You have to respect a plant that gives you pleasure in all seasons. Our temperatures are -40 here in Canada - extreme cold even for us, but when the sun shines on the snow that sits on all my winter interest it’s magical. Here’s to a fabulous year of growing for all of us in 2022! Thank you Laura for your inspiration on the coldest of winter days.

My big leaf hydrangeas boast those beautiful colors; I cut them in late fall (northern Michigan zone 5) and mound them in a wire basket on my bedroom dresser. The color lasts through the winter and they are quite beige by the end of next summer.

@@paulet990 You can use the Mod Podge spray to preserve the color and keep them from falling all over the place. I also use it a lot when I buy things with glitter. It keeps the look and no mess.

Hi Laura, here in the uk my hydrangea always change to the muted aged colours. Before Christmas I cut some stems and place them in the pot near the front door ( unprotected area ), they are so pretty. I have discovered that if left until spring they root. After frosts I remove them, trim down and plant in small pots. So far I have grown 4 NEW plants and given them to friends, all doing well and last year they flowered. Love from the uk. Jude x

These turned out so pretty! There you go again, inspiring us to keep moving (in this winter) and creating beautiful things for our homes! Now, if only I had hydrangea blooms to work with and the deer had not eaten them all! We planted hydrangeas in our new garden last year, and sprayed them with deer repellant and was constantly putting down “remedies” to keep them away, I think this year we are going to have to fence them off! I’m determined to have blooms at some point, just so I can work on this project!
