I am a Stage 4 carcinosarcoma patient in NYC. I checked out surgeons in 2 other hospitals before going to MSK. Wasn’t impressed. Went to MSK. The surgeon, Dr. Dennis Chi, said he had seen tons of people worse off than me. He was like, I could do this on my lunch hour. And he did. He removed the primary cancer and debulked 11 spots in my abdominal cavity. 6 rounds of chemo later, I have no evidence of disease. MSK is mostly amazing to work with. They got my surgery scheduled very quickly, so be prepared. On a lighter note, the inpatient food is so good! Room service. You choose from a big menu, and they bring what you want. I only wish I had been hungrier when I was there! Happy holidays to all you Brodie’s. We’re all out here cheering for you!

I know of a little girl from SC who had neuroblastoma and was treated where Kendall is being treated. This child had a rare side effect to the chemo and her liver completely shut down and she was in multiple organ failure. They got her through that, but were unsure of the next step, because they didn’t know of any other options. The family went to MSK and they developed a protocol for her and she was declared NED. I believe it’s been about 5 years now and she’s still NED. Not saying anything bad about Kendall’s hospital, but MSK has more experience

WATER, WATER, WATER. During Chemo, water helps nausea. I drank as much water as I could hold the day before chemo, the day of chemo, and the day after. It definitely helped curb the sick feelings. I’m praying for your beautiful girl. God is with you

Kendall is such a brave angel. I personally know how sick you get with chemo and other therapy treatments. I have a very aggressive cancer too. My surgeon wasn't very good. I'm still messed up and have massive hematoma 8 months after surgury. My chemo was delayed by 4 months. I'm 🙏 praying the new treatment works better for her. With less side effects. And that the surgury she is going to have, cures her and the cancer never comes back. You hang in there Kendall. Send much love and prayers. ❤❤❤😊😊😊🙏🙏🙏

It sounds like there's a plan now and she is strong and will get through this. I follow a guy ( Paul in Perth) who was diagnosed with a peritoneal cancer and after some initial therapy they pretty much had no more options and there was a dr in Sidney who said he could do it even though everyone else said it was operable. It was a huge surgery but he is out of the hospital and doing well. There are drs out there with more expertise and apparently you have found one and glad he is going to take her case on. Happy Holidays to you all and my prayers continue for Kendall.

I know the feeling from my mil's cancer that she was asked which therapy she wanted to do. Also with my daughter in law's mom. How do you want us to treat this. It amazes me that my doctor will essentially treat almost anything but cancer with specific drugs and I don't remember any doctor asking me , "What do you want to take for this? Including a battle with Covid. Asking me how I wanted to proceed and what medicine/surgery I wanted to opt out of never happened. I think most of us are treated the same. When cancer rears its ugly head they ask "How do you want to do this?" I don't know either and I didn't spend a good portion of my life becoming a doctor. Make the best decisions you possibly can and know you've done your best. I have to say that Kendall is blessed in her parents. You aren't afraid to ask the tough questions and while you're afraid of the decisions/consequences you step up and do your homework, interview the players, before just saying yes to the squeaky wheels. It must have been scary hard for you to say - yes we think that this is Kendall's best option. Kendall looks wonderful, she loves and trusts you to have her back. You should be proud of yourself as parents & advocates for Kendall. I wish for your family a very Merry Christmas. God bless.

I'm glad that you did talk with the surgeon.. I wasn't getting the right answers with my kidney cancer..Dr's refused to do biopsies..they just did ablation..I just didn't feel comfortable..so I wrote my concerns to mayo in Rochester MN to see if they would see me..I heard back in 2 days..5 years later I'm seeing specialists at mayo..they found quite a few things wrong that Dr's that I was seeing should have caught in my labs..it's hard to trust.. I'm so happy that you chose surgery..my question is..having a family with cancer..wouldn't they want to try and shrink it before surgery? I know you said that the chemo really isn't shrinking it.. Kendall is my prayers along with all of you To this day we don't know what type of kidney cancer I had..but I'm being followed closely..cuz now I have cysts

MSK is her best chance. They are the best! She and your family will be in excellent hands. Nyc has the best up to date procedures. Kendall’s best chance is MSK. That lymph node cancer growth must be removed so it doesn’t spread. The two spots in her liver should also be able to be removed. People can survive with half or smaller size liver. If she was my little girl I would make the same decision. I agree doctors have to be aggressive with surgery and then do radiation on whatever is left. This is Kendall’s best chances of beating this cancer. You are an amazing dad. Kendall got this! In the meantime enjoy your Christmas and new years. She looks amazing 🙏❤ MSK’s team sounds like a great team of surgeon’s who have Kendall’s best interest at heart. I have a great feeling about this course of treatment. In the meantime keep her away from large groups and crowds. Her immune system must remain strong.
