Welcome back! Quick question. Are you talking to your pals on a VHF radio? If so, what channel do you guys use so your not getting in trouble with CG etc. Or are you using something else?

Thanks 🤙🤙 We use marine VHF radios yeah. Channel 68 is Hilo side I think but sometimes you catch chatter from the shipping guys I think? The distress channel is 16 so I usually stay off that one.

Bro can you detail how/if/when you service those Penn reels? Those onos be smoking those drag washers! Just curious how you stay ahead of the wear and tear.

I have been using this Penn Spinfisher VI 8500 for two years now and the only thing I've had to replace is the drag knob because I dropped it overboard. I just spray my gear off at the end of the day and put a couple drops of ReelX on the line roller bearings and they last forever seems like.

Home made sabiki 15 lb mono for the trunk and 10 lb for the branches. size 8 gold j hooks and small soft plastic (tylah lures here)

Either a revo13 or an outback depending on how you're gonna transport it, body weight, strength, and how much stuff you wanna carry

My friend on Oahu uses a PA14 and does great using it offshore. His YT is @Where's D-Ahi if you wanna see a PA14 in action going for pelagics.

@morgancooke5971 Np! Definitely try to have a fishing buddy as much as possible, as they could literally save your life. Basic safety gear I don't even get in the water without: a quality PFD, bilge pump, marine VHF radio, my cell phone in a floating waterproof pouch, and a sharp knife.
