How utterly sad for the parents to ask that a higher bail to be given. They must've exhausted every means to help their son. I truly think that should a Judge release or go easy on a habitual criminal and a far more heinous crime happens, the famlies should hold them accountable. I can empathize with this man. I’m going through almost the same thing with my son. I wish there was more to the detox programs like a mental health component. My son is now hearing voices.😢 💔 It breaks your heart as a parent knowing that you did your best raising them to be good people. How do we get them back to the person that they used to be…minus the drugs?

This is the same dude that ran me and my wife off the road a few years ago. He first flipped us off as we got squeezed by the narrow road and he turned right into us causing us to go off the side into a ditch. Man i was in fighting mode. Got out, he was 50ft away getting out. Im 6'4" 200lbs. He looked at me and took off. Our rental was mangled but driveable and got back to the hotel fine. I never forget a face. Still can't believe it's this guy! Btw. The cop that came to take our report said " locals dont really like tourists". I said, "then they're stupid and theyll die that way." We never heard back from him.

So were the other folks helping to chase him just as crazy? What happened to them? The couple said there were at least 3 people.

I am very sorry for this fathers pain. His heart is broken. I am in a similar situation with a son, currently in jail, who has serious mental illness and drug/alcohol addiction. I have done everything I can to try to get my son help for 12 years now. The 'justice' system is broken. Jail time alone is not the answer for most offenders.

Ridiculous. It's their son, he's an adult. Blaming the courts/prosecutor for the bail amount was too low, means they wanted the adult to have been treated differently from all other bail settings that they would have established from the same court/prosecutor. Should the prosecutor/court set bond so high that no one gets out except the extremely wealthy, who can afford bail due to their wealth? In that case, it would be inequal treatment of one person arrested versus another. Furthermore, since the son is an adult, he's responsible for his own actions, substance abuse or not. If he's psychologically unstable, then he'd be held in an appropriate facility. The fact that the courts didn't find him irrational/psychological sound to be released, he's on his own behavior and it's the person who put up the bail responsibility to deal with. Law enforcement in other areas might have shot and killed him, if they thought he was unstable and a threat during the apprehension, so he's lucky that the son is still alive. It's the son's choice on whether he really wants to get off the substance abuse or not. It's their life, on the choices that they make. No one else can make the choices for them unless they are declared incompetent.

His father seems like a decent guy, but he's skeptical about the carjacking? Really? That seems pretty likely to me, 100% likely.

In the 90’s I threw a packet of taco sauce at a car that cut me off when I was 18. It didn’t explode, just bounced off harmlessly. My bail was $50,000 in Palo Alto, CA and it kept me out of the Marines after being accepted and given a ship out date.

I feel bad for Troy, left with nothing to do but pray for his son. What a disappointment this punk kid has been, with a string of violent crimes since he was a teenager. He’s notorious for picking fights with random strangers. Now he gets to go back to prison where he can pick fights all day. His favorite pastime.

Looking at dad and son, I am going to guess that he was adopted. This is why adoption is not a good option for me, but I respect those who do. Adoptees are often psychologically damaged; especially when they are not newborns. Sometimes, it doesn’t matter how good your parenting skills are; they may stray (especially when drugs are involved).

But the reality is this guy and the people that were helping him look for those victims whose car he hijacked with a gun, they weren't looking for them to apologize or return their car and belongings they were looking for them so there wouldn't be any witnesses, they were going to kill them. It couldn't get more serious. This psychopath and whoever was involved in this, the Van, I think it had taxi written on it, and the other car that the witnesses described looking for them, we're going to commit murder and if anybody thinks that's not true they're delusional.

A parent can only do so much. I grew up with some people that had good parents and a good childhood who ended up rotten as adults. It happens more often then some might think. And then there is the reverse where I know some who had horrible parents and a bad childhood who became upstanding people. You just never know how someone is going to turn out.
