Marvelous! Note where the builder said "The fun for me is in the building!" That's why I don't have any of the various models, sculptures, or even cars that I have made over the years. I would rather build, polish, and discuss rather than drive. I am drawing the line on a dream car of mine that I ought to finish this year, a 1969 Aston Martin DBS to "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" specification. OHMSS and Chitty are my 2 favourite films of all time, and they have a common thread: Peter Hunt. This man is wonderful, low key, and embodies the Caracatus Potts spirit: he made the car with what he had. I would love to meet this man someday, and if you could post construction photos of your Chitty, that would be great. Thank you for sharing your work, and may God bless you. One note to the video guy: Obviously you know about the wind noise, but also, ditch your red car out of the long shots. We want to see Chitty, and not another vehicle in the shot. Glad he said it wasn't intended to be an exact replica. As an homage it's superb. If my project I would have made the seat and rear basket closer to original as it's the only thing that jumps out visually but the steering wheel and instruments are to make it more driveable. Very cool project!

I think it's perfect for what it is and really encompasses what Caractacus Pott's accomplished. He built a car using what he had. There is no "authentic" as it's not a real car and just whatever the production team built to be right for the period. The use of different parts and pieces from different cars or other repurposed materials makes it true to form. I might spend a bit of time making a capitone tufted seat back for the front though.
