It's a young raccoon! You can see the striped tail on it just before it climbs onto the log. I only say young because it's thin and smaller looking than a fat adult raccoon.

@Miles Maillet I tried taking a screen shot so I could enlarge the area you mention, but I must be blind I just for the life of me can't make it out. The animal that slid into the water is either a Nutria rat or river otter. At 16:18 you can see it’s burrow on the bank of the river between the 2 deer closer the one on the left sides head

Squirrels, deer and raccoons I have aplenty...in my garden...I hear the owls and see the hawks...but to see them up close and personal is a gift. Thank you. Addendum: The bathing owl was beautiful...the hawk catching a frog 🐸 ...awesome.

I agree, the tail on that critter and it's size leads me to think beaver. Otter is another option. The prior will leave more signs of activity than the later.

Great assortment of animals. Love the Owls and Hawks. I don't get many birds like that on mine here in Southern Ontario. We have lots of them around, they just don't seem to find my camera. I think I get everything else there that you had except for the wild pigs. They're starting to show up in our area, but I haven't seen any yet. I also get tons of foxes. Great video, keep it up.

beavers get huge too, while me and a cousins husband was fishing yrs ago we was sitting on a very small sand bar, a huge beaver came swimming down a river rounded a bend in the river n climbed up on shore 3 ft' from us standing up n stared at us for 5 mins or so we was amazed but froze not to scare or get it mad, but the darn beaver had to been between 3 n a half to 4 ft tall i didn't know how big they got until then .

Since I posted that video I had placed a camera down in that general area. As luck and murphy's law would dictate when we went to pick it up the data card was corrupt. It looks like a huge otter, though it seems to stand high. It could always be something thats not meant to be there, like its escaped from a private collection. Sounds odd i know, but in England a panther escaped, they are definately not native to England! 😁 lol! Lovely video though, its nice to hear nature without commentry 😊

It's a nutrea/coypu. Originally native to South America but were introduced into the southern US for fur trade. They look similar to a beaver but they don't have the wide, flat tail.

I'm sure you have already been asked this question numerous times, but I'm too lazy to scroll the comments. What type/brand of trail camera are you using for this video??? Thanks.
@OldCootCamping3 жыл бұрын
Hoosier Ed thank you for your service to our country. We started off not knowing much about trail cameras and bought WOSPORTS Trail Cameras back in 2019. I have not been disappointed. They served their purpose well and recorded sound and video and we were happy. As they started to drop off we tried other brands as well. The model we bought is not being made anymore. We have replaced some with VICTURE TRAIL cameras (20MP) full HD with No Glow Night Vision (critters are not supposed to be able to see the IR lights with these). They all have their plus and minuses. One thing for all cameras is that they eat batteries like they are Cheetos. The best purchases we made were Trail Camera Solar Panels to go along with the miscellaneous trail cameras. The model we bought were “Trail Camera Solar Panel, WingHome Solar Battery Charger Kit 12V/1A 6V/1.5A with Build-in 2000mAH Rechargeable Lithium Battery IP66 Waterproof Hunting Accessory” from Amazon. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR CAMERA FIRST for the proper voltage and to make sure the connector will fit. Ran into a situation where we bought the panel and would not fit the camera and the camera did not have a port to accept an external power supply. No worries there we just placed it on other cameras and worked fine. They even work when not in full sun (see property videos to get an idea). A great resource would be HUNTINGFARMER on KZfaq kzfaq.info, he is an awesome resource and have purchased some more expensive cameras on his recommendations. Thanks for dropping by and again thank you for your service!

@OldCootCamping Жыл бұрын
I have gone through a lot of trail cameras since 2018 so hard to say what cameras captured what. I can tell you that I went cheap when I first started. The brands from furthest back to present are WOSPORTS (many models of them), VICTURE (I like these), to my newest one (I haven't had time to place in the field) is made by BlazeVideo. I plan on getting that one out on our next trip. I really appreciate the time you took to watch the video and especially to comment. The more megapixel is usually better, having a good sound quality I found is of higher value the more I do this. Have a great one!

Mitch Jus: the hole had an armadillo either using it or hunting in it 13:48. Plus the hole is not big enough for whatever we saw at 16:56. So like I said, "either a river otter or an alligator". And depending on where this is located at it could be an alligator. River otters are much more gracious when sliding in water. Where as alligators are more clumsy on there short stubby legs.

Beautiful video my first time to ever watch something so calming can someone please tell me what grabbed the dear at about 15,43 I thought the thing that slid into the water was a crocodile about 15,22 I could see something move just before the deer got snatched

I think the build is far to stout for an Otter and the tail looked wide and flat to me. Beaver is my guess. As an Oregonian (the Beaver state) I have a built in bias for beavers :)
@andypanda49272 жыл бұрын
One looked and moved like a racoon. For the one right before: Except for that tail being too long, would say opossum from way it moved. Not quite as rotund as ones here in central Alabama. Got one visits regular for whatever cat leaves - always leaves some of kitty kibble uneaten.

Great video!!! Is this area anywhere near the Killeen/Ft. Hood Texas area? So many cool varieties of wild life there! I miss seeing the red birds/Cardinals! We lived at Ft. Hood/Killeen Texas almost 5 years back in the early to mid 70's, only time I ever saw a Bob cat was there on Ft. Hood where we'd go quail hunting and there was a big brush pile that every time I climbed up on it trying to kick up a covey of quail something would come out of that pile, a bab cat once, a big buck another time, scared me worse than I scared it!
