Yeah me too she is an OC for sure, her appearance in Justice League And JLU was amazing! She is a founder member of JL and she has amazing powers including lots of character admitting it and respecting her for that! I hope we get to see Hawkwoman one day

Some iterations of Superman need to breathe. Generally entertainment media ignores reality in favor of entertaining. For example: you cannot hear in outer space or breathe in it as there is no air and it is a vacuum. Young Justice actually follows these rules. In previous episode they never had sound effects in space. Check out the Episodes with the War World for a demonstration of that like War in Season 2 or Evolution in season 3. As stated at the beginning of season 2 by Clayface "Even a Kryptonian need to breath". Superman has also been depicted as needing to breath in the comics, Bruce Timm's Superman Animated Series, and Justice League/Justice League Unlimited. Though he has also been portrayed as not needing to breath as well in live action Superman movies and some of the comics.

There is confusion because Justice League Unlimited also used Shayera as Hawkgirl. In comics, Hawk "girl" is Kendra. But these cartoons are not following the comics. Shayera, Hawkwoman is the Hawkgirl cartoon fans know
