Hey Scott, that looks like your welding T-shirt!........As you know, this modification will save you thousands of dollars over the years, over and above the thousands you saved by doing it yourself. Great job!........Every hay farmer within 50 miles is going to want you to do one for them.

It's clever how you dropped the tongue down to draw-bar level, and the PTO shaft goes straight through below the center of the framework to power the round-baler. Good informative video.

You did an excellent job on your rake modification! I thought it was a factory made rig. The way you have it set up saves another trip across the field, so it's a real time saver and saves using another tractor and operator.

I still have a separate raking and baling operation, although I often round bale right behind the rake. I am considering converting to this type of setup. Not sure if I could make this work with square baling? Might have a need for a preservative at that point. Enjoy you videos!

After cutting how long does it take for the grass to dry out? After cutting do ya have to tedder the hay to help dry evenly?
@NorthTexasHay
@NorthTexasHay 6 жыл бұрын
+Ivansgarage depends on the time of year and the weather. Generally the first and fourth cutting you could say cut on a Monday and pick up on Thursday, and the second and third cuts would be one day shorter. There are tons of variations with the time of day you cut and pick up. Most of the time I Tedder twice, sometimes more sometimes less depending on thickness and weather.

I have a R23 Vermeer rake I'd like to convert to a in between rake as I bale by myself and by the time I get done raking I will run out of daylight before I can get it all baled, plus like to modify equipment during the winter when all there's to due is to take care of the Cows. How can I contact you to get Measurements to start the build? I see no place to get your contact info. Thanks, Dave from north central MO.

Haha! Yup, 3 twists’ roll it up. lol I can’t wait to get my better half to run the machine like she does! Lol pto shafts are just expensive. I can’t tell you how much looking around I’ve done, but their just too high. If one of y’all are from around here and have a good source, comment on this comment so I’ll know where to get them from too. Hope y’all have a great week!

@joelground7557
@joelground7557 6 жыл бұрын
Are they Italian? From what I’ve seen, they make the bulk share of pto shafts and they are really good in quality. The reason I ask is because I’m looking at replacing the pto shaft on our land pride bat wing mower. I’ve always had really bad vibration with it. I’m not sure where it’s made but I think it’s wierd that it’s the only shift I have issues with and it’s our only “affordable” machine. I’m not knocking land pride by any sense, love the mower, but I’ve had bad vibrations out of it since day one.
@NorthTexasHay
@NorthTexasHay 6 жыл бұрын
Joel Ground the shaft I bought is aftermarket for a John Deere round baler, I believe a category 3. I've not heard good things about the euro pto shafts but I can't remember what it was.
@joelground7557
@joelground7557 6 жыл бұрын
Hmm.. I’ll have to look into that. Does it run nice and smooth? Abilene isn’t too terribly far from me and if I can get a nice smooth running shaft, I’ll be happy. Lol there’s nothing like running along mowing the cow pastures getting your fillings rattled out. Lol

I think before baling it would be better if the swaths were to dry in the wind for another 2 to 3 hours. At least here in our rainy North German climate. (Sorry for my bad English when I was young, I preferred to work in the fields instead of learning for the school)
