It used to be a beast in GSC with access to Swords Dance, Body Slam, and Earthquake... Man. I did like using it in tandem with my Umbreon in Pokémon Colosseum, though! When I was a kid, I didn't know Umbreon could learn Moonlight at a later level, so to compensate I used a Snatch and Synthesis combo.

If you're interested in competitive battling, but a bit intimidated by the labour of building a competitive team and online battles, then there are some Romhacks of old Pokémon games that offer this style of battling, but in a single player format. Pokémon Radical Red is something I'd recommend you check out if interested

Same for me (except I already own the game) never been in competitive Pokémon because to me it seems that if you didn’t bring pokémons from a very narrow selection you had no chance to win. I remember seeing some tournaments or something like that and they where showing the six finalists and four of them had the same team and the other two had 2 different pokémons. It’s so boring to me! Where are all the other pokémons? Where is the fun? But whit those videos I see that you can take pokémons outside of the competitive selection and be successful with them. It make a want to try it out
