I wanted to say a big THANK YOU for this video. One huge piece that was holding me up for YEARS was the acceptance piece. For so long I have felt complacent in my workplace and dissatisfied. Held back by the idea that maybe the grass isn't greener elsewhere...You helped me identify a key piece where I battled back and forth and talked myself in and out of it...accepting how I DO feel and not gaslighting myself into staying any longer!

So glad it helped! And congratulations on your new opportunity, that's amazing! (sorry I'm only seeing this now, I forget to check my comments!) How are you finding your new position? I'm guessing you've been in it for a few weeks now?

Thank you. Very sound advice. Been with the same company for 13 1/2 years and toying with the idea of pursuing my dream and working out financially & mentally if I can do it. Your video is really helping me work through my barriers. Cheers ! x

Hayley I have been currently been in the same company for 9 and half years, I know deep down its time to move on but I have allowed myself to get too comfortable there and have found it scary regarding taking the steps to move

I want to change careers, but I don’t know what I want to do. Everything I’m looking at Pays so little that I think I’ll be poor. I already left a job that I had for 10 years.

That's kinda where I'm at too, but I still do have my job I've been at for 11 years. I have no real skills outside my industry, and everything entry level I see is very low pay. I'm kind of a klutzy/slow learner also, which absolutely does not help things. That's something that scares me, that if I try something new and fail...well then what? But my current job is always gonna require long commutes and I really need to get away from that. I barely have time to do anything except work, come home for just a few hours and go to bed.

Watching as I begin to decide to leave a job I had grown into and made meaningful relationships with my work colleagues, even in just the span of 18 months; for another job where I feel I could level up professionally and personally. Am feeling scared and melancholic right now.

I’ve been with a company for 17 years, I realize now that I should be making around 28-34 bucks an hour for my experience. I’m only around 23 an hour. I’m single and 47, living in a town that’s getting much more expensive in California, I barely started retirement like an idiot. I’m paying down debt though, have about 13k left. So I let them know that after my last raise, which was only 3 percent over the last 3-4 years because of covid and such, that I know my worth and something needs to change. I know they don’t want to lose me, and I was fine staying, but now corporate office in Los Angeles is flooding us with all their programs and these companies that come in and turn us into a bunch of numbers, with some very unfair benchmarks, anyways, so I work on very large copiers, then also regular copiers, printers and do some IT stuff. I must admit I am getting a bit tired of driving all over multiple counties being in traffic all the time in between jobs, however I’m afraid if I get a job where I’m in one building all day I may hate that worse, maybe not if it’s a big enough place. It’s a big company that’s done terrific over the years but we did take hits like everyone else this past few years. They said I may be able to get a job title change to get my pay up, or they will discuss it and we will reevaluate me properly in a couple months. Well everyone got covid and I got to play service manager for a month and everyone gave me great praise, and I proved even more how valuable I am………however there is noplace to move up here unless I became assistant manager, but these new corporate things coming down are kinda likely going to squash that. I won’t stop working hard for them, as long as I’m here, I’m giving my all, but I’m afraid I’m going nowhere, also, I think maybe I should get more into the IT side of things more, or a different job entirely just because copiers may not be around the rest of my working years. We service all the hospitals and school districts around, so I know more ppl than you can imagine, the IT guys at the schools are always telling me to try and come work with them. One of my best buds is one of the main bosses of IT for the high school dist. Problem is, I’ve only taken a few courses in that stuff, one was him as the teacher actually. I need to find out what other courses would be good, but I’m not always so good at school work, no degree, but I’m great with ppl, learn fast, work great independently without having to be checked on, I’m good with difficult ppl, I do enjoy computers, I have zero interest for copiers I work on, though I’m one of the best techs around. I’m wondering if they would be a bit lax on some of the requirements knowing my other qualities, then just teach me on job, and if I gotta do some classes while working………….my friend said he could just about guarantee me an interview, but he can’t hire me just because we’re friends for obvious reasons. I’m nervous that even if I got it, I would hate to be stuck at one high school all day, or if just doing IT work all day would make me nuts, like I should search other careers, but I’m not in a town like Los Angeles that’s got tons of jobs of variety, we got lots of oilfield and construction here, I’m too old for that shit now, already did it. So I’m staying loyal to my place, but it’s not going to get me anywhere money wise, and here we are to where I was about to ask the boss if we could talk again, and we got a huge corporate newsletter saying how good we’re surviving and our plans to keep surviving but part of it was by merging some positions there and so like 10 ppl were laid off. So now I hit the boss up and kinda said wtf now……..and I told him I’m gonna have to do something soon because while I’m here waiting for this place to straighten out, I hate to say it but I get ppl hitting me up elsewhere but I want to be loyal here and see where it goes….. He said let’s give it a little longer till we get our shop reorganized and these programs started and we will definitely try to figure something out, that he will take care of me. Problem is, maybe I should bail anyways, if I got good with the IT stuff I could get jobs anywhere, then again there are brilliant guys in that all flooding the market, however not with my ppl skills and work ethics. I have tons of hobbies, musician, biking, hiking, surfing, art, other stuff but nothing that would land me more money in this town, and I’m here till my parents pass, plus anywhere near my town that’s better is absurd high prices, ppl are struggling to pay rent….at least I own a small place. I spend hours dwelling on this corporate take over, I’m constantly talking to ppl there trying to get them to see the bullshit parts of it, but the big dogs at corporate are going to follow these PRos Elite type companies that come in and change everything, while never have actually done what we do. I’m so nervous to f up one way or another, but all my raises over the years have basically just been helping with inflation, nothing else. I’m growing depressed, however paying my 20k debt down to 13k over the weekend helped get me motivated again. Anyways, I’m just really nervouse cuz I’m 47, no real retirement, some day will have ok inheritance but I don’t want to lose loved ones for money lol, especially my favorite ppl in the world. Mom is easily my best friend. Anyways, your turn lmao…………….take care.
