I love Sir Pentious but the way he died is just so fake, the death ray was charging from when the thrusters where activated and should have been fully charged when he said fire, so Adam should have been shot with the death ray, badly hurt, fallen to the ground and while the death ray is charging again, that's the moment when Adam destroys the war machine, and that would look and feel much better.

Meanwhile, Lucifer is a FALLEN ANGEL, not a demon, so his attacks really hurt Adam, and Charlie is half-demon, half-angel, so her pitchfork absolutely counted as an angelic weapon.

Yeah, good point. I like Alastor as much as the next guy, but I don't think he's some super mastermind controlling everything. More like a very smart and cunning opportunist. And he probably really thought he could take Adam. That's understandable, because it's probably not common knowledge how powerful Adam is. I mean, as far as we know, this was the first ever fight between a powerful sinner overlord and angel like Adam.

This is the FIRST time Sinners actually fought back against the Exorcists. They've never fought back before because they never stood a chance before. Plus Alastor was the only one who fought without using angelic weaponry

To be fair, when Viv was actually asked about this personally, she said his power more or less has been nerfed. But she refused to give more details due to spoilers. Meaning it probably has something to do with his deal. People tend to forget that until he went missing, he was literally the most powerful sinner demon. He IS desperate, for sure. But has also been looking for openings and opportunities every step of the way to reaugment his position and find a way out of his deal.

It's very interesting to me how Alastor says to Adam "you're sloppy" when clearly he was the sloppy one. He didn't even have any angelic weapon on him despite knowing that was the only way to actually beat angels. Remember when Lucifer says in episode 5 "there's no substitute for true angelic power"? Yeah guess he was right

At least in this universe, Lucifer's intentions had good in them with the apple and God/the primordial embodiment of Good that Charlie mentions in her story at least recognized that, still allowed for punishment for the evil it unleashed onto humanity, but still left a backdoor of hope. It is interesting that all of the mortal souls of sinners only end up and can go to one circle of hell - the Pride ring - where Lucifer and Lillith ruled specifically. And that as* we see in Whatever It Takes, the actual entrance to the heaven realm is within sight. And there are some depictions of the afterlife, like Dante's Divine Comedy, that have purgatory present where its base is the entrance to hell and its peak is the entrance to heaven where souls can actually work through their earthly sins, cleanse themselves, and climb the mountain eventually being purified and able to enter heaven. This version of the Pride ring, or even the hotel itself, could be the stand-in for purgatory which is why mortals only end up and can only live there - because they can eventually bridge themselves out if they desire and work for it. And Charlie being a spin on an anti-Christ - with Christ being one who shepherded living people on a path to go to heaven upon dying, Charlie could be the shepherd who guides dead souls on a path to redemption to enter heaven. And all of this was in God's machinations but it still required the right people to use their free will to make the choices needed to make it happen - and our special little guy Pentious was/is the game changer and first spin of the cog to get the whole machine rolling.

I hope they do. Because anyone that underestimates Alastor in the Pride ring will deeply regret it. While Alastor wasn't nearly as powerful as Adam, you gotta admit, he put up a great fight considering he was fighting someone wildly more powerful than him. On top of that, *Adam was REQUIRED to stop Alastor.* Prior to Adam stepping in, the exorcists were getting quite literally slaughtered *by Alastor single handedly.* That is extremely impressive for a regular mortal.

I think it's heavily implied that he's weaker now because of the deal he made during the seven years especially in the ending song, “When I figure out how to unclip my wings, guess who will be pulling all the strings!” Also Al said he would make Vox suffer but he didn't do anything during these six months

@@Apophis.004 Actually it was Vox that was threatening Alastor with said suffering. Vox also threatened to destroy Al, which he also didn't do. We don't know much about their fight 7 years ago. The only thing we do know is that Alastor and Vox were in a picture together seemingly chummy. Meaning their "fight" could have just been a falling out and not a real fight. On top of that, during the "Stayed Gone" number, Alastor definitely came out on top. I don't think Vox is a pushover, but Alastor is the only overlord with the feat of actually destroying other overlords.

Yeah I think what matters is that it's a human soul, and died. If they flipped morality, they go to the other side. If they are where they're supposed to be, they just disappear.

@SleepyStreak yeah, yours is a more succinct way of explaining it. The big question is if dying again is required to make the transition. I could see a plot point where they have to gamble if they've made enough progress to make it to the other side. I don't think that's how they'll go with it, since it wouldn't fit with the overall themes, but it's a possibility.

It would be super interesting if he ended up down there! Plus it would Alex Brightman to continue to voice 1 character in Heaven and 1 in Hell, lol.

I hate to be a buzzkill but a lot of people haven’t noticed that Adam died to an Angelic Weapon, so he should be dead for good.

It had been more than a week, though, really. That sign was from episode 3, which was well before Charlie freaking out and then asking Lucifer to let her talk to Heaven. The court in Heaven happened 1 month before the battle, as Adam says he'll see them in a month. Then the battle. If we go by Episode 2 was directly after Episode 1 based on how they were talking at the beginning of ep 2, that would have been just over a week after the extermination. Then episode 3 would have been 1 week later than that. So there were approximately 5 and some months that Sir Pentious was at the Hotel.

Or the weapons don't actually destroy souls. Angel Dust points this out in the pilot episode. He wonders out loud if you kill a already dead soul, where does it go? Double hell? Also, not even the angels really know what happens to human souls when they die either. They don't have a clue on how the souls are sorted into who gets to heaven and who goes to hell.

Doubtful, Alastor was upset that he nearly died and could have ended up being thought of as dying for his friends. That's the "Great Alastor, altruist, died for his friends" line... is he mocking what people would have said about him and it upset him.

@@LeiRaion I’d say it’s a good theory that he actually does care. I think he wants people to think he doesn’t care and is just doing it for funsies. After all, Vaggie and Lucifer are easier to annoy that way. But if you think about it, through every action he’s done past the pilot and the first episode seems plain helpful. He may act like he doesn’t care and he may pull “evil” faces but considering how neurodivergent he and lucifer act I wouldn’t put it past him to merely have that face… because he does. I don’t think he was mocking the people who say that, but that maybe: 1. He’s just acting much more desperate and he doesn’t want to die, now confronted by mortality. 2. he knows about the audience and is trolling. Either way, I don’t think Al is evil.

@@gailasprey7787 While I agree that the gang at the hotel are growing on him, and he definitely seems to genuinely like Charlie... I don't think he's quite there yet. It would be nice to see him continue to slowly crawl towards genuinely caring for them and I think some very small baby steps were taken this season (thus his breakdown at the end, he literally admits he was being affected by them) but the walls are definitely still up and he definitely is still primarily there to get out of his mysterious deal. I'm saying all this btw as a massive Alastor fan, first evil character I've ever claimed as my favorite in any show. At the moment, the only people I think he actually really likes is Rosie, Niffty, and maybe Charlie.

@@LeiRaion I do see your point. I think he’s getting there and that he definitely wasn’t on their side at the beginning and I think he doesn’t like Vaggie at all. I think he needs some more steps toward redemption but he has improved massively from wanting to see the hotel fail. I’m excited to see where he goes from here. He’s certainly not 100% but he is still getting much better. He does need at least a few episodes getting to know Angel, Vaggie and Cherri Bomb. Maybe that would develop their characters more as well as Alastor’s. I’d also love to see an arc where Lucifer notices how much Al cares for Charlie and starts to purposefully be nice to Alastor to piss him off. 🤣

Or as many have speculated his mysterious deal restricted him in some way... the "What just happened??" lends to this, imo, because it seems odd for him to be confused by being hit by an attack he clearly saw coming.... Either way, the fact that Alastor was slaughtering numerous exorcists and halted the extermination until Adam stepped in is all you really need to see Alastor is exceptionally powerful for a mortal. *Adam was REQUIRED to stop him.* Which is extremely impressive.

It's reasonable speculation. It's also possible that since that attack was larger and more empowered than his other attacks Alastor couldn't dodge it in time and had to block it. When it hit him it might have briefly fizzled his powers which surprised him. The fact that Alastor was slaughtering numerous exorcists and halted the extermination until Adam stepped in is all you really need to see Alastor is exceptionally powerful for a mortal. *Adam was REQUIRED to stop him.* Which is extremely impressive.

Alastor was meant to stall ( and/or possibly kill) Adam, at least long enough for them to deplete the Exorcist Angel Army's troops, but as we saw Adam was a lot stronger than Alastor, Alastor was also over confident and decided to not bring an Angelic Weapon to actually be able to damage Adam, because he felt as if he would be able to take Adam down with his own ability, either way, even if Alastor didn't try to toy with Adam, Adam might've gotten mad and still ended the fight, Alastor js only a sinner after all, and Angelic Weapons (Adam's Guitar) can destroy sinners, Charlie and Lucifer are able to harm Adam because they're both angels aswell (with Charlie being half angel half demon/ and Lucifer being a full angel)

How did it handle Pentious' sacrifice poorly? Not only did the characters react and it trigger Charlie's badassery, it was then acknowledged throughout the Finale song at the beginning and when they put up his painting/saluted it. Then that led directly to the scene in Heaven. Pentious and Pentious' sacrifice-related scenes took up a significant part of the episode. I've seen people complain about pacing, which I don't know what they expect from a 25 minute show with 8 episodes. This is not an anime with 100 episodes or a prime-time drama with over twenty 50 minute episodes. It also isn't paced any faster than the pilot. We just had 4 years to rewatch the pilot enough to get all the nuances. Smh.

@@WelcomeApathy Again it goes back to the show's poor pacing, it just happened to fast, it barely gave people time to register what happened. It would have been better handled if, for example, he actually did fire the gun, it had no effect on Adam, Adam attacked and instead of vaporizing the ship, it made it crash and explode. That would have made a much bigger impact. Also being 25 minutes is no excuse for poor pacing. There are tons of shows with 25 minute episodes that are way better paced

The most likely reason is that his agreement with heaven disallowed him from intervening However the agreement also disallowed targeting hellborns, so Adam broke the agreement first by trying to kill charlie

@@RandomHandle837 You can somewhat explain it away with that yeah but...Charlie was attacked from the beginning, she had to fend off swarms of Exocrists trying to get trough her shield... and announcing an attack on the Hotel she was residing in in the first place should have been seen as a violation of the agreement.
