HB Toys Wilderness R1001 - Inspection and Upgrades

If you have, or want, a HB Toys Wilderness Beluga R1001 then this video is for you. We do an inspection on this RC Crawler/ Trail Truck and check the portal axles for grease. We also check the differentials for grease. We upgrade the stock 3KG servo to a metal gear, high torque, 35KG steering servo. We upgrade the Hobbywing 1060 to a Hobbywing 1080 which gives us much better slow crawl and control of the HB Toys Wilderness Beluga R1001. We upgrade the stock tires with Treal metal beadlocks, Injora silicon inserts, and JConcepts green compound Ruptures. This upgrade adds a ton of weight to the vehicle and the tires make a HUGE difference in performance. This is almost a completely trail truck! We also added in some special scale details ;)

my favorite upgrade is the simple Ford badge on the back lol weelll, the 1080 really makes a huge difference with slow crawl, so it's tough to pick

I like those rims. My suggestion would be to mix up some metallic paint to match the rims and paint the roof rails, mirrors and door handles. Then a thin line of black in the body seams.

lol I appreciate the suggestion but It may be easier to buy the same rims in black. I really like these rims as well, they are very heavy, easy to mount, and have a great style. Appreciate you checking it out! btw, you want to paint the letters on my grill?

I like the look of the tires and rims. Perhaps axle spacers to prevent the tires from rubbing in the wheel arches. 👍 And I did watch the video until the end. As a retiree, I probably have more time and patience to watch interesting enough videos all the way to the end. 🤔😉 Greetings Jos 👋🍀

Thanks, Jos! Gonna run it how it is and see how bad the body rub is on an actual trail. Just driving around in the yard over normal obstacles seemed like it may be okay after all!

What issue are you having? It was a bit of a pain getting the screw into the horn after mounting the servo but I didn’t need to remove anything else. And I’m the type of guy who’ll spend an hour tying to do something if it means I don’t need to take something else apart haha

Actually, I think may have mounted the horn before I screwed the servo in but after I had it plugged in and turned on. I think I was able to get the horn through the gap by angling the sevrvo in the mounting position.

Did you have a problem with no dual rate and the steering over steers and mashes the frame and axle?

I didn’t have a problem with oversteer but having no dual rate is bothersome

Ah okay, do you recall the degree of the one you bought? If it is something like 240 or 360 I can see that being a problem

Update: I checked my order and I did get the wrong servo, my servo was 270. I’ll get the 180 this time lol. Didn’t even know there was such a thing. Thanks again for the help!
