The Iron Throne was pretty flaccid in GOT, then in HOTD they improved on it, hopefully in Aegon's Conquest they go full 'tower of terror' book version. It'd make it symbolic of the Targeryan dynasty too, as the house and it's rule dwindled so did the throne.

Maybe they could do a movie starting pre-conquest following the three Targaryens and introducing them, maybe seeing them visit the citadel and finally Aegon having his dream. The film could include some of the initial players in the Conquest like Argilac, and the third act could see Aegon starting the conquest. The climactic battle could be Harrenhal.

I think they should do a feature film that takes place in the years prior to the doom with the Targaryens before Daenys had her dream and make some kind of story from that and it’ll end with them landing on shore of dragonstone and then showing the doom years later. That’ll lead right into Aegon having his dream of ice and fire in the first episode or second whatever they decide and fleshing out why he truly decides to take the 7 kingdoms.

Great stream as always. I think this show could be a great story about a man slowly shrinking behind the icon he needs to be in order to live up to the vision. All that murder and loss will erode him I think, until he's just a crown a throne and a sword.

Only 30 minutes into the video so idk if you mention this later, but I always thought of Aegon the Conqueror similar to Rhaegar. I don't see him as a big muscular man or a "bad boy" type in any way, I think he only went to war because he felt it was necessary and his destiny, the same reason why Rhaegar did everything he did. I think he was reasonably handsome, smart, determined, and a good politician and leader, but not like physically that intimidating or a super "manly man". So in the future castings I hope they focus on finding someone who can capture his mentality rather than just cast someone who looks cool and sexy. And besides, the franchise itself is already popular enough that they don't really need to cast celebrities to draw in viewers.

Hard disagree that House Veleryon were dark-skinned when they lived in Valeria. The fact that Aegon I and Jaehaerys I both have Veleryon mothers, yet appear to be pale-skinned (certainly Jaehaerys, as we've seen him on screen) is an ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE part House House Veleryon and what makes them so important. Therefore, it would almost seem that Daemon Veleryon was light-skinned, and he married someone dark-skinned (let's say Summer Isle for the sake of argument) and then his sons, including Corwyn were therefore mixed race. Corwyn also married a dark-skinned lady (again, let's just say Summer Isle for argument's sake). That's the logical way to preserve both the show material and the book cannon (which I'm personally pretty precious about!) I do wholeheartedly agree that both Valeria and the Empire Of The Dawn were both mixed race though, featuring a range of different ethnicities under their banners, much like real-life empires. I love the idea of there being a multi-ethnic Valerian Empire, but I personally don't feel that it would make sense for House Veleryon to have always been dark-skinned, as I'm very precious about my book cannon and we know that Jaehaerys is pale skinned in TV canon. Instead, it'd make much more sense for Daemon Veleryon's (who is the bother of King Jaehaerys' mother) linage to be the ones with the darker skin tone. Much like my real-life cousins who I share the same surname with are Filipinos and have traditionally Filipinos features, but I'm pasty and have traditionally caucasian features.

I agree on listening to these videos while getting work done -- hanging out with y'all listening to speculations about the myths and characters of ASoIaF is great way to stay chill and vibe while doing repetitive or unpleasant tasks. Working within psychology and mental health I want to add that “psychopath” in the clinical neurological and psychological formal language only refers to people who are not neurologically able to be emotionally/empathically impacted by what happens with and to other people. Wanting to hurt others or taking pleasure in hurting others is something else and doesn’t occur more in people with “psycopathic brains” compared to people with “non-psycopathic brains”. I’m fully away that psychopathic in mainstream often is meant to mean someone who doesn’t care about what happens with others AND takes pleasure in hurting others or make efforts to hurt others for the sake of hurting. Just underlining that in clinical everyday work within mental health the definition is different.

Hey David! Just a thought on the “snow show”….what if undead Jon can’t die? If that’s the case, we could pick up with Jon HUNDREDS of years in the future. Might be a cool reveal at the end of the season when we find out he’s living hundreds of years after everyone he ever knew and loved in his “Normal” life. This way, he COULD go into Westeros and interact with the 7 kingdoms without having to bring back any actors or plot points from the original show. Just a thought!

I'm a fan of the Aegon had no true sons theory. I've stated many times how I feel like A the C is an Alexander the Great parallel. Alexander had 3 wives yet only one son and even his true paternity is up for debate. It always struck me as fitting that these 2 great conquerors who nearly took over the world in a sense couldn't produce an heir to keep it going. In my opinion both Aegon and Alex were shooting blanks.

If they change the scope of the show by calling it “Sons of the Dragon” and end with maegor then I could see that working

I brought this up on another podcast feed, but why can't some of the more motivated of Fandom, (not a Garth Praiser like myself) petition to get all the top ASOIAF podcasters cameos on The House of the Dragon? They are the ones keeping interest in these shows alive during the Long Nights between seasons of the show and the books. Seriously. Why not? They deserve it more than pro athletes and musicians. Casting suggestion: Natascha McElhone as Visenya. She's got the right looks, but she can also do 'hard and determined' to perfection: watch her performance in Ronin. Strictly speaking, she's a bit too old, but a)she doesn't look it, b) the TV shows generally age characters up to meet 21st century expectations, and c) medieval life was hard and you might reasonably expect people to look older thjan their calendar age.

One of the Visenya art pieces resembles Nicole Kidman. That'd be cool.

I really hope they do it right and foreground Visenya and Rhaenys as protagonists with Aegon still being a protagonist but slightly less so than his sisters. This would reflect the impression we get from the source material and continue the real-world progress they've got underway with HotD with putting women/non-binary ppl in principal roles within fantasy genre. I'm talking enough of a distinction that the actors playing the queens are paid more overall per season than whoever plays Aegon. This would also serve as a point of contrast to the increased misogyny seen across Planetos the closer we get to the main story, which is great world-building. (As you've discussed, in real world history and ASoIAF history both, society seems to get increasingly patriarchal with the rise of Christianity/the Faith of the Seven, so it would make sense that the farther back we go, the more power women have.)

I think the casting as alwaus wont be extremely famous people. And prefer it that way.

Court intrigue, succession crises nd stuff are interesting but three shows of Lords and ladies is getting old. Imho. I want to see the story of some nameless farm hand who eventually finds himself on 'the Field of Fire'. We never get to see the dragons until our main character sees all three of them for the first and last time.

Honestly Aegon’s conquest isn’t all that interesting to me as a series or even a film because it just boiled down to he and his sisters had dragons and nobody else did so it was pretty much an easy massacre from start to finish and therefore zero actual tension besides Rhaenys’ death. Fire & Blood covered it just fine.
