This is one of the best and most durable trucks of this class and price range I've tested in a while. Great speed, full ball bearings, steel gears and super durability makes this one of my favorites. Definitely a good buy.

I just bought one of these and it has been revised quite a bit. It now has oil filled shocks,the body isn’t hinged, it comes with 2 standard 7.4. Volt li-ion battery packs that mount on the left side of the chassis. It was on Amazon for 110 with a 15 dollar coupon. It was 102 after tax with free shipping. It is far better than I expected. Like yours it’s not exactly fast or slow. I’ve only put two packs through it so far, so who knows how durable it will be. It certainly appears to be well bit and robust. I bet it would be noticeably quicker with the spare tire not mounted and the lights unplugged. I’m going to run 4-5 more packs through it in the next couple of days. So far it seems like a heck of a deal for 95 bucks.

I bought this buggy for my daughter, both she and I are just getting into the RC scene. I am really impressed with it so far. It's very stable and quiet, and the battery life is also impressive. I have the WLtoys 12428 and we both take them out to bash. Her batteries last a lot longer than the WLtoys and it doesn't flip as much due to that independent rear. I'm going to upgrade hers with metal dog bones and oil filled shocks. It's a great little buggy.

Tim A the dune thunder comes from factory with oil filled shocks. It’s the same truck with a different body and a screw on wing. The charging is tricky because it only works with one outlet which is kinda strange but a good truck anyway

Absolutely would love to see you do a review on your new truck! Congrats on getting it! Looks like a Sweet Ride! Saw you in the chat on Ken Heron show last night and I would also like to see you on his show as I'm sure a lot of people would! Drone Worship has commented a few times about you joining him on one of his Live streams which I think I would like to see more as it would be a little more informative and not so rushed as Ken would probably not be able to donate the time from his show as most would like to see. I'll put a bug in his ear about trying to set that up with you! Again, Love the New Truck! You deserve it! L8r!

The steering servo commonly fails on these, but you can always upgrade it with a metal gear servo.

I bought this in September last year, and I think it's AMAZING. But I have broken shock, wheels, and stripped servo gears, but it is really fun.

Good one. I like the low battery position and though I'm not a big fan of the 18650 on trucks, this particular system seems to work well. Seems durable and with the usual mods could be a useful addition to a collection. Fun review too :)

Although this one is a bit more expensive, it looks like the hugely popular WLtoys 12428 finally has a rival. I really like the lower stance, and the 18650s give a great run time! 😁👍🏼👍🏼

it's just a repackage Hbx thunder or Redcat KT-12...with a Fy03 sort of cage.... The 18650 are Retarded..they'll reverse pole..if they get too hot. ( I have 2-ea KT-12....all the batteries failed after a while).. I upgrade mine with Oil fill shocks...You can get METAL CUPS from Redcat. The plastic cups will snap,(even stock) The dogbones are fine. Moslty from the RIGHT REAR. I installed a 2845 3100KV brushless, 25T pinon, 60a esc. Mg servo. 3s 40C 1500mah lipo It dose over 50 mph,( 80kmh) Wheelie on command.. It'll actaully go into a wild traction( cart wheel) roll at high speed if you tap the brakes becuase its fast and light....The parts actaully dont break...except the plastic cups It's lighting FAST....better than my F03 brushless conversion Better than my 1/18 wltoy 979... The truck gose anywhere. Will out run all my 1/10 and 1/8 brushless... due it's light weight....It also dosnt break as much as the bigger toys. It's a GOOD design..They just needed to install METAL CUPS and oil filled shocks. The plastic gears actaully holds up using the 25T to ease the over torquing of brushless motors...plus it made it twice as fast.....I ran over 100 packs through it. It's one of my best truck, at the moment.

@@DustinDunnill I have waazoo of li on packs of other toys.. If purchase Li on for R/C you need 30C or better...definitely not the couple dallor 10-15C types. There's things you can do to that truck you give it a little more power. NOt all 390 brushed motors are the same..some are stronger and (less plastic cooling fan)...if you run a lipo..it'll burn out the stock motor..via..melting the fan after the truck sits....after running. I burnt couple 390 motors running lipo in 1/12 or 1/18. Im just giving an honest evaluation... The truck is fine stock...(aside from the battery reverse poling) Nothing broke on it...I had them for almost a year before I made them faster ( it;s part of the hobbie...I like making these cheaper toys faster) I have other bigger more expensive toys. i make those faster too.lol it's just a hobby. Li po have issues too...a cell might go bad. C ratings are hit and miss. You dont always get what you paid for.

Idk, I'm getting a headlamp for $23 that comes with 2 5000mah 18650's... So for a total of 10ah it should give it a bit under 120 minutes of run time 😃

Makes a great change from your normal drone videos. This is 1 hell of a sturdy RC. Couldnt believe the stick you gave it & it just bounced back. I used to have a nitrus HPI RC & wow the are super fast. Awesome video & for sure do a review on your new all wheel drive car. Cant wait. Take care 😀

There is a little black switch on top of controller for low to high. High speed is super quick 🙂👍

in trying to find a inexpensive r/c truck saw this one and of course went to your site because you had a review. they make an upgraded model of the same with oil filled shocks. Is this a good starter r/c? WD RC CARS: The Protector remote control truck is built in center shaft drive 4WD modular chassis with aluminum capped oil dampers, metal gear differentials, and ball bearings throughout. thanks Dustin

Bought one of these for my 10 year old son. He loves it! (Dad likes it too) But it just died.... When we turn the buggy on the lights flash until I turn the controller on then everything shuts down. Any idea where to go for trouble shooting tips?

When he took the tabs off I died 😵☠️⚰️🥀🤣 They are on the batteries so that you can remove them easily. And I'm sure you've figured it out by now but the entire top half clamshells open like a Corvette hood. (Edit just watched you open it up. So comment retracted)

Can I use 18650 flat topped battery with it or it should be button topped. It is hard to find button topped buttery with high discharge rate. The power of this vehicle is limited by the battery capacity.

I'm sure you could. If they don't make contact for some reason there are many ways to make them work.
