@picapica2859, you say no one dies, but Isao Shinoyima died at the hands of kaiju no. 9. There are also other troop members who die at the hands of the kaiju, but they are not part of the well-known characters of the story. The manga is still in process and on chapter 100 and something, but your comment is like the story is ending. You and all of us don't know what the mangaka has for us in the future so I suggest you give it time.

Even if he did save them, they've been fighting Kaiju's like their life depended on it and all of a sudden someone close to them is a kaiju. If she just dropped her gun and behaves like "Oh you're Kafka, I've known you for years. We're good." That would be shitty writing. She is a SOLDIER and a commanding officer above all else. Dropping duty and responsibility as a military officer just because you knew someone like you wanted would have been unbelievable and ridiculous to anybody. Would that make her military at all? No the fuck not, regardless of whether you knew them or not. Read stories from World War 2 of Nazi POWs with American citizenship who served in the Wehrmacht. There are many such stories across history where you can see the same dynamic. It's realistic. It's only annoying to you because you don't understand the importance of duty in the military. Nobody likes surprises whether friend or foe

Is Kafka the one obsessed with her, to be honest, in all of the manga she hasn't given a damn to kafka not a single time. The only reason he was accepted is because the vice captain liked him and the only reason he was not killed its because the blonde girl interventions. The characters in Kaiju n° 8 are pretty bad written sadly
