The little touches added to the game with a maxed out Adachi are immensely significant. The on the ground talk, the additions to the letter reading, the bigger, better understood connections between the protagonist and antagonist-- the roots of his misogyny being revealed- most of all, that intense and powerful 1 on 1 talk in Mayumi Yamano's room. That's drama, yo. swinging camera angles and everything. Gun raising animations.

I honestly wish Adachi wasn't the big bad, because he's the kinda person I could imagine myself being good friends with. He's cynical and borderline psychotic, but he does occasionally show a gentler side and cares for those close to him in his own way. That's why I love what P4AU did to him. Episode Adachi turned him into the kind of character I really wanted him to be.

I love Adachi as a villain because of two main reasons, the first is that you would never suspect this clumsy and bored man to be a psychotic killer, and the second reason is because he is the only villain in the persona series who isn't a God that tries to destroy humanity because he was really bored that one Wednesday afternoon. That is why I love Adachi both as a character and the villain of this game and am hoping we see more characters like him in Persona 5 and onwards.

The first hint about him being the culprit is his social link , the Jester, one who play a fool, but isn't ( unlike the protagonist, who is of the Fool arcana)

The funny thing after reading up twitter character analysis and theories, one that stood out the most was how teddie and adachi could be related. Both teddie and adachi shadows reference nihilistic beliefs, they both make lame ass puns and are goofy, and they both lonely as hell which is shown in how Teddie could track down adachi without a clue like he did for the others. Shadows are normally the repressed side of an individual or collective commonality. Teddie is gentle and friendly, while going off the clues from the game and anime about adachi he suppressed his positive side with cold hard logic and bitterness towards life to protect himself

I love it. Yosuke (Sasuke) scolding Adachi (Ichigo) about how the world works and facing his wrongdoings.

SPOILERS FOR P5! I feel as though P5 tried too hard to be P4 in the story department that they mirrored a lot of things, especially the whole malevolent god watching in the background trying to bring forth the desires of humanity... only instead of it being a god it's just the will of the collective conciousness. Then you also get the Akechi/Adachi parallels. Yet they didn't mirror the social links or "Confidants" which to me while still great are lacking especially for the high bar P4 set. You just don't celebrate things with your friends that often and even less so with your love interest. Not to mention the back and forth time jumps that take you out of the experience of being the protagonist EXPERIENCING things because you're constantly knowing you're just looking at the past and it's so disjointed. But at least you can be an asshole and dick over the world with a Adachi smile on your face unlike Persona 4.

His OG social link(were you need to progress your self) only foreshadowed that Adachi has issues with abandonment which was why he even advanced on Saki+Mayumi and ended up killing them because he felt like they abandoned him for someone else(Namatame) even if they didn’t know each other/weren’t close....that’s what he did with the old lady he was a tad upset when she left

Little Note, but the Jester arcana is the only social link not based on a real one (unless you interpret jester as the flipped version of the fool/the second Joker like they do when translating playing cards into tarots, but that would have been on the nose and revealing likely). Meaning the link and bond you two share is not even real
