My friends, this is the story of a remarkable Pokémon Snap world record, which I found truly amazing. Muk 4000 had been the record since the game was released back in 1999. Likely every gamer who ever played the game scored a 4000 point Muk, and it seemed like there was nothing more to it… But that’s where great Nintendo 64 gamers come in. Enjoy this story of how an incredible Japanese gaming legend broke this ancient world record and ushered in a new era of Muk high score attempts. Enjoy this video full of gaming analysis, world record discussion, and the wonderful story of this remarkable gaming achievement.

Thanks for introducing Muk in your video It was me who was talking to feketerigo. It's google translation, but I'll write down the content of the conversation 10:08 We are discussing whether it is possible to adjust the vertical sway of the Zero-One 10:50 Can't you see Grimmer? (It's hard to see when you're in front, so it's a sign that you're in a good place) 10:59 Waiting for friend Muk to move 11:10 Wasn't it a success? 11:17 The total score for the photo was 8180, so I'm trying to predict the score for the photo 11:29 Consulting on photo selection 12:06 Exceeded! 12:10 I was planning to take pictures of Muk for another 3 hours, so I told him that I wouldn't let him escape even if I achieved it

Rough Japanese translation: "I'm kind of thinking about adjusting the height, because the other muk is in a bad spot, it's like guaranteed that I won't get the bonus points of him being in the shot" "Yeah, how to adjust it is also a problem..." "Well if I decide the timing of when to shoot (the photo) in advance, I think I can kind of get it by counting down to that moment" "Oh, it's not there! It's not there!" (Whispering) "C'mon, come out quickly" "He's visible!" Then they just talk about which photo is better (while saying it looks promising) and he decides to go with the one on the left because muk is taking up more of the frame. At the very end the other guy says, 'dont run away' as he promised to stream longer and I guess after getting the record there's a good chance he'd just want to end the stream there. 翻訳・通訳できるように勉強してるからもし間違ってるとこあったら誰か教えてください

This reminds me of when I was studying at the university of Pisa. To go to uni I had to either walk through or drive very close to Pisa's tower and there were Japanese tourists everyday making photos of the tower. Now I'm starting to realize they weren't tourists: they were only trying to achieve the best score with their photos, experimenting with different angles and different techniques and trying to get extra points by fitting some of the other monuments in the same photo

I was unaware of the new record, the notification truly shocked me, I never imagined this could happen. I believe a similar thing happened with Meowth, but finding another Pokémon that allowed for a bonus Pokémon in the picture, *and* believing that it could break the record, *AND* actually spending time and energy going for it is truly the mark of a top tier gamer. Seems like at this point, only Pokémon that appear once are safe, but maybe not even those (double Moltres egg spawn? Perhaps one day =P). Congratulations to feketerigo, and well done on the research, Goose!

Literally nobody is saying "that's it?" Everyone watching your videos knows how remarkable a broken 24 year old world record is.
@sarowie
@sarowie Жыл бұрын
the duality of using well know techniques, yet innovative application makes this remarkable. In theory, all the pieces where there. Even a casual player used all the techniques shown in his/her first play trough. Yet, no body has linked the pieces to gether. With golden eye or Perfect dark, the records are build up on each other. Techniques where discovered. Paths optimized. Known but difficult techniques/exploits where implemented to shave of fraction of a second to just up to the next round down. It's an iterative process building on it self. Even breaktrough techniques do not break records "unexpectedly", because setups need to be developed, pathing reoptimzed etc. - its a whole process. Sure, this record also has setup development, path optimization and grind - but it feels "pure" as only intended base mechanics are used in the intended way.

@Kahadi
@Kahadi Жыл бұрын
With this new knowledge, what is the theoretical best score for Muk now? Is it the 4030 he got, or, with insane luck, is it feasible to maybe get a perfect 1000 size as well, or even higher on the bonus, and achieve maybe 4070 or 4100 or something? I'm thinking the best way of figuring out the theoretical best, without luck actually getting it, might require looking at the possible paths and seeing if it's even possible for them to be set up better, but still, proving the theory with a hacked version or something could give a new achievement for people to work towards. Pretty cool that proving this was possible came from him tying the previous max thanks to the bonus instead of just something close to the previous record.
@GamerFolklore
@GamerFolklore Жыл бұрын
I think something like 4100 might be possible, and could end up happening. People have gotten 160 "friend" points with size in the 800s. So it could plausibly all add up.
