People have to remember Sir Alex. He went against strict premiership contractual agreements and didn't give an interview to the BBC for more than a decade and not much of a fuss was made. He would swear at the press, manipulate the FA, be involved with some dodgy horse owners that were also stakeholder in the club, invoke nepotism via his employment of his sons on and off the pitch and more... The owners should’ve completely accommodated to tuchel and his style of management. That was their first big mistake. They forgot that he was the NUMBER 1 guy at chelsea, every fan adored him, the players loved him (or at least the vast majority). If they backed him and made him feel supported then the owners would’ve been a lot more popular quicker and chelsea would be in a better position now. They should’ve done EVERYTHING to make sure he could do his job and make it as easy as possible for him. Instead, they ripped everything up and started from scratch, thinking they knew best when they lack any experience in football. Unsurprisingly, it hasn’t worked very well.

Yep. I get what Simon's saying about the boss-employee dynamic (said from a bosses prospective mind) but at the end of the day life is about leverage & who's worth more and the best bosses understand this - put their personal feelings and/or notions of professionalism/respect aside & do what's necessary. Case in point Abramovich & Conte, he was an unprofessional twit from the beginning but Abramovich only took action when he failed his objective, if he'd won the league year after year he'd still of been our manager when Roman left no matter how much of a tool he is. Tuchel's laughing at Boehly right now as he should because he's shown him up as weak. You want a yes man? Enjoy mid-table then idiot, shame about that CL money I'd have provided for you lol

The problem with chelsea is that they overplay. The only players that do not overplay are Sterling, Kante, James , and Kovacic. The premier league is a fast game to win games one has to get the opponents napping. Once you overplay over dribble the opponents will regroup. That is why chelsea dominate possession but never score goals. Crystal palace and Man United is another one that overplays. Roy Hodgson seems to have given them a little bit of elasticity.

Jordan is wrong Chelsea did not batter Aston Villa they had a load of shots but Villa were in control of the game they let Chelsea attack as they knew they wouldn’t score and then they could counter even Chelsea fans would tell you that. Jordan got the stats wrong too Villa actually had more shots one of which hit the bar and another should have been scored by Watkins they just had 2 on target and scored them which is what a good team do.

Potter got Brighton possession football 2nd only to Man City after one season, it doesn't happen overnight especially with new players who need a good season to adjust, there still in the champions league which they are more than capable of winning or getting to the final or semi final so what was the point of hiring him in the first place, managers should be protected more and not allowed to be fired within 12 months or in there first season, that's on the owners and chairman

In fairness to Simon, his views may be polarizing but he does inspire good debate, that's the name of the game. He does show - perhaps - he is slightly out of touch when addressing transfers. The reality is for very big clubs, is that players are recruited as an independent stream. The manager might get consulted. A new coach, perhaps after the event. The huge sums doesn't sound like Potter's core strategy. Owners perspective in so-called planning these days - regards recruitment reaches far beyond the demise of their current coach. 8 year contracts. How many Chelsea managers within 8 years? So players are assets for the club, the manager's job is to fit them in. It;s the same with PSG, Real, Man Utd etc. etc. etc.

Can someone explain to them that changing the manager so often isn't the answer. Maybe the one that's doing the hiring and firing should have a good, long, hard look at themselves. Might be a wise thing to do. Just a suggestion.

If there is a sensible owner at both Chelsea and Leicester, they should swap Brendan Rodgers with Graham Potter. For Potter , the next level was to be at Leicester and hence it was a wrong fit for Chelsea’s top 4 competing, half a billion quid spending big 4 club. For Rodgers, Leister is no more motivating , had struggled to invest, not challenging as a top 6 club. I think Rodgers would get better response from Chelsea team than Potter and vice versa for Leicester

Lost count of the number of times in years gone by where I heard that English managers never get the opportunity to manage one of the so-called ‘bigger’ clubs. Well, 7 months was a long as one of these ‘bigger’ clubs was prepared to give an English manager. Giving him the job was a big leap of faith which ultimately backfired. It’s a big job whoever gets it and making the tough call whether some of the recent big money buys may not fit into the new managers plans.

This is the best decision we’ve made and should have been done months ago, in fact he should never have been hired in the first place. Chelsea need top managers that can handle one of the biggest jobs in world football. Bring in Naglesmann - he looks the real deal and has already handled Bayern .

They should NOT have bought any players in January. They should have let Potter work with what he had for half a season then at the end of the season sat down with the owner and decided THEN who to sell and who to keep. THEN they could have decided who they needed to spend all their cash on. THAT is common sense, THAT is good management. Potter was totally sticthed up from the moment he arrived. I'm so glad he signed a 5 year deal because he deserves every single penny of his huge pay-off for suffering that club.

Battered villa? They had 30 shots...not 30 shots on goal. It was a classic Emery performance. They had 1 clear cut chance. They can have all the ball in the world it doesn't mean anything if they can't break teams down.

All this talk about buying a center forward, is as if Potter never had Aubameyang seating on the bench. He even removed him for the Champions league list and still refused to bench Havertz despite his underperfomance in the EPL. PS: He also has Fofana who is hungry but no.
