To my knowledge, the first mention that the D of Westminster was Archie's godfather was last December, when this wedding row first made the news. Prior to that, the only 3 names on the list of A's godparents that H&M eventually, belatedly, issued after his alleged christening (itself an event that is shrouded in mystery, as it was supposedly conducted at Windsor by the Archbishop of Canterbury but records show that on that same day he was also in York attending a Synod) were Tiggy Pettifer, Charlie von Straubenzee, and Mark Dyer. This would be the normal configuration of godparents for a boy baby - two godfathers and one godmother (although the royals do often go for up to six, with three of each gender). But to have four, with 3 godfathers and only one godmother, is distinctly odd. So I have assumed that the DoW is not in fact A's godfather at all, and that the claim was falsely made by H&M to strengthen their claim of equal closeness to the Duke as William (whose son George definitely IS the Duke's godson), on the basis that he would not stoop to publicly deny it. They've definitely got form for this sort of thing - 'oh, we got married 3 days before the 'spectacle' public wedding, didn't you know? That was only for show. The archbishop popped over and married us in the garden at home...' Etc etc.
