In this video, it is my first time riding with someone else. I must admit I was a little nervous, but he was there to help me every step of the way. He gave me some tips on how to stay safe and comfortable and by the end of the ride, I think I really improved.
I'm a beginner rider, so I'm a little nervous about the wind. But my buddy is a more experienced rider, and he gives me some tips on how to stay safe. We have a great time on our ride, and I learn a lot about riding in strong winds.
If you're a beginner rider, I hope this video is inspiring! And if you're not a rider, I hope this video gives you a glimpse into the world of motorcycle riding. Thanks for watching!
Here are some tips for helping a beginner rider feel safe and comfortable:
Be patient and understanding. It takes time to learn how to ride a motorcycle, so don't get frustrated if your friend makes mistakes.
Start in a safe and controlled environment. A parking lot or empty road is a good place to start.
Give your friend plenty of time to get used to the controls. Don't rush them into anything they're not comfortable with.
Be positive and encouraging.
Go at your own pace. Let the beginner rider lead the way and set the pace.
Have fun! Riding a motorcycle is a great way to experience the open road.

Well you have typical beginner fears. Been there. Weather, darkness and traffic. Classic. You will overcome them. Once your brain realizes it has control of the motorcycle you will be calm much more. Weather isn't dangerous. It just gets the bike dirty. Darkness is just the absence of light and with a good headlight it's really no issue. Traffic will always be a bit bothering since other drivers are the biggest risk. But keep riding. You will feel more confident and enjoy it more over time. Great work 😊

Here's a trick. When backing up, throw it in neutral and shut the bike off. There's no worrying about over revving it or holding the clutch in.

Love the palm trees i just took the insurance off of my bike im going to sell it and get a cruiser i have a Honda CBR 600F4 right not and i just wind up going faster then i need to be driving so i think ill invest in a cruiser. Keep safe have fun 😉

Getting better. Trick to the wind is to relax. Don’t tighten that grip. Trust your bike will stay up. It will.

Rain is an annoying one, you get wet. But you're on a cruiser, hardly dragging knee as it is, so I wouldn't worry too much about grip. As long as you're smooth on all the controls and allow yourself the space to react and smoothly stop (if needed), rain is no big deal. Do watch out for oil/diesel spills though. If you see a puddle or stain that's rainbow colours - avoid it. They can take away all your grip and straight up low side you in a bend, but if you're fully upright you'll be out of them before you know it. They'll still leave slippery shyte on your tyres though. That's your biggest hazard at night too - not spotting a road surface hazard. Even then, as long as you're not leaning over much and stay dead steady when it happens, it might scare you but you'll be fine. It's when you panic and do "something" (for the sake of doing something) that things go wrong. Same as aquaplaning in a car - if you keep the wheel dead steady, you're out of it in less than a second and it's no big deal. If you panic and steer a lot (because nothing's happening), the moment those tyres are out of the water, the car tries to flip over. My advice would be one milestone at a time. Treat it like the gym - push outside your comfort zone until it starts becoming your comfort zone. Then push some more. Eventually you'll notice you have a very broad comfort zone. Also I highly recommend signing up for Moto Gymkhana. It's the fastest and most fun way to learn bike control.

Hello Rea I love that you are getting out and riding more. Driving in traffic can be scary and nerve wrecking but you will get more comfortable with it and that will come with time. Also just as a tip I shoot a lot with my insta 360 cam and just letting you know that there is an option if you want to take out the "shot on the insta 360 x3". Unless you want it there of course. Love the videos keep it up.

It's always better to ride with a friend. Riding in a group is a whole new situation that requires some practice and clear rules that need spelling out before setting off. Whenever you're on the road you need to be alert not only for what you're doing but also to anticipate what others on the road might do but not to the point where it spoils your enjoyment of a ride. You will get more confident as you do more riding. I always wave to others on bikes be they on scooters, two wheels or three like me. Enjoy your time on the road. Thanks for sharing your video.

Not sure if you have your license or not, or if you brought this up previously then I apologize for being redundant. A lot of people that are new to riding are not aware that there are courses that you can take that are provided by the state, some do cost money, I believe, but for PA, it is free, you never need to have ridden a motorcycle to be a part of it. They even provide you with motorcycles and helmets (if needed), you learn a lot from it and if you pass you get your license. There are more courses depending on how far you want to take it but I found out from someone about it and I had no idea that was offered and most of the people that I tell about it are completely unaware of it as well.

Thank you for this. I do have my license and took the MSF course. It was super helpful and I'm considering taking the more advanced course they offer where you do the course with your own bike instead of the ones they let you use.

I remember my first ride out and then a few at night to gain some confidence it didn't take long until I was taking stupid risks....Just protect your bubble I always rode with an escape in mind if something ever popped off. If you're nervous at big things don't let it get to you as long as your shoulder checking and aware of it's position while keeping in mind your bubble you'll be fine in no time :)

You look really comfortable even if you're not. With backing into a space, try to do a turn so that you're able to walk straight back into the space. It's a lot easier than trying to turn backwards. With big vehicles, your bike is quite big so they should see you. Although, next time I would get a coloured helmet to give people a better chance of seeing you. You're doing fantastic 🎉

I stall my bike all the time. Sometimes I just don't give her enough throttle. Always feels a bit embarrassing, but really it's no big deal. Starter switch is in a REALLY handy location for a reason. With enough practice you'll get so quick at it that other traffic won't even notice what happened.

I can relate! I don't ride in rain and I don't like to go on the high way... I guess it is just a matter of getting comfortable on the bike. And don't get me starting on parking. It takes me like 5 minutes to back in a spot. 😂

It's definitely all about getting comfortable. I feel like such a fair weather rider but I'm just scared to go out in the rain & high speeds on the highway intimidate me. But with time and practice hopefully I'll get over that fear :)

@@RidewithRea Being a fair-weather rider is 100% okay. Riding is not easy. Learn and get comfortable in good conditions before venturing out of that. If you're nervous, listen to that. It's a process, and it takes time for everyone.

Hey quick question, this is the second video I notice you ride with visor up. Seeing as it is dangerous if a bug or something hits your eyes, have you thought of wearing glasses/goggles? Or is it that it's hard to see with your visor down?

thank you for this question. I keep it up sometimes because it gets a bit hot and foggy, especially on really warm days :/ I tend to feel a bit claustrophobic with it down sometimes. I think it just takes some time to get used to. I know I should ride with it down for safety. I haven't considered glasses or goggles but maybe that would be more helpful

It's down to speed and location. At anything up to 30mph in town I have my helmet completwly open (modular). Maybe the sun visor will be down. Faster than that, or maybe out of town, it'll be closed and I'll just pop open a vent. In traffic on motorways I'll also open it to keep cool while filtering, and close it as soon as the cars go fast enough. At low speeds bugs are less of a hazard, it's dust that'll get you.

Riding at night is so much safer than riding in the day. It feels like night wouldn't be, and there's more accidents at night. The accidents during the night, though, are the people who ride or drive like idiots. The roads are mostly clear at night, which makes them safer. Just ride safe and you'll be fine

I dissagree, you can't see what's in or on the road, at night; like ice, gravel, sand, animals, etc. Riding a bike is very different than driving a car, looking ahead on the road, is very important, for safety. Riding bikes made me a better driver. It's a whole nother world! But, there's nothing else like it 😍
