A Mourinho team vs a team made of feathers was always going to be a nightmare to referee. As a neutral I honestly didn't know what team to root for, they both behaved embarrassingly. Considering how both teams were constantly in the refs face no matter the decision, he did a solid job

Yes, absolutely, let's respect the referees. Let's also have them held accountable when they make horrendous calls (I'm not speaking about this particular match). They never have to explain their decisions, even when they are mistakes that directly impact a match.

Unfortunately that's gonna make no impact to respect. It may drive the wedge further as Mourihno and the fans didnt intimidate the ref because he didn't admit to mistakes (I think all penalty shouts were adjudicated correctly)

different game - it's harder to ref - less conclusive decisions. Every game in football there is literally 10 decisions that could be argued as correct or incorrect. In Rugby that number is far less. Not saying they get everything right but they get a lot more right than wrong.

it was a case of ball hitting the hand in a natural position, there was no obstruction. Just because you repeat a thing 10 times doesn't make it true. You can watch the replays. Referee was top notch.

Klopp received a 1match ban after berating Tierney in front of the TV cameras and then in a press conference called him bias. He had already received a 1 match ban this season so the FA failed to protect the refs by issuing a suirable ban. His reaction to the ban was to ask who spends the fine money. Don't complain about the treatment of the officials when you let managers insult and call into question the impartiality of the officials and then don't correctly punish the managers.

Wether that’s how we want the rules to be that way or not is up for dispute I’m sure everyone watching the Munich City game thought both penalties were ridiculous but they were given, it’s the consistency that var was brought into deal with which undermines the credibility of these calls.

I agree, but the standard of Taylor shouldn't be acceptable. He was awful and clearly had a favourite. Refs get far to much protection.

It is probably not the best option to suggest but if referees started to chin managers and players who threaten them, behaviour will improve dramatically.

Agree with Simon here - stadium bans - Klopp got off light and they waited until Pool's position was settled in table. Jose should not be anywhere for Roma's final match in Serie A.

Why is Simon making excuses for UEFA's mismanagement? Matterface is spot on, 3 of the most recent major finals UEFA organised have been a mess. Also, the independent investigation on the Paris final pointed at UEFA's Slovenian Head of Security, Ceferin's mate and countryman, who hasn't faces any reprecussions.

On the pitch only a captain should be able to challenge a referee, and should only do it respectfully. Managers cannot be allowed to behave like that. We should follow the example of rugby and respect officials. We can’t be allowed to abuse referees. Refs may need better coaching and accountability but that’s with their own body.

@@glynisvincent3707 the role modelling to kids is appalling. It’s similar in the premier league… players and managers get away with murder. Should 100% be clamped down on. We have VAR to correct decisions and most of the time players are trying to con referees anyway. It’s a very difficult job at high speed.
