I recently sold most of my game collection and I felt the same way - relieved. I didn’t realize how mentally cluttered I felt until after I sold my stuff. I think I may have mistakenly based my personal value on my collection. It’s weird to come out and say it like that, but I also noticed I wasn’t as anxious anymore after it was all gone too. Maybe the minimalist lifestyle is the way to go?!

I can understand to am extent being a collector myself. I don't know if I would say all my personal value is connected to it but their is something intimate about it. It's a part of you that you built. I feel like theirs just soo much weight and how you see Collector and your identity is part of it. Once you give it up I feel like you do clean up.

90% of my owned games, I still have not played. And the other 10% would be my curated list. I couldn't bring myself to get rid of that 90% until I've played them. But, after playing them there wouldn't be any attachment to them. Like Shadow of Mordor is a game I bought really cheap. And if I had played it, I could part with it easy peasy. But, Ocarina of Time (N64 cart), even though I would play the game on a more recent device, I would keep as a showpiece.

Thank you for clarifying what so many haters needed to hear ever since you and Caleb made the announcement for this i seen so many negative comments on how your getting ripped off and all this stuff these people need to grasp at the end of the day it is not there deal being made its yours if you are happy that's all that matters on top of that any place that sells stuff is going to have to male a deal under market value to actually make a profit no one is going to buy market value then sell over because for starters it inflates the market and 2 its morally wrong I would support a reseller looking for deals way before a scalper looking to inflate the market for there personal gain also this talk of Caleb not being a gamer is also not true and im happy you pointed that out as well The sad part is at the end of the day the people who need to hear this won't want to so its sadly falling on deaf ears but im very happy with the honest truth being said for once so hopefully this will silence some people on the subject

You have to look at long term. 10-20 years from now your ROMS in you Nes or Sega ETC will go bad and fail. Disc Rot is a thing I have had some of my Sega Saturn games not play anymore for that reason. And no the disc was not damaged or scratch completely mint!!!! These games and older console are not built to last FOREVER!!! Kind of have to pick your battles. Market is high right now and depending on when you bought your games could make some serious cash. @@Assassin-ys5vw 100% hit the nail on the head. Either way, the opinions of others on someone's personal business dealings is lame. If the seller and buyer are happy with the outcome that's really all that matters. Most of these people are just upset with the idea of flippers in general. They're mad the market has become super inflated. That's just the name of the game. The market speaks for itself, and if people are willing to spend exorbitant prices, then why wouldn't flippers sell for said amount? The customer/product availability set the market. Most of my collection is basically worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it at the end of the day.

One day I just looked at all that "stuff" and decided that I didn't need or want it anymore. I honestly feel like your shelves look waaaay better now! Back when your shelves were loaded, it was difficult to distinguish any games from the collection. Now instead of "just another collection", it has personality. You've kept what you wanted to, and you can display them in a neat and pretty cool way. (edit) You mention this at the end of your video, so I guess we're in the same boat!

I think the market bubble is definitely going to burst soon. I've seen a lot of collectors selling off their collections and I feel like eventually there will be a point where there's suddenly a lot of games on the market again that the market just goes down again. Maybe that's a good thing for the younger gamers out there that want to collect like us older folk but feel like they can't cause they're so expensive, maybe it's their time to collect before the market goes way up again. Cycle of life I guess? Idk, I could be wrong and the market could just end up getting worse, wouldn't surprise me either. I don't collect for everything. I decided to collect only for PS1, PS2, and GameCube. The consoles I grew up with. Do I have other stuff? Of course I have a few Wii games, Xbox games, and Switch stuff but that's not my focus just stuff I wanted to play on those platforms. When you don't try to go for everything and just go for the stuff that means something to you and you actually care about it makes you a lot happier and it's a huge weight off your shoulders.

@FunSize141 Fair, honestly, and I did say it won't surprise me if it got much worse, but at the same time, games weren't costing 600+ 15 years ago. Maybe a select few did go for that, but these days, it feels like people will price any game at an absurd price to see who will bite.

LOL, providing a service getting them off his hands??? Dude it’s not hard to sell retro videogames. I don’t know if you know but the Market is Red Hot and things are selling for well beyond what they are worth. Phoenix Re Sale wants to buy things on the cheap so he can turn around and sell it to someone else for way more money. He is only in it for the money. Him and others like him are the reason why the Retro Market has got out of hand. RGT 85 didn’t need a favour to get rid of his games

I totally get it. You’re healthy and happy. Your shelf looks better. I’m selling a lot of consoles lately, and the more I sell, the more I enjoy the ones I’m keeping. And there’s extra money in the bank. Also, the joy of having bought something cheap, fixed it up, enjoyed it and then letting it go to someone who wants it more than you do, and making a profit at the same time, that’s a good feeling. You’re doing the right thing.

At least you kept a quality amount. I did something similar getting rid of most of the extraneous games in my collection, but since it wasn’t like 1000 games or anything, more like 200 and I reduced it to like 140, keeping the majority. It was pretty quality to begin with so good to know I can grab almost anything in my collection and it’s likely to be pretty good or better.

CLICKBAIT! Yout title litteraly says ripped me off in title then you say in the video you didnt get ripped off and yes in the end he did rip you off since you wont say what the total value was and how much you got for it. But yea its a relief for your getting rid of your stuff because you you had so much and you didnt have enough room to display it like some people on other channels that might have rooms to display they stuff like some of my dedicated youtubers out there.
