I had never done BJJ before I started, but I wrestled for 13 years and coached it for 3. Between that and watching far too much MMA a lot of motions, flow, and base came fairly easily and even somewhat naturally. This guy has done other 30 day martial arts challenges, and is clearly in excellent shape... its not surprising to me that he was picking stuff up quick and able to comprehend some basics before being taught by the BJJ instructors.

I think it can be 30 days of experience if literally its been all you've been doing. I did really well when I first started because I would go home everyday after class and just watch competition match footage and take notes and drill movements. Was fucking addicted. Also i have found that people who have any kind of sports experience just tend to pick it up faster. Like he did train Mauy Thai so part of his brain is wired to be a physical learner. I think its possible he got that good but at the same time its not typical.

i have been doing jiu jitsu for 8 years , and to be honest , i see a lot of new guys coming lately and i was amazed by some of them , by how natural they are with understanding they are leaving arms or legs hanging, or understanding when they are putting the weight wrong and losing the positions . Some thinks that might come to us "naturally" because we practiced , sometimes some people are just naturals at some sports. Hope he continues because he looked really fast on the mat.
@cwbomba132 жыл бұрын
30 consecutive days of training, especially when you start with an athletic background like he has, will absolutely get you to your first stripe at pretty much any gym in America. The thing is, most people don't train every single day. So 30 days in the gym takes them a lot longer than 1 month. Combine that with the colored belts playing with their food, and yeah this is pretty believable to me lol

TLDR: Bjj is just a good experience and amazing for character building. It benefited me so much. I was a skinny nerd who was bullied by basically everyone like all my school life. Mostly due to my physical condition called dyspraxia which causes hand eye foot coordination problems and sometimes speech problems (slight stutter and slurred speech when not fully calm). Being bullied made me nervous all the time that made all my symptoms worse which led to more bullying. After school I was basically a scared wreck, I was sick of feeling that way so I decided to do martial arts, that brought me to bjj.....and mate I fell in love. I just loved the actual sport of bjj and wanted to get better...just because I liked it. I was still pretty meek for a while...till certain things happened in training. I started being put up against all the new white belts who had a 'chip on their shoulder' because I was the smallest guy in the room, super polite, looks geeky and as one brown belt told me "can be a killer if they want to". I starred to dominate people I would of been scared of on the streets, even almost seriously hurt a few really stubborn guys who started to get rough. After that....it was a weight being lifted from me, the world didn't seem as scary, still as negative...but I didn't feel the danger all day every day. Now I am so much different. I know have the actual confidence to positively impact those around me and it feels good. If it wasn't for bjj I would probably be cramped in my flat not even confident enough to get a job.

That’s definitely what 30 days of bjj for someone fairly smart and athletic looks like. I been training for about 2 months 3 days a week (so about 30 classes) and I noticed huge improvements. Hey Martial, as someone thats been doing both Gi and Nogi for 7 years, here's what Ive noticed about some levels. Girls nogi vs gi: most girls that Ive rolled with over the years tend to be more aggressive with their attacks and set ups in nogi whereas they are more reserved in the gi. The reason is (especially the ones who study Marcelo Garcia) once someone grabs a hold of the gi, your freedom of movement becomes very limited. You cannot do shots effectively, if at all, because all the other person has to do is just stiff-arm your sleeve or collar. In nogi, its all about handfighting. Although girls are smaller and lighter, they have to rely on their speed, so if they are good at handfighting, the only other option is to shoot in, pummel, or pull guard and pray they are not experienced with head & arm attacks. Personally, I think the girl was going light on him in their matches and letting him work. Otherwise a Brown belt would not allow a new person to pass their guard that easily.
@GMPhSyCoTiC2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t think he was going for a pendulum sweep. I use the same exact sequence but instead of holding the opponents right arm, I pull the sleeve/arm towards my belly to get the elbow there and then throw my left leg over their face to get an arm bar from the bottom. That armbar was there even if he was going for the sweep because they work together. Good stuff man 👍🏽

Most of the time as a lower belt rolling with a higher belts all you’re doing is defending subs. After training He definitely has the skills of a mid leveled white belt. Seemed like he had training before even on first day. The guy definitely did what a good blue belt do against decent white belts. Brown belt female seemed a bit sus unless she was being nice and letting him work. She looked more of a high leveled blue or low level purple belt with that roll with experience. Loved the bow and arrow tho one of my favorite gi chokes.

Atleast not in the typical sense. He had very bad stamina, speed and strength when we started. But when it came to drilling, sparring and training in technique, even the coaches struggled to believe that he had absolutely no combat sport experience other than doing karate for like 2 months when he was 9. If he is telling the truth, he has a ton of natural ability. My first month training my coach told me I was a natural as well, and I picked up a lot on my own just fighting with my buddies in their back yard, I didn't know what pulling guard was, but I did it instinctively, once of my favorite submissions to pull was a guillotine choke without knowing the actual name of what I was doing, so it is possible that his experiences have prepared him for it more than other people, but if this is a 30 day first timer, there is no doubt he is absolutely gifted.

I’m also starting to hold my own and hit reversals, and submissions on new purple belts from other schools. He absolutely looks like a 1+ - 2 years white belt. You can actually be a natural gifted athlete and go into a BJJ gym and hang on pretty well.I have seen many of these people. Many of them sadly quit and never become advanced BJJ fighters. Also the brown belt is a lady going against a strong young man, so you can basically remove 1-2 of her belts, so in the fight she is basically a male blue belt.

If you've watched some of these videos then sometimes you see that a very athletic person has some built-in hand-eye coordination and speed and power that makes them look a lot better than the average white belt. Especially if you're a athletic male who's much larger than the woman who has the brown belt. You may not beat her on day one but if you get to the equal belt status and you're a lot bigger than her you probably have a pretty big advantage. I've seen other videos where high level athletes rolled with jujitsu and they were normally doing much better than a normal guy who walked in off the streets.

He’s definitely at least watched it before the 30 days

What a fun concept for a channel. 30 days of something to see improvement

I think you’re underestimating people I was submitting blue belts like 3 weeks after the first time I ever stepped on a mat

I believe it as thirty days of training. not start class, and thirty days later, but actually thirty days. so like 10 weeks, I figure

Some people have a natural feel for rolling. For me BJJ is almost natural, I just have a feel for others bodies I know what’s gonna hurt someone if I twist it and I know how to put leverage and also squirm my way out of positions. However when I did wrestling it was like I was brand new because so much of the things I would have naturally done were illegal.

I myself have just watched bjj have wrestled with friends and never set foot in a place like this and know most of the stuff this guys does about keeping limbs in chokes leg locks arm bars etc so I’m not surprised this guy who looks athletic and smart could watch some videos and learn a bit before going into it

I did hear the instructor say you picked that up really quickly, so they taught him a lot more than just basic safety stuff, so def. not just a day 1 beginner like I'd be if I walked into any type of martial arts place.
