“Why would you not give him an opportunity”. Speaking as if he doesn’t already get starts. He’ll never be a starter though, scoring 2 goals late is very different to controlling a midfield for 90 minutes which I’ve never seen Scott do. I like him as a united fan but he’ll never be a started unless he learns to show for the ball and pass the ball forward.

Great comment. 26 years old with over 200 appearances for united and people start talking about him like he’s this hidden gem because he’s scored 2 goals and then a disallowed one for Scotland. Literally every untied fan loves Scott but knows that he’s one of the most incosistent players you’ll ever see and can’t be relied on to start every week for that reason.

@PRCOM the fact that we had to be rescued indicates a bigger problem. One Mctominay cannot fix but has contributed to by staying this summer when he should have left. He is dead weight and not good enough

it's only because he grew about a foot in his final youth level year that they just assumed "oh well he's a big lad, he must be a defensive player now". As hard as it is to believe, when he was a youth player he was actually short for his age for most of his youth career, so he was seen more as a technical midfielder.

as bad as Everton are, mctominay wouldn't get in ahead of onana or doucoure. The latter is a total lemon but he weighs in with important goals. Mctominay I suppose does this too for Scotland, but at club level he hardly ever scores, although strangely when he does score he gets two

He’d be the same for united given the chance,but he didn’t cost 50/60 million so he won’t get a run in a more forward position,great technique causes mayhem in the box,but we’ll persevere with the likes of ericksen and mount.

The genuine difference is Scotlands current squad have a club mentality and all the players want to be there and play for each other. At Man United it’s toxic just now. I’m a McTominay fan but he’s not a top 6 player but reckon he would be a good starter for the majority of PL teams. I hoped Celtic would’ve got him on loan as he would’ve done a job

He deserves his chance up front and focused on the attacking side of the ball. Get him out of the no. 6 position. Quit treating him like DM. He isn’t a defensive midfielder and it’s been proven over and over again. 😐

McTominay was labelled as a CM or even a DM when his positioning off the ball is not good enough. He doesn't scan enough & doesn't position well enough to block passing lanes, the issue is that both Bruno & Mount are the same. Man U for years had no DM but the worse part is that the coaching staff had no clue what a midfield & DM is meant to do, now Ten Hag is going backwards with that. Man U have 3 players for the position of CAM/10 & not enough CMs... Eriksen is a CM but his legs are gone & he's lazy. Casemiro & Maimoo worked so well because Maimoo was a modern CM that did his job in the midfield & covered the midfield. Man U fans & Ten Hag can't see this & I can't wait till they go back to not having a DM for decades cause Man U fans forgot how it was before.

The rewriting of McTominay is strange. He had multiple games at Manchester United especially when he was a guarantee starter under Ole and most of his games are shocking performance after shocking performance. Just because he's scoring goals for Scotland and defeated Brentford doesn't change anything with him. McTominay should be playing for Watford and that's me being considerate. He's not good enough for Manchester United. End of discussion.

Wasn't even a shot...was a whipped cross towards far post. As for utd....he goes missing all the time, constantly hides behind opposition player's and offers absolutely nothing apart from an inevitable booking. People getting excited coz we played hoof ball against Brentford and he happened to be in the right place at the right time.
