Because van Riemsdyk was in a vulnerable position. Rempe didn't raise his elbow, he kept it tucked in. Again, he's just tall, but he was clearly going for the body here and that's where the main point of contact is.

Rempe was at the end of a long shift because of 2 icing calls so he wasn’t gonna fight. It was also a 3-1 game. TVR shouldn’t be admiring his pass when the 4th line is on the ice. Expect to get hit and his teammates should be relaying the info that Rempe is coming. It was a clean hit with his shoulder down and TVR never gets hurt if he doesn’t admires his pass. Hockey 101

Never act in the way your opponent wants you to. There is no reason for Rempe to fight Wilson, the Rangers have been in control of this series from the start. Wilson is trying to give his team a spark, which is understandable, but the Rangers are not going to give it them. If there is a fight between the two, it will probably be in the 3rd period of the next game when the Rangers are about to eliminate the Caps. Quite frankly, if I was the coach of the Rangers, I would tell Rempe to continue to skate away.

I promise you his coach has absolutely told him not to fight here. There's zero benefit for the Rangers if he does. It only helps the Caps and if he gets hurt and is out a few games again...what value is there? Wilson I don't think gets him to go unless Wilson does Wilson things and takes a huge cheap shot at a Ranger. That might get a brawl going. Beyond that I don't think Rempe takes him up.

He didn’t get a charge. He got an interference penalty which was also BS since the pick was gone less than .06 seconds. There have been many hits from both teams in this series that were much later and weren’t called. The ref even told Rempe it was a “tad” late and that’s why he called the penalty. Again, BS with how inconsistent they have been. It was a penalty based on reputation only. Allowed to leave your feet as long as feet are on the ice at the start of the hit. Physics mandates that momentum will propel you upwards and your skates will leave the ice. Rempe’s skates are clearly on the ice at the beginning of this hit. Learn hockey and learn the actual rules before making asinine, uninformed comments.

Everyone Rempe has fought so far in the NHL is tougher than Wilson. Leave out the part where Rempe was on the ice for over a minute and Wilson was fresh off the bench. Laviolette has to give Rempe the green light to go also which will only happen if/when Wilson runs someone

Lol the lesson is you don't have to fight to prove you're tough when your up 3-0 in the series. As my former coaches would say "hurt them on the scoreboard". Then we would just point to the scoreboard when they wanted to throw down. Advantage of the winning team, desperation of the losing one.

The principle point of contact isn't clear. Could just as easily be chest or hips either way, the fact that nobody wants him / his head is down is crazy. Easily avoidable hit and Rempe just goes side to side.

Canucks have two guys that are taller. Not quite as tall as Rempe, but Zadorov and Myers are above 6'5". They get called for head shots a lot, but have learned to keep it low. Rempe will learn, or get suspended.

Impartial fan here who 's just making an observation. I think it was the righjt call, if it was regular season ( interferance call) but for the playoffs? I thought it was a good play and clean, that if i was officiating, i wouldn't even call. keep your head up in the playoffs is what i'm saying. Espescially if there's a killer on the ice. He should have been aware of that IMO
