What Happened To This First Round pick from the Montreal Canadiens? Louis Leblanc never turned out like we expected.

Timmins said in an interview later that he wanted to draft Kreider ahead of Leblanc but because of the fans, he had to take the Québécois or he would’ve been escorted by security. That’s why you should never take the fans’ opinion into consideration when you’re drafting. Especially Habs fans who are always angry at everything that the organization does. Louis Leblanc showed why fans are fans and a team management is paid to make the franchise better. Btw, I’m not saying the Subban-Weber, Sergachev-Drouin and Galchenyuk-Domi trades are good, because I’d be lying. But they’re more informed than the casual fans and you have to trust them. And to all the Habs fans and media, it’s a different time. Back in the 50s-60s and 70s we were literally given the star players and the Stanley Cups. And now that we don’t win, you want to fire everybody. There is only one team who wins the Stanley Cup and with all due respect to the Canadiens, there are lots of teams in the League who deserve the Cup more than we do.

Thats well said bud, nice feedback and you’re right it’s easy to go that route. I really feel like Montreal should 100% rebuild but the Montreal Hockey Market always has that pressure to win every year type of vibe.

Hockey Circle Exactly and they should enter a rebuild/retool like the Rangers did, while being honest to their fans. From what I’ve heard, Rangers fans have accepted the current state of the team. New York’s a big market with big expectations. Same with Toronto. These two teams are more advanced in their rebuild than the Habs, especially the Leafs. But I feel like Montreal media and fans (not all of them) are just obnoxious and just want to criticize everything just to criticize. Again, before the draft, people were saying that we should draft Kotkaniemi instead of Zadina and then after the draft and after they got their goddamn center, the exact same people said that it was an awful decision and that Zadina was way better. I’m a teen and I feel like I’m more mature and more realistic than most Habs fans. Everytime the Habs make a decision or a trade that’s questionable, I try to look at the positive side of things, unlike the media and the dans who, even when the Canadiens make a great move for once, always think negatively.

I know it’s crazy how the most of the Montreal fan base is driven by well lets say idiots haha. Rangers did an amazing job on the way they handle things and yes the blame is on the fans but the habs organisation needs to put a big boy pair of pants and be clear on where are they going.

Excellent discussion! ....and the thing about committing to a full-on rebuild in the current NHL is that it's progressively becoming more and more a younger man's game and I'd argue that biting that bullet and rebuilding isn't even as long-term a sacrifice of an endeavor as it once was.

2 in one day? Nice! Disappointing story, though. The Canadiens really never seemed good at developing players to me. The closest I can relate is Jacob Josefson with the Devils. 1st round pick, but never put up good numbers at all.

You told us everything that happened on the ice, but I'd really like to know what was going on outside of hockey? Seriously, was he training hard, was he partying?? How does one fall so short when the he had all the skills? Strange...

He played many games but check the minutes though he actually played . They put him on the 3rd line . The habs ruined him . He didn’t ruin himself at all. If you seen him in Junior he was destroying it . For Team Canada he did very well playing with Tavares

Is coach when he was playing for Harvard said that he was miss manage because of all the hype build around him he was playing the role of a power forward when he was 6’0 and 180 pounds. And the fact that he quit the NCAA for the Q wasnt à good choice

I would debate with you guys because I’ve watched him play forever . He was the next thing . The habs didn’t use him and play him properly . They wanted him to become a hitter. The habs ruined him. You guys don’t like French players
