I’m 90% sure this video is targeted at people unfamiliar with all this bs. Monopoly is a recognizable franchise, so saying, “Look at what THIS is doing!” gets more attention from people not in the know. Being said, the woman making this video is acting like it’s a new issue, which is what I think makes it strange? Like she could have emphasized more that this is a wide ranging issue that’s been happening for awhile with many games now.

Many years ago, I had no life. After a surgery i had about six months ahead of me where i couldnt work, fell asleep for an hour every 2 hours, etc. So to pass the time I played a LOT of Marvel Puzzle Quest - just bejeweled, but you can collect gems to make Hulk punch Nick Fury in the face. I was at the top of the game since I played so much for a few months. One day I was chatting with my guildmates and the topic of how much we spent came up. I said hah, nothing, i just no life it. My guildies were saying im at 100, oh im at 500, ah shit I do 1000! And im like yo wtf did you just say you spend a THOUSAND dollars on battle bejeweled? He said no, were all talking about how much we spend a month. Ive been playing a year and a half now, so i guess im at like 20k. I said well damn, are you like, a bitcoin millionaire or a lawyer or something? He said no... i cant really afford this. Shit was life changing for me. All of a sudden everyone was talking about how messed up their life is and how they hide their spending but they want to be able to keep up. I couldn't play anymore. It sickened me.

That's not the app's fault, they give you plenty of warnings, on top of that you should know to be aware of your surroundings when you're outside, it's common sense. Definitely dangerous for children though.

My older brother is a craps player. He has his allowance of what he will gamble and its like the only game he plays. He enjoys it becausen it's everyone at the table all on the same team, including the hosts because you can place bets for the staff working the table so both you and the staff want to win because their tip gets bigger.

Monopoly is not about capitalism. The creator of the game was a Georgist. Georgists are pro-capital, but believe that land should not be viewed as a form of wealth. That's why it was called the "Landlords Game", it's anti-landlord, and one of the main arguments from Georgists were that the supposed conflict between capitalists and workers was a distraction from the more righteous conflict that should exist between landlords and everyone else. It was absolutely not about income inequality. That also doesn't make sense. You can't lose in monopoly by another player having more than you; you lose by owing more in rent then you can pay.

Despite what people claim over and over and over again, The Landlord's Game was *not* about destroying capitalism or whatever. It was promoting Georgist philosophy, keeping capitalism but taxing the unimproved value of land. It even came with a second set of rules with that tax system, and was designed to show how everyone becomes richer in a capitalist system should you tax the unimproved value of land. Of course, over-produced video essays about nothing aren't really known for their fact checking.

Yeah, this game doesn't do well for the less patient. I think I'm almost on board 300, just chilling opening up the game once or twice a day. Near the top of (my friendlist) board while spending less than $10... but I know others have had less control. The last friend I passed had no qualms with spending money to get more dice / buffs / cards etc. He didn't go too crazy, but did spend way more than I have. OH! If you do happen to play this game, absolutely turn off notifications. If you don't, it will *endlessly* barrage you with them, on any interaction or event. It gets ridiculous.

Pro Tip: go with most recent reviews not the fucking most relevant or featured, and especially look for any 3 star reviews (and see how recent those were and how many), since those are most likely written by real people who did use the product but found a legitimate flaw that you should be aware of. Should had done this with my current Acer monitor so that I could had paid a little more for something else that doesn't flicker 24'/7 and have to go through the whole ship for repair shebang.

I played monopoly go for like 2 months, I got over 1k rolls multiple times per day so I never understood why people would need to spend money at all. Sure, there are collectibles that you might need to spend money on if you get unlucky, but it was basically impossible to not keep up with everyone else for free
