lifedrawing.academy/ - Online Video Course. Learn how to draw How to Draw Proportionate Portraits from life, memory and imagination.
In this drawing tutorial, you will discover how to draw portraits with the knowledge of human head proportions. Before we begin, I have to say that the proportions you see in this video are not absolute rules. Every person is different, and therefore proportions will vary from model to model. Also, the sequence of steps you see in this lesson is not the only way to draw a portrait. The way the artwork is done here is to explain the main anatomical features, the geometrical plains, and the proportions of a human head.
To learn strong life drawing skills, enroll in the Life Drawing Academy course! lifedrawing.academy/

Anatomical knowledge does not have to be down to the smallest detail. All you need to draw constructively is the knowledge of how the anatomy influences and shapes the structure of things, from the head as shown here, to the foot. You don’t need to stress yourself in any part of it, just understand its place and application.
@crisvis8905

Whether you want to learn this or not is going to depend on your interest , if you plan to be an artist this is a must and cannot be ignored (as many people say). On the other hand, if you just want to draw for fun you are free not to learn anatomy, but that is going to mark the boundary between an amateur drawing and a student/professional, not counting the fact that you'll be limited by the severe lack of knowledge in the field. You may get away without knowing anatomy if you decide to be a landscape painters, but there's no chance you'll do the same in the figurative arts
@xrystal89
@xrystal89 2 жыл бұрын
Lol, fr. However, he's teaching like you don't already know it so it's an info dump. If you are drawing in this style (constructive), you would have already practiced anatomy and skeletal work for almost a full 2 years (AFTER you practice a bunch of other fundamentals for years) before you even get to this point and it wouldn't take as long (like 10 mins for the head). Drawing the human form is one of the latter concentrations in constructive art, close to when a student is about to graduate. Contemporary art is mostly better if you're just doing art as a quick hobby because you're not trying to draw like Michelangelo, lol. And there's plenty of those videos on YT that are pretty useful for contempt art.

Drawing is a non-verbal language of communication, like English, only visual. Here's what you've said: "There is no reason to learn English, you can be creative and say anything you like without any rules of grammar, punctuation, vocabulary". Of course, you can. Would your communication in such "language" be any good?

@@DrawingArtAcademy I think what he means is that you don't have to be accurately perfect in proportions to be a good artist. There are lots of great artists who draw their own way in their own style, whether it's proportionally accurate or not, the art of creation is to have fun and enjoy the process, no matter what the preference. One should not be so strung up about being accurate if one cannot get it right, it is true that most artists are their own worst critics, I am no different, but going with the flow of your own style is what is unique to each individual artist, and if learning anatomical correct proportions is your thing then so be it, but it's not essential for every artist.
