Dude I can say first hand the EVH 5153 50S absolutely kills!

I just got a 50 watt stealth and it's a beast. TBH the blue channel needs a boost in front of it but the red channel....OMG there's more gain on tap than any amp I've ever played. The red channel actually sounds better all on it's own without a boost. It's the only amp I've ever played where unboosted sounds better on the lead channel. If you put an 7 or 10 band EQ in the loop you can get the EVH to sound just like that Granophyre easily.

I personally think people put way too much stock in the amount of tone difference between 50 and 100 watts. Slight bit of headroom/compression and low end, mostly at higher volumes. Not a drastic difference.

yeah I have the el34 50 and Kruse Kontrol is semi-local, was really thinking about doing a Stealth conversion.

REALLY tough for me to choose, and would boil down to the situation, but god damn the high gain setting on the Omega is bliss.

Honestly I'd say no, if money is an issue. The original 6L6 is VERY close to the stealth, and the Blue channel sounds killer. Save the money and just grab an Omega and you'll be set!

At the end of the video I was REALLY digging the OMEGA. Great fucking amp man.

Yeah I own the EL34 as well! Gotta say the stealth is still where it's at for me personally. I did the C137 mod on the EL34 though and it now sounds much better on the blue channel to my ears.

The Omega is a 50 watt amp as well.

@@belligerentamateur another thing about the presence knob on the Stealth... It works a bit differently than the presence on my block letter... As do the eq controls overall. On the block, the presence and other controls affect the particular frequency more directly, where with the Stealth, the controls seem to morph other parts of the frequency race a bit. But yeah.. On that red channel, I see it used almost exclusively as a solo channel. The compression makes solos a bit liquid sounding. I've played more with that in the 100 watt though. Since I've gotten the 50s, I've been mostly on the blue channel.. I only really switch to the red channel when trying different pedals out to see if it sounds better. I'm mostly a rhythm player/songwriter, so the blue is the most useful to me. I'd almost be better off with a second blue channel with or without some very minor tweaks. The clean channel is vastly improved over the 100s, but it's still missing a little bit as far as being great for a pedal platform. Supposedly the REV amps work better for that.

I'll be doing some 5150 shootouts next week, I own all 3 of the 50 watt EVH models. The Red channel across the 3 amps is VERY similar. Very little variance.

Hey Bryan! I had one for a little while. It was very dark, and overall, didn't love the EVH speakers for what I do. I'd love to get another and load it with V30's and try that. Build quality was fantastic, would stand up next to a Mesa in that regard, but again, tonally very dark.

I have had an EVH, Orange, and Mesa Traditional 4x12's and the EVH was definitely my least favorite.

Honestly, yes. It can get a little harsh with how pushed the upper mids are and can be sensitive to dial in. However, you can find the sweet spot with a little work, and it sounds killer.
