HEADER INSTALL INFINITI G37

2 жыл бұрынIn this video we are going to install new headers and Motordyne art pipes on the VQ37 engine (370Z or G37). Ran on a lot of problems, such as fitment and even had to modify the steering column. Hopefully we can increase peak horsepower after all that work!
I recommend everyone to always buy the little more expensive parts when it comes to components like these!
This install is not for the faint of heart, as the bolts holding the header to the engine block are very difficult to access. This is not an install for anyone who hasn't worked on their car before. With the right tools however and with a lot of patience everything goes.

Why tempering the steering column weld? Dont you want it as ductile as possible? And will vibrations be an issue later on with header vs column in such a tight space? Asking for a friend ;)

Nothing to worry about. will mount a ball joint for the steering column so it can move freely without any problems 😘

How did you get the header in through the front of the motor I’m having a problem with that now

Hi there. I don't think I got it trough the front. I had to take off the stearing nuckle and take it from behind/underneath the engine.

I just installed ISR Shorty headers and test pipes on my G37 and they rub my steering column by just a hair. Any advice on what to do to make it clear? I paid 600$ and ISR is reputable brand so wondering what you did to make this fit.

I'm really sorry to hear that.. I had to install a ball joint to the steering columm and made a fix bracket that I bolted to the frame... To much work for headers..

A hammer can be your friend,sounds archaic but it won't take power away just to give a couple of whacks. There is a dyno test using a sbc v8 and they hammered a really big dent to see if it lose power and it didn't lose anything.

@Aaron Gomez didn't really try anything. I got a set of longtube headers and took the shorties off and sold them

It was ebay headers so I have to blame myself a bit. But that store had received such a good rating, so I thought it would be good.

Waste of time. Run em as is (minus patching the hole) and bang the runner in. It doesn't affect performance.

It does effect performance especially on a naturally aspirated engine. Actually a huge gain to be made. Are you new to cars?
