People to people contact is only a beginning. The problem of war is resident mainly in the attitudes of the armaments industry because they profit the most, at billions and now trillions of dollars. With them the bankers and the oil companies. Also construction companies who make so much cleaning up the debris and rebuilding cities. Until the big money guys are kept under control as to their greed for money, we the little people will have to continue being victimized by that greed. Holding hands and thinking sweet thoughts isn't good enough.

I would love to see this video in a Winter Film Festival that celebrates winter! It's relatively short and could be watched outside while enjoying hot beverages or maybe inside a ski lodge.

As nice as the nature is, much of Murmansk was actually stolen by Soviet Union from Finland after they launched a brutal war in Finland. While it's nice to see different parts of the world when she travels to the far corners of Russia, it also reveals brutal history of the Russian state attacking neighboring nations and forcefully annexing their land. Now it's happening again in Ukraine. Many these beautiful places used to belong to their own local inhabitants, but then they were forcefully russified. Unfortunately many of the places also became poor and underdeveloped under Russia. If you compare the infrastructure on the Russian side of the border to for example Finland, you notice a big difference. One government that cares about it's people and happiness, and the other government that is only hungry for more land but doesn't care for it's people. By the way, I'm not a hater, I don't have anything against the average Russian people, many of my friends are Russian and I even speak some Russian because I've always enjoyed the poetic nature of the language and since I was young I wanted to learn it. I just very much distrust the Russian government, as they have proven to be imperial and violent towards others. The country and the people can be quite beautiful and deserve empathy, but the political situation is a mess and it is a disaster for the world.

All these areas that Elina is showing on her vlog belonged to various ethnic groups. The Russians did to them what they are doing to Ukraine right now in order to conquer them. This includes Tatarstan where Eli is from. Many of them, like Dagestan, if they had the option they would declare independence and have their own sovereign state, as per international law. They are kept under Russian rule by means of violence and oppression.

The only thing I can say in their defence is that perhaps if they said what they really thought they'd joined the killed, maimed and destroyed group.
