Aloha everyone!
I purchased the Honda Rebel Headlight Cowl and installed it myself. Took about an hour and it also tested a LOT of my patience😅
But it was WORTH IT!
Good luck to you if you do attempt this. It’s definitely doable! Patience is key!
Link for it on eBay is:
www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-CMX-50...
Shipping came within two weeks which I found was pretty impressive from China😁
The link for the instructions is:
cdn.powersports.honda.com/docu...
It was very good instructions with pictures and everything.
Tools I used:
5MM Allen Key
6MM Allen Key
6MM Allen Wrench
Pliers

Thanks! I’m glad you enjoy them! I recently posted one of doing an oil change on my own if you’re interested! It was my first time changing my oil on my motorcycle, but there are a lot of helpful tips in the comment section of the video from other viewers, such as putting foil over my pipe so the oil wouldn’t get on it. I hope you find it helpful or entertaining! I’m thinking about doing one for cleaning my chain, I just haven’t had the time to do a video yet.

Yes I did the same cowl .... step 4 was a beast. The whole thing took me about two hours with that step taking well over an hour for me. A very hard place to access. But the cowl looks amazing and does provide minimal wind resistance. The Rebel is one sick looking bike.
@LyssaWithAnE
@LyssaWithAnE 3 жыл бұрын
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who struggled with that step in particular! There is just a small amount of room to get tools in there and angles are limited😩 it does look nice, but I honestly feel no difference in wind resistance😅 no regrets though, cause the cowl does look beautiful😂

Thanks for the help! I used your video to install the cowling on my daughter’s Rebel 300. One problem I had was I put the spacer on the bolts that attach the stay to the fork crown then spent 30 minutes tightening them down with the Allen key. It was then I realized the spacer needs to go between the stay and the crown in order for the turn signal bracket bolts to line up. Add an hour for my mistake.

I just installed one on my 2019 rebel this Friday. It was way easier than this. All had to do is remove two top bolts from the speedometer and slide the new hardware underneath it and bolt it back up. Then install the rest with 4 screws with washers. Took about 10 mins without instructions. Awesome video tho. Keep it going, what's next?

@LyssaWithAnE

Mmmm, that is a good question. From what I see, having that plastic cover in step three adds somewhat of a spacer between the headlight and cowl cover to prevent rubbing and friction as well as scratching.

Hi Lyssa I was wondering if you had to buy the headlight cowl stay in order to install the headlight cowl? The cowl I believe it’s so where closer to 80 or 90 dollars and the stay is like 130 so I’m looking at 200 dollars total!… is this how much you paid? Thank you.
@LyssaWithAnE
@LyssaWithAnE 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, that is a good question! You will need to have the headlight cowl stay in order to put the headlight cowl itself on. The link I provided in the description comes with all of it! Just no instructions…(but I also put the link for the instructions in the video description as well). I bought all of my stuff on eBay, not through the Honda website. But I only paid a fraction of the cost. A little over $100 USD for everything, including shipping.

Is that the stock headlight? I have a 2017 Rebel and bought the same fairing and it seems that my headlight sticks out to far to be able to mount the last piece. I'm looking to replace the headlight with an led, but I'm skeptical on buying parts because the last three I bought didn't fit my bike even though the sellers put "2017" on it. Ugh sorry for the rant.
@LyssaWithAnE

Oh noo! I’m sorry you’ve been going through that struggle! My headlight is the stock headlight for the 2020 model, and I know it’s built different from the past models(2017-2019) which would not allow the firmest of the headlight cowl… are you on any Honda Rebel Facebook groups? Hey Elyssa, i got a few question. Does the Headlight cowl direct the wind up a bit so it's better to ride at higher speed? & Does it make the front more stable at high speed or it's just purely aesthetic? Thank you. :)
@LyssaWithAnE
@LyssaWithAnE 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the really good question! So really, the headlight cowl does NOT A THING for the wind that’s hitting you while riding. I really don’t feel a difference in how it guides the wind, whether it goes up, around, or blocks it in any way... I would say it is mainly for aesthetics.

In all honesty, it doesn’t do much for the wind except deflect a little upwards towards my upper chest…you’ll still feel a lot of the wind resistance😅 I’d say it’s mainly for looks… if you’re not already, there is a Facebook group page that you can join for other rebel writers around the world that post pictures and questions in regards to the 300, 500 and1100 of all years! It’s called Honda Rebel 300 500 & 1100 There’s others that have asked that question as well, and many have answered with such testimony😅 I’m sorry if you had hopes for it to deflect a lot of wind, but it doesn’t do much for it😅 I hope this helped!

Hey, thanks for this I've just followed it doing my one for the CMX 1100 similar process and still an absolute nightmare. Where did you place the part of the frame that goes near the two bolts removed from the blinkers? Against the top of the fork head or underneath it? was a bit confused as to why the blinker bolts need removing at all so I'm wondering if I've placed it correctly around there. (ignore this, I was right, Ive miss-placed the top of the Frame 😭 - back to it tonight!!) All other holes in the frame line up so not sure how it can be wrong. But it looks as if it is. If anyone needs the CMX/Rebel 1100 instructions you can get them here, slightly different but better than the 300/500 and no blinker removal which is what I found odd, obviously this is for the CMX300s and 500s cdn.powersports.honda.com/documentum/MW01/08R73-MLA-A00.pdf. Thanks again, you done very well even making sense of the manual. 😂 Cheers 🍻
