I purchased the Meguiars Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit from Walmart for $24.00 and followed the directions to the letter on my heavily oxidized 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix headlights. It too about 20 minutes per headlight but the results were amazing. This product really, really works. Why spend lots more to have a shop do it when it really is a DIY product with amazing results!!

I also bought the kit.........100,000 AZ miles on headlights.......IT WORKED AMAZING!!! What surprised me was all of the goooo from the wet sanding that puddled on the ground........it only took a half hour and the lights look brand new. YA MEGUIARS !!!!!!!!!! THANKS DUDE

FINALLY a product that WORKS! Was skeptic at the start but after buying this kit my lights literally look BRAND NEW! Excellent tutorial...followed it to a tee and took no more than 15 minutes! Three cheers for MAGUIARS!

I think the best tip is: Read the instructions on the box. But, I must say this shows that you don't have to follow the manufacturer's step by step instructions and can still get great results. At a glance, I'll say, don't use circular motion with the sandpaper (use side to side motion with the 1000 grit, up and down with the 3000 grit). Then use a corded drill to get the appropriate rpm. And don't use paper towels at all. The applicator kit has a sponge for the final clear coat (maybe not when this video was made). But again-- this video showed how quick and easy it can be.

That's really good. I used this system on my 2003 Toyota van and it really does give you brighter, decent looking headlights... For about 3 months! The only way I've found to get long life from any headlight cleaning method is to spray the final job with clear plastic spray. When I did that, it's been 18 months since I coated them and they still look fine!

I just used the medium two step kit. Worked really well. The headlights were completely milky looking and now it’s a night and day difference. Took about 40 minutes to do both including putting on the layers of clear coat.

I bought the kit on Amazon for just over $18 this past spring. I just used it today on our old van, after watching your video. Big, BIG difference!! My wife couldn't believe it. I didn't expect it to turn out great, but it did! Thanks for posting the video!

Great job and you demonstrate just how easy it is to do. Your lights were not as bad as most. With heavy yellowing I start out with 400 grit dry, then go to 800 dry, 1000, 3000, 5000 wet (I use drill with 3" pad at low speed) then polish and use Meguiars clear-coat spray which adds durability and longevity. Of coarse you must paper around the light to prevent over-spay onto the paint, this along with the extra sanding steps takes a little more time but well worth the effort.

Meguires really worked well. I was sceptical at first but always knew Meguires products are awesome. Restored my 2002 taurus headlights to about 95%.

I wanted to thank you for taking time to post this. I hadn't done my wife's Cougar Z for 2 years, and the box doesn't have instructions, it just says "see inside box for instructions". I was unsure on the sandpaper grit, but you made it easy to follow. I forgot how easy this was for the fantastic results. Her lens were almost white, and honestly, they look like new now. Including the taping (her Cougar has wrap around headlights which guessing are about 2X the size of the VW you are doing in the video), it only took about 20 minutes from going out to the driveway to putting the box away. I won't worry as much about her being able to see driving at night now. thanks.

2011 Honda Odyssey. Just had Maaco paint the van and needed the headlights done for my wife. The only thing I did different was use the little sponge for the protectant. The liquid got all over my hands and is very sticky as it dries. Get it on with just a few swipes and let it dry. If you make a mistake like me, just reapply quickly and your done. My wife loved the final product. Thanks!!!

Even without doing troublesome things ~ I first wiped with diesel oil, for a headlight If you polish with compound, it will become shiny!

I worked for a company where we restored headlights and this was pretty much how we did it. They taught us to always start with the highest grit but I learned to look at the light diagnost it and start with what ever grit it needed. Nissan lights,Ford light and Honda accord light always gave us problems.they were always so thick

Since the Directions on the box are vague as can be, I did some quick research. Watched this video and helped alot! Quick warning though that final step is where you don't want to get any liquid protector coat on the paint of your car. Took the clear coat right off my bumper where I splashed a bit.

You should’ve got a HR headlight restoration best headlight cleaning kit I’ve ever seen and it’s guaranteed!

I did one headlight using the drill attachment and found that to be a bit cumbersome. I ended up splattering compound everywhere. But in the end, the lens looked just like new. The other headlight I forego the buffer and used just the compound and cloth. So whaddayaknow it works well without the buffer! You don't need a lot of elbow grease either. Let the sandpaper and compounds do the work. Amazing product, I highly recommend it.

Mothers aluminium and rim cleaner , used a cloth buffer that attaches to a drill , no prep required, no taping , takes 1 minute per light . cheap as chips . Lasts for about 10 months

First off I bought one of these kits from Meguiars some years ago and it did not work at all. Then I found a video on You Tube that worked and worked great and easy. If your like just about every man in the world own one of those 4 inch sanders and a red shop rag and some Meguiers liquid rubbing compound, wrap the rag around the sander and liberally apply the rubbing compound and let the sander work all of that junk off it takes about five min and then use a good polish after and they look like new. No kit required.
