Just wanted to say a thank you for putting in the effort to describe the actual parameters and what they do. I just got one of these and was feeling really overwhelmed until I found your channel. Cheers brother

I had a Headrush gigboard. Although, at times, it could be a little fizzy, i did really enjoy what you could do with it. So I'm looking now and having a little teensy little hit of regret. Not that it'd ever replace my amps but it's good to have for recording.
@DaveWebbMusic
@DaveWebbMusic 2 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean about it being fizzy. That’s why I use IRs instead. They seem to get a better tone a lot easier. Nothing can ever replace a real amp, but the convenience of these modellers, especially for a gig is unparalleled! As for the regret, man it’s never a bad thing to have extra stuff. Although I’m a bad influence, I like to have all of the things haha

Thanks! Trying real hard to watch your video and pay attention to what you have to say. It sounds like you’re creating some thing that I’m going to find useful. But it’s really hard with your background music playing. I assume it is your music and you want it out there, but could you turn it down just a little bit? I do plan on watching more of your videos thanks! to all those that read this, I’m allowed my opinion and that’s all it is. The content otherwise is stellar.

Hey man, thanks for the feedback and Super Thanks! I’ve had a lot of people complain about the backing music, needless to say I certainly don’t do that anymore! I unfortunately can’t go back and turn it down without deleting and re-uploading, so it’s one of those “…sorry, my bad..” situations. Lol But thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback. 🤘🏼

Couple things… personally the rig volume in the output section is my last resort. Try to set up your IRs/cabs etc to reach unity gain before the output section. What’s happening is your pushing too much signal in your chain somewhere and cutting it at the end can eliminate some of those beautiful harmonics… if you have to cut a couple dB there so be it… but only after balancing everything in the rig first. Secondly, when EQing, do a FINAL pass (especially with that surgical paraEQ) at band volume, preferably with the band playing. This lets you understand where you live in the context of performance, which can be very different from low volume bedroom EQ. You’d be surprised how crummy my “band” settings sound all by themselves… Great video!

I've found the best boost is to create a second cab, slightly louder than the first. I've found that it's the best option, in my opinion of course, for boosting distortion. Clean boost is not distorted at all.

So you put a 1/4” patch cord from send to return and turn the fax block on and off? Why does that boost it (unless you boost the fx loop or something?

There’s a few options. You could make multiple presets & set them next to one another. Or one preset with scenes, use in Hybrid mode and select the sounds you want. Either way works great, I do a combo of Botts depending on the song.

Hi! Why do you set lowcut at 50Hz on general EQ? In the IR you set 90. Shouldn’t the IR cut everything below 90Hz? Sorry, I just completely lost at this pont. One more question: Why you only cut the lowmid on xlr? Thanks for the answer in advance!
@DaveWebbMusic
@DaveWebbMusic Жыл бұрын
Good questions. So, I do a lot of live looping cover gigs, and I have a patch that is a ‘bass’ and I want the lows to pass through, so I EQ each patch to compensate. And I only do minimal EQ on the master because because sometimes you can over do it. Plus I only use the jack out, rarely the XLR.

Is this mostly doable on the mx5? Im looking at using ine ad a backup option uncase my amp of pedalboard have troubke. If it works well i might leave the heavy gear at home and make my life easier
@DaveWebbMusic
@DaveWebbMusic Жыл бұрын
Yeah man, definitely doable. My only issue with the smaller modelers is I want more buttons. 3 doesn’t quite cut it. However, if you can manage it, that’s such a light weight, small, powerful rig!

Also, rigs work between the MX5 and all other Headrush boards, the DSP appears to be identical across the line, which means the rigs are very portable
@PositronicFilms
@PositronicFilms 2 жыл бұрын
Do you intentionally have your IR set to 1024? That is a lower quality level that helps with DSP, but if you DSP is okay it’s better to use the default that is double. Just curious…

@DaveWebbMusic
@DaveWebbMusic 2 жыл бұрын
My input gates at the lowest input amount per guitar, suppresser is as low as it goes. -60 I think it is..? If I need any extra after any gain in the patch, I put a suppressor and dial it in as much as it needs it.

@@sebastianmedina1234 the input level from the guitar (the green bars) doesn’t change when you turn down, or up the input level. So it looks like the level hasn’t changed, even though the signal being sent into a rig will be lower or higher.
