I showed this movie to my uncle's fiance and had genuinely forgotten about the fact that Tadashi died cuz I hadn't t seen it in awhile and before we watched she asked if it was sad and I was like 'no it's actually super sweet and wholesome' and then 15 minutes in Tadashi died and she turned, looked at me dead in the eye and said 'you lied to me' 😂

i love the theme of grief in this movie, hiro goes through a beautiful, well done arc, and they handled it very well.

And I love how Tadashi's friends genuinely become Hiro's friends and it doesn't feel like they're friends by association.

I think Tadashi ran into the building to save Callahan without thinking, and out of reflex. He had a deep and natural urge to help people. Even building Baymax, when he could've built almost anything, was him being compelled to help people. Good reaction, Budz❤️

For a robot becoming more human, Baymax refusing to let Hiro remove his chip feels like an original thought. Not one that might be in his protocol.

Baymax is just the MOST adorable thing ever. And the whole low battery/"Drunk Baymax" bit cracks me up, no matter how many times I watch this movie, lol!. And yes, I still cry happy tears at the end when he "gets Baymax back".

the mask the evil villain wears is actually apart of japanese culture. Specifically japanese theater arts. its very cool that big hero 6 adds in such small but great details surrounding japanese culture in general. and also mentioning the name of the mask, kabuki

The level of emotional distress I had when Tadashi died still baffles me to this day, I was like 15 when I first watched it and I felt so heartbroken over a character we knew for like 15 minutes

To the question about how the chip got into Baymax‘ hand: After the rubble hits them and we see Baymax‘ armor broken, Baymax looks down and then it cuts to his wrecked thrusters. At first, it seems like he‘s looking down to his feet to see the damage, but he actually looks at his chest, where the chips lay. After that scene, Baymax‘ hand stays closed, not to just use the rocket fist, but to also keep the chip safe.

I remember watching it in the cinema, I was 13 like Hiro, which made me connect with him from the start. I cried at least 5 times, they really did an amazing job portraying grief, I was crushed

No matter how many times I watch this, I still get teary eyes every time 😢 Also, Sam be getting injured doing exciting stuff while I’m out here tripping on nothing while walking on a flat surface with no obstacles ending up with an injured elbow or something every 13 business days. I feel like if I try skating I’ll injure myself within the first 5 minutes 😂

I read that when he was in school with kids his age, Hiro was bullied by his classmates which is one of the reasons why he doesn't have any friends his age. I can't remember were I read this, so don't quote me on it. Sorry if this was a fan theory.

I LOVE Big Hero 6! It's also one of my favorites. It did win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, but I wish it got as much (or more) attention as Frozen did. I like this better than Frozen. :)

6:33 no no. Not bullshit. He's testing the robot to see how well programmed it is. Most doctors take patients at their word if they say they're allergic to something. Baymax already knows because of the full body scan.

I really admire this movie for showing people how to deal with grief and exploring all the different emotions from all the characters. It also holds a special place in my heart because it was the first movie that my little sister ever saw at the cinema and remember how much she loved Baymax that my parents bought her a little plushie of him 😊 glad you guys did a review on it because it really is a great movie can’t what you do next 😊😄😉😉

1:05 They didn't JUST help rebuild it. The architecture used was so the city would be protected from future seismic events. The idea came from Scott Watanabe, Big Hero 6 art director, environments.

Can someone who knows the lore explain to me why robot fights are illegal? Like, are they illegal on the sense that not officially regulated gambling is illegal or what? It's not like dog or animal fight rings where it's just animal abuse for entertainment, they are just robots. Even if they are destroyed they can be reconstructed. Presumably all living creatures are safe so... why it's illegal and deserves jail time again?

4:36 I never noticed that the prototype helmet Gogo's wearing the first time we see her is the basis for her superhero suit helmet later on. I always forget/don't see that the prototype helmet also has that little pointed fin.

Callahan could have worked if it was set up better. Also, the complete lack of feeling for Tadashi just makes no sense especially when they then try to make him sympathetic with the daughter stuff

So when the explosion happened I thought it was gonna be the teacher but I really hoped that for some reason his brother would be the villain and shock and surprise everyone. Because I didn't want him to die and also because the teacher guy was too obvious.
