Yes, simmering/boiling tofu for about 20 minutes in a marinade will give it much more flavor than just letting it just sit in the same marinade. It also changes the texture. It is a game-changer for those of us who want to eat more tofu, but don't really like the flavor of plain tofu. Same goes for soy curls.

Hey Derek, you probably know about a cat's purr being the exact frequency to aid healing and calm them, which is why injured cats often purr. So maybe the trigger point massager vibrates at a similar frequency. Just a guess.

Derek, the best thing I’ve learned from you is mixing a ton of textures and flavors into the dish makes each component more delicious. Also, yes, I loved the new “Day of Eating” format. It’s hard to imagine that you continue to improve your content, but somehow you do. Crystal cameos are part of the magic too, because you guys are such a great support for each other. Looking forward to seeing how you use the beans Dr. Greger sent you!!

Do this for your golfers elbow or tennis elbow: You’ll need a hair band, Crystals hair bands work well or just small rubber bands you find on broccoli. Wrap them around your finger, near the finger tips and open your hand as far as it can go, do reps of 20 x 3-5 times about 2 times per week should be fixing you up. OBS: I am into grip sports/ armwrestling so I deal with these things a lot.

For golfers elbow, I've heard training finger and wrist exstensors helps. Because of all the gripping in working out and life the flexors get used but not extensors. One way is to put hand in bucket of rice and open your hand from a fist to extend fingers against the resistance of rice and repeat 😊 also training the rotator cuff

Wow! That mic makes a huge difference. And I always thought the sound of your videos was great before. I definitely appreciate seeing the "repetitive" food as that's how I like to eat, too. And seeing that it serves you and your health well makes me feel better about my own eating. Which, today for lunch, included a Simnett-approved grilled avocado sandwich with miso paste and mustard. That combo is so ridiculously good. As always, awesome video. Thanks for the good vibes. ✌

Alternative way to fix quinoa. Cook it anyway you like. Store in the refrigerator and then reheat on low to medium flame in a dry non-stick pan, I use a granite one. Use whatever herbs/spices you like. Quinoa will get crispy as you let it cook, turn over frequently and when golden brown serve up with all of your other ingredients. It's super YUMMY!

Back when I worked construction before retirement I used to get tendonitis in my left elbow. A compression band on my left forearm relieve the pain immediately. The downside is you will need to wear for a few weeks to allow the tendon swelling to go down. Good luck.

For tendonitis, what worked for me was: modifying every exercise, icing it 3-4 times a day, tendonitis stretches 3-4 times a day, and tendonitis self-massages three times a day. And rest. Lots of rest. Literally, I didn't do any curls or straight arm shoulder raises, or any aggravating tendon workouts for 6 whole months. It took 6 whole months to get at 95% healed. The last bit, I can't figure out, but I'm able to curl light. It's going to suck being off the gym but you gotta modified my dude. Have a good recovery *salute

Hey Simnett! In regards to the issue you brought up at the beginning, the tendinitis, I have experienced that intensely as well since I am a rock climber. I tried EVERYTHING and it just wasn't working. What finally seemed to help make it go away permanently was gaining some weight. I can't explain why that might be, but after packing on a few pounds, muscle and fat, I have never experienced it again. Also just doing more frequent yet lighter sessions for a few weeks works very well, rather than taking a break! I know you already do beet juice, and that's another great solution, along with watermelon due to the rich availability of lycopene due to the cardiovascular benefits. Praying that you find a solution as I know how awful it can be!

1:15 I started taking Glucosamine a few months ago because of achy hips. I'm not old or anything (29) but I've done a looot of high-impact sports like parkour, skateboarding, and rugby. I can't honestly say it's "healed" anything but the aches have definitely subsided! My knees also feel great even though I wasn't consciously aware of any knee pain before taking it but evidently they weren't 100%! Glucosamine is like a precursor for cartilage and tendons and stuff, and it's cheap. you can buy it in supermarkets, at least in the UK edit: the timelapse was hilarious! double rotations with the rope are crazy difficult haha

Tendons are built through time-under-tension, so lots of isometrics. for elbows, you wanna do light pulling exercises, or heavier holds (like dead hangs). They're also much more dependent on collagen to repair and build, so you want plenty of that in your diet.

Great video. Hilarious jump roping. We've been jumping rope lately as well. Brings the inner child out, like sprinting does (for me anyways!) Don and I are trained in acupuncture & Oriental medicine, and we've both had a history of elbow tendonitis, among other injuries. Just so you know, acupuncture can def. help, but it is most effective done consistently in a short time span. In China, treatments would be daily, or near daily until resolved. So, keep at it. We also use red light therapy. We have a Photizo which is a gizmo for using diffused infrared and red light that you can hold over areas around the elbow. We also have a heat lamp. Sometimes we do Gua Sha, a scraping technique. It may hurt quite a bit, but can really help break up stagnation. We use a Chinese soup spoon. Just apply some oil on the area. Ask your acupuncturist if he/she thinks it would benefit your situation. Also, Don just bought Swissies hand grips to put on the chin-up bar. The angle may help keep your arms in better alignment, w/ less strain on elbows. Shoulder mobility work can help as well. Otherwise, I never thought to freeze ginger before grating. What a great tip! Your food looks great as always. ~Tracy

Love this videos, keep them coming please! The faces you made when taking the pre-workout straight to the dome! haha. I bought beetroot powder for a pre-workout after seeing the amount of nitrates in it, and I'm making the same if not worse faces when having it haha. (I know beetroot crystals taste better, but I can't rationalize having it when I know there's something better a.k.a. the straight powder. For your elbow, I'd recommend lightening the weight and doing super slow eccentric movements with faster or the same speed concentric movements. This will be safer for your joint, putting less force in the joint, while still putting the muscle through a lot of strain. Taking the movement slow will also help with gauging what range of motion of causes pain, you can then progress to making this ROM as high as possible without pain. You should also pause when the muscle/tendons are most stretched in the movement (for the dip, this would be at the bottom of the movement), this will allow the joint to not undergo a large change in force as the joint hinges quickly. Pausing will allow the force to come over a larger time period and cause less stress to it.

Good luck with your elbow - I've had the same issue for years due to a broken arm that didn't heal quite right. Unsuccessful: physio, chiro, acupuncture, massage... We also have PEMF, HBOT and surprisingly, it got better but not all gone. A medical pain specialist recommended wearing an elbow sleeve - I'll have to try again. Most of all though, I think daily fascia scraping would be the most helpful. That's where I am, just waiting for the tool to arrive. Hope this helps and good luck! The Qi gong exercise "zen circles" helps people with your elbow issues, as I understand it!

Heyo Derek! Old fan here, I have also golfer elbow now, I guess too much weighted pullup, combined with too frequent handstand training and the fact I did not switch to chinup/neutral in the last 2 years, brought me to this point. I paused weighted pullup since one month, and focusing on rings, they are fun and I am able to continue vertical pull movements, I hope you recover soon and I understand you on much golfer elbow can be annoying

I always enjoy your vids they are well set out & timed that they are always at a pace that never gets boring & your content is always interesting & varied.ieg.. enjoyed your gardening vids from summer & your on holiday vids as well. Recently i read about the benefits of castor oil,in particular applying a castor oil compress on aches & pains to absorb pain & heal the area, it even mentioned about applying it on the stomach area to help digestion,& also the liver area.& Even the abdomen for female cramps etc .i hope this info might help in some way.
