What I love about you is that you don't shun those who don't eat super clean. You appreciate that it's hard to eat super clean. You show us how to ease into this lifestyle, not jump into a vegan, paleo diet where we live off vegetables. You show us some processed foods that are healthier then pretzels or potato chips.
@MindOverMunch

thank you! Yes, my goal is never to tell people how to eat, it's to encourage people to make their own choices about what they do with their body :) We have to be real and recognize that not everyone in the world is going to switch to eating 100% clean, so how can we help them make better choices on their journey? :) Thanks for your feedback!

You wanted to know- WHAT processed foods are actually healthy? Well, of course the ideal choice is whole foods, but we know that isn’t always realistic for most people 100% of the time. Here are some healthier options- but remember- we MUST read the labels to know for sure! Thumbs up for educational videos!!

I am so irritated about that whole "serving size" thing - what a hassle for the consumer! They don't know how much I eat a sitting, they just don't want us to compare easily ;) Here in Switzerland it's always per 100g - way easier, hope this will become worldwide standard.

Regardless of the fact its "processed" snack options, it's still good to know that there are "more healthy" options for snacking when you just can't stop the cravings lol. Knowledge is certainly the key, and learning about as much as you can is super important. I really do hope you don't end up with too many negative comments Alyssia, your a HUGE tool and a wealth of information, and I can't thank you enough! Those bags of popcorn look massive compared to the ones we have in Ireland, a large 'party' size bag of popcorn here would typically be around 100g to 150g, same with the lays chips, similar products here would be around 150g. More common are multi-packs of small bags of popcorn or chips (crisps) of around 30-35g each.
@MindOverMunch
@MindOverMunch 8 жыл бұрын
+Sira Mea Yes! This is so true, I think other countries have a better handle on portions both because of the 100g label and package sizes... I'm traveling in Europe now and have been noticing SO many things that we SHOULD be doing in America and aren't!

Soy nut... contain soy. A bag of nuts contain nuts. lol. There must be people out there that need to look at a label on the nut bag that says "contains nuts" so they know that a bag of nuts has nuts in it. lol. What a crazy world we live in. lol.

Stuff them with ground meat and rice( I tried with just rice and quinoa as well)plus parsley onion and herbs of course and make a small roll and sote ( I tried whith some oi live oil and lemon juice) or bake with tomatoes for moisture in this heavy heavy ceramic thing with a lid! It's so good! And the best part is it's good hot or cold! I take these rolls with me, no mess no trouble ! Put some Greek yogurt on top and I'm happy:)

Thank you! Thank you! Sometimes I wonder, is it me? I get so tired of fighting the marketing and diet buzz words as a corporate lifestyle coach. Nutrition used to be simple. They have made it so complicated! And moderation & balance, what we know works, is a foreign word. We need more people like you getting out there and debunking all this crap. I am 61 and at 40 I wrote a book called "The Pizza and Ice Cream Diet." I dissed diets, supplements, pills and food marketers and attempted to educate on lifestyle change and moderation & balance. I thought the "dieting craze" had to be dying out. Here it is 20 years later and it's worse than ever. Most people that bought the book actually thought it was an actual Pizza & Ice Cream Diet! I always have bananas out for employees to take with them. You don't know how many people ask "I thought bananas weren't good for you! Sorry for the vent. I'm going to subscribe and check out your other videos. :)

I just recently realized air popped popcorn was a good snack option and I'm in popcorn heaven! Iake mine in a pot the old fashioned way with just a little cooking spray though! and salt! 😊

Alyssia, I really have to thank you for suggesting popcorn as a salty snack. It's so obvious but somehow it never occurred to me. Now I make popcorn in the microwave when that savory craving hits. At first I thought nothing could compare to my beloved potato chips, but popcorn is just as satisfying. Yay!
@MindOverMunch
@MindOverMunch 8 жыл бұрын
+nervengewitter I am so glad to hear it! I am absolutely a potato chip person, so I know the struggle, but I totally agree- popcorn has become a great way to kill my craving! Plus I love that I can flavor it as I'd like- salty or sweet! :)

I use a whirly pop...love it...make all kinds of different types of popcorn that way and you control the oil (type and amount) and I cook only with rice bran oil because of its antioxidants and high smoke point. My two favorites is garlic parm (with whole garlic cloves just crushed put in the oil) and kettle corn (with cane sugar and sea salt). I've also made my own chickpeas in the oven along with dried apple slices.
