As additional trivia, for the kraken logo, the choice of making the logo a large S was to pay homage to the Seattle Metropolitans, the first US team to win the Stanley cup

It baffles me that the Capitals have the eagle logo with the capitol building in negative space and they still choose to use their crappy word logo. That eagle logo is one of the best in the league IMO

Another reason why there’s a star on the Minnesota Wild logo is because Minnesota is known as The North Star State hence why the previous team(now the Dallas Stars) was called the Minnesota North Stars. It also makes sense that when they moved from Minnesota to Dallas, they kept the Stars name as Texas is known as The Lone Star State

Winnipeg needs to be higher. If you're doing a quick look and rank yea okay, but it's actually a nod to the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) logo, which honestly should boost it up by 10 spots. This is coming from a Leafs fan btw so no bias here

While the Canadiens are my favorite team in the League... There is no QUESTION that the Wild have the best logo in the NHL. Fun Fact that I love about the Sharks logo is that the stick when the shark is biting into it makes a J for San Jose which I always liked. Another tidbit that I like is that the I in Islanders is pointing to around the area that the Islanders play at which is also pretty clever

The Bruins logo is not a puck. It is a wheel with the B for Boston in the middle. Boston’s nickname is the “Hub of the Universe “ and this logo represents that.

At first I didn’t think I’d ever agree with the Wild at one. But these last couple years their logo has really grown on me (pause) and I respect that it’s at 1. Very underrated list. This video seems to be the least biased list. Though I don’t know your favorite team. I’m a penguins fan. But there are definitely tons of teams with better logos. But this was probably one of the best logo ranking choices.

Nice list! Even though, I’m a Blackhawks fan, I respect and appreciate your explanation for all of the logos. Also, the Blackhawks got their name when Frederic McLaughlin bought the team in the 1920s. He named it after the WW1 US Army infantry unit he served in, which was called “The Black Hawk Division”.

I'm a Red Wings fan as well, nice top 5! I would actually put the Blackhawks at 1 for just all the different colors it displays is amazing even though the Hawks are an old time rival 😂. But absolutely the Wild would go number 2 for me with the North Star and the other elements added is honestly just beautiful. And then ofcourse the winged wheel at number 3 😂. Awesome video!

I might be a bit bias but I think the Dallas Stars logo is 🔥 the “D” repping Dallas with the star not only going with the team name but also going the Texas nickname “Lone Star State” and the Green matching the Bank of America Plaza or “The green building” in downtown Dallas. It all just fits so well.

Except that they really don't even represent the city, as their logo indicates. They make it clear they are a suburban long island team, with the sillouette on the logo beginning immediately east of NYC

Great job. You missed hidden initials on these logos that are not as loud as the Hartfard Whalers were (Great logo) and more subtle than the Quebec Nordiques old igloo and lower case QN..... Look at San Jose for a Subtle SJ and Minnesota Wild for a hidden MW... You'll see it. Love logos like that.

The C in Canadiens stands for “club” The H does stand for hockey but the total is “The Hockey Club of the Montreal Canadiens” or “Le Club the Hockey des Canadiens de Montréal” You’re welcome

My top five are: 1) San Jose Sharks / 2) Arizona Cayotes / 3) Florida Panthers / 4) Ottawa Senators / 5) Philadelphia Flyers - - - - - - comment about the Ducks' new logo: the D contour is toward the right because English is from left to right, and, the duck foot/toes are toward left, which creates stopness in visual movement; that's why the new logo is not so dynamic;

The Rangers logo isn’t inspired by the NHL logo. George Rickard the Rangers founder and owner designed the logo to look similar to the NY Americans logo on purpose. The logo since has gone through small changes but the core of it has remained unchanged in 98 years.

Arizona isn’t abstract, it represents Kachina which is an homage to all the Native American tribes and culture found in the southwest. From the colors to the shapes and angles this logo embodies the different art styles from tribes in the area and still present today. Coyotes are a fierce beast and with them being bad luck, this is the idea in Native culture and it’s meant to be a warning to the other team. Unfortunately, in the recent past they haven’t been a top contending team and the possibility of them moving to another city is becoming more real and concerning every year.

I'm biased, but the best logo is the Sabres. Visually, it tells you every thing; the charging Buffalo and crossed sabres. Other logos I like; Canadiens, Blackhawks, Maple Leafs, Flyers.

He’s wrong about the the Chicago Black Hawk logo. It was named after a unit in World War Two. The owner named it after his unit in World War Twp. I don’t know where he got his information from but he is wrong

1. Your thoughts on ANA are interesting. When they made the brand change (away from Disney) they won the cup... I actually like the logo I think it's bold(just as good as Dal which I don't like)... their jerseys are not sexy though. 2. I think SJ has the worst logo... I don't like the color scheme and as we see now they are trying to go for more of the lettering rather then logo... I think a fin like logo would do just fine... looks like VAN has a nicer sea like creature then SJ IMO. 3. Min has a cool logo but I aucutally don't like the north star tribute or the Animal outline... it's like to much going on... I think the Avs, Det, or Ari have the nicest logos where they are creative enough but not going over board.

The Blackhawks were NOT named after Chicago, the original owner served in a WW1 Machine Gun Unit known as, "The Black Hawks", the owner brought to the team. Frederic McLaughlin was a commander with the 333rd Machine Gun Battalion of the 86th Infantry Division during World War I. In 1926, McLaughlin was granted a franchise by the National Hockey League, which he named the Chicago Blackhawks after his wartime unit.
