Predsfan 9 Was offensive pass interference. they were a little easier on Clemson on calls. Everybody wants to beat us it influences decisions sometimes...Clemson played better on offense controlling the clock it's hard with a freshman Qb to do that. Explosive play when need sure. At 14-0 I was thinking they will open up the pass but Clemson scored and from there we were one dimension on O and it was much easier for Clemson. Hey we won 4 in 8 years. Clemson won't be a dynasty once Watson is gone whole different ordinary team sorry.

My feelings in the matter. I never watched this game. This was one of those games that I KNEW Bama was going to lose so I wasn't going to watch it. Just like when Bama lost to Urban Meyer & Ohio State in the first playoff. For some reason, idk why, there are times I know when they are going to lose & manage somehow not to watch. I remember as a child watching them lose to Notre Dame. Twice. And I knew then too they were going to lose. Thanks to my Dad I couldn't "not watch it" & I was a kid & didn't understand that esp then. Well I still don't understand it, but for some reason I end up not seeing the games they lose. And the worst is when I get that feeling before an Auburn game. Cuz I don't want to believe it & still end up watching them lose. P/S- The year before, when Bama beat Clemson, I really felt bad for Clemson cuz they played their hearts out. I was glad Bama won but felt like both teams were so good that they both deserved to win. And I don't remember ever feeling like that after a Bama Natty. IDK, but for some reason I felt the game was going to fall in Clemsons favor cuz of the previous year. Kinda like in '09 when Bama beat Florida in the SEC Championship. Deshaun Watson deserved it cuz of his previous 2 years if play.

did anyone notice the pass int was NOT in the end zone and therefore should have left Clemson the ball on the 4 1/2 rather than the 2? I looked up that play and was not surprised to hear neither announcer even mention that key point as they ran the penalty call over twice and in slow motion the interference is at about the 1 1/2. The ball should have been half the distance from the nine-yard line. Given that the pick play resulted in Clemson catching it on the goal line and going down two yards in the end zone, it makes you wonder if Swinney would have made that same call if refs (or the booth) had bothered to make the right call. Inexcusable.

so, was it p.i. in the end zone or at the one? you forgot to mention whether I was RIGHT or not. or do you care? I guess not. As long as you can scream (like a little girl), "my team won," it doesn't matter how f'd up the call is and how much it is deliberately ignored (like you just did when faced with a perfectly cogent and critical question) by people paid to notice it. Oh yeh, gfy... scholar.

funny, but in all seriousness, the white part is irrelevant. Black dominance in the game everywhere but QB and kicker and maybe OL is obvious, but someone might want to risk being called racists and begin asking why. There is now and has been throughout modern era too much white talent in the league (albeit, outnumbered) on D to claim a genetic difficulty (JJ Watt, Matthews). Is it cultural? I dunno. I still recall reading a Bobby Bowden interview in SI in fall 1998 where amazingly he was asked if he had a bias in favor of black players at FSU. Even more amazingly, he answered point blank, yes. He claimed it was so due to speed and that they do what they are told without questions and are hungrier. Since white kids might as well not even try to get into "speed" positions these days (long before pros), I'm not sure about how speed can be rated. The only skill positions open to whites are TE, QB. FB is an obsolete position these days due to ease of passing rules. I dunno. Seems odd to me that whites in US are 6.5x more numerous than blacks and make up 20-25% of the league.

Hurts did horrible, continuous under and over throws that would've made a difference. He's a freshman but again Alabama didn't not see a team as hungry as Clemson this year and it showed on Hurts. Ridley had some crucial drops. Secondary was non-existent. The horrible pass coverage was a primary reason for this loss. Play calling was fucking stupid, almost the same formula each time, short run on first down, 2 incomplete passes on the remaining downs and then punt. Should've let Bo do more. I think Harris should have did more. Clearly the pass was not working. Considering how many times we turned the ball over, and how Clemson converted almost every 2 plays, it should've been a larger deficit. Clemson dominated at the line on both sides. Backers couldn't prevent those short passes that were key to Clemson's drives. And secondly, one of the greatest contributors to this loss was the fact that THEY WERE NOT TACKLING. WRAP UP FOR FUCK'S SAKE. Yeah they were landing some hits but it doesn't do shit if the ball carrier bounces off and is still on their feet. I just don't get it. These guys were too concerned with trying to land a hard hit or strip the ball, allowing hella yardage after contact. Look at the difference between Clemson's and Alabama's tackling. Count the yards after contact for both teams. Clemson was tackling, Alabama defenders were simply slinging their bodies. I remember one play, one player began to celebrate after his hit while the carrier was still up and running behind him. If that doesn't change then I don't know. I could point out more but I won't. It's really a miracle how Clemson didn't take the lead until the last quarter. But I will say this. No one here should complain about penalties. I saw clear penalties on AU that weren't called. I'd rather my team win fair and square with no excuses so I wish they had called then. I'm not the guy that will try to play out a drop just cause it was on our side of the ball. If we didn't catch it, we didn't catch it. If you rely on officiating to be in your favor, than you aren't confident in your skills to play the game the right way and come out on top. And contrary to what Saban and most coaches say, they do believe one play can make the difference. One penalty, good or bad, can change the outcome of the game. But whining about officiating is the dumbest thing ever because there's no way that it favors one side entirely.

Sean Cory I think both man and zone have their perks, but you have to have the right athletes to execute. 8 times out of 10, Clemson was able to make a play on the ball. The other 2 times Alabama got a damn PI. I just don't know. Kirby leaves, kiffin is out, your Heisman RB goes to the NFL. I think it was only a matter of time before the change in dynamics would come to fruition. I was so angry when I heard lane wasn't coaching. Like wtf. Who does that. I even stated if Clemson could win, this would be the game, with Alabama having a big change in coaching, true freshmen QB, AND with the experience and zeal they gained from last year. But it didn't have to be this way.

Nolan Mattingly yeah im still wondering what saban was thinking when he relieved kiffin of his duties before a title game,and hurts in my opinion needs more help on the outside ie another julio Jones type wr ridley has his moments but is not dominate,and Nick needs to get better corners every season they're the weakest link on defense fo bama!

secondary looked amazing until... the D was left out on the field too long and they could tell that Hurts was clueless and he would provide them no help going down the stretch. Normal fatigue can turn into debilitating fatigue due to emotional stress. The D KNEW they had a freak situation on their hands: one team with a freak QB who, along with the entire NFL receiver corps he had, were determined to play to the very end to the very best of their ability... vs.... Hurts and offensive play calling Keystone Cops routine. The outcome was unfair to Bama D and the fans. Thanks, Lane. We should've known.

He should be pissed they missed two clear as day offensive pass interferences on Clemsons last two tds. I am a Washington huskies fan I don't like Bama at all but respect their talent. However not a single objective observer can say the goaline playa Clemson ran weren't PICK PLAYS. The outside wr basically just blocked and held the cb so he couldn't cover. Again I'm not upset Bama lost but that's garbage officiating at key moments you can't allow blatant penalties like that more than once especially when it results in a score. I'm ashamed of the officiating

Saban and Alabama have now lost 3 bowl games in the past 4 years. Oklahoma smoked them in the 2013 Sugar Bowl which was a 2nd straight loss because Auburn beat them in the Kick 6 game the game before. They lost their bowl game the next year to Ohio State. Won the title in 2015 and lost again this year to Clemson.

In the past 4 years that GREAT Bammer defense gave up 34 to Auburn in the kick 6 game. The next game were beat AGAIN by Oklahoma giving up 34 again. The next bowl game they lost AGAIN giving up 42 to Ohio St. The next year they beat Clemson but gave up 40. And this year lose AGAIN in a bowl giving up 35 to Clemson.

And thats not even talking about the points Johnny Manziel put on them when he beat them, Ole Miss beat them 2 yrs in a row putting up a ton of points. Even when Bammer wins they give up 44 points and 660 yards to Auburn in 2014 and gave up 40 points and nearly 600 yards last year beating Clemson.

The bottom line is Alabama shuts out Arkansas, Miss St., Florida, etc. because those teams dont have great offenses. But Saban's bugaboo has ALWAYS been a dual threat QB that can run but also take the top off his secondary. Just look back at who beats him (Tebow, Stephen Garcia, Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel, Nick Marshall, Chad Kelly, Trevor Knight, Cardell Jones and Deshaun Watson) Everyone in the media and all the Bammer's said "we have the best defense in history this year.) We stop the run and pass. Dual threat QB's cant beat us now. Well, one did last night!!! And when it came down to the last play and YOUR BEST DEFENSE IN HISTORY had to make 1 fucking stop to win a national title, they COULDN'T!!!! So what did that BEST DEFENSE EVER get ya'll in the end? NOT A DAMN THING!!! It got ya'll Bammer's on here crying to KZfaq is all it got ya'll. 😂😂😂 Roll Tears Roll

Bill Gibbons Yeah but him losing in a major bowl is better than all the other teams who don't make it to a major bowl or playoff and lose. Just cause Saban loses on the big stage doesn't make him any less of a coach. All the Alabama haters love to come out when we lose a major bowl game by a single possession but don't say anything when we winning 26 straight games and winning 4 championships in 7 years. Alabama is still a great team and even though we lost to the better Clemson team this takes nothing away from Coach Saban or these players

It wasn't the play calling, losing Bo hurt big time and Jalens lack of ability to throw it accurately cost us drives. I would of rather had Sark than Kiffin in this one. Also, tough to stop any offense when they run 99 plays, don't care how good your defense is.
@inmyopinionsports1391
@inmyopinionsports1391 7 жыл бұрын
Matt Hart Lane took a running back Sims, Wildman Coker, and a true Freshman Hurts, all the way to the playoffs so it was definitely play calling. Everything was too safe. Lane would have been more aggressive and calling plays that made people scratch their head. He was a way of calmimg and settling Jalen down. He wouldn't have over utilized Bo too early since he is prone to injuries. We needed to allow our defense to rest and we didn't. Sure he missed some throws but there seemed to be a lot of miscommunication going on. That happens when you change coordinators before the biggest game of the season. 14-0 with Lane, 0-1 with, Sarkisian with only a week to prepare. I hate to say it but Nick made a mistake and put his team at a disadvantage. We have great players and a great defense, but we needed unpredictability to have the edge. Last night we didn't have that. We let them wear us down by playing it safe. Last year we took more risks so Henry could close out the game. Even so, I'm proud of Alabama and hope they come back strong with a full off season to prepare. I'm going to miss our upperclassmen. Roll Tide!!!

You coaching staff will be picked over by schools looking for coaches like road kill is to a buzzard. That is what Alabama has been dealing with since 2009 plus lose your O/C days before a championship and see if you all come within a second of winning your 5th national title in 9 years. I'm impressed by my fellow Alabama fans for not hating on Clemson. Hats off to Clemson, their receivers made some AMAZING catches on the home stretch. The "pick" that got the guy open at the end of the game was a little bit questionable, but we didn't lose the game on just one play. Having Bo Scarborough hurt really hurt the offense. We couldn't use the run to set up the pass or wear their defensive line down. Our defense were gassed, poor guys couldn't get off the field. Overall, for entertainment purposes this was an amazing game, David beat Goliath. Great story for college football even though I am on the losing side of it, I can respect it for the great story that it is.

this was a tremendous game by both teams. the biggest difference here was the fact that Alabama couldn't keep their offense on the field long enough to give their defense a break. when you go something like 2/15 on third down conversions, that alone will tire any defense out. now match that with a championship team like Clemson, it speaks miles about the Bama defense to hang in and help bring this game down to the wire like they did. this was a hard fought game for both, clearly. at the end of the day someone had to lose, and the better team inched itself ahead. both teams should be proud of how far they've come. gg clemson, hopefully there can be ANOTHER rematch next season. No excuses because we had our opportunities to close the game. We had a young qb he did his best but he wasn't ready. I'm sure that arm and his accuracy will be better next year. Our defense stayed on the field and that ultimately was our demise. Mike s an NFL WR and he showed that last night so let's not crucify our secondary because those guys are great.
