Uhuh! Cry for him! And for her man!that's exactly what happened! Her man couldn't give a kid and she didn't want to leave him. So she picked up this guy and had a one night syand with him so she could get pregnant and play it off like it wss her man's. Soooooo....the one who loves her now thinks it's his kid and the real fsther can't have anything to do with his own kid. Yup. Inba nutshell.
@bliffblam

@@lovefortruth3414 your speculating. I'm sure her husband was aware he couldn't have kids. Ppl do this all the time in a doctor's office at 20k each try, no guarantees. She took the natural route no ties and the cost of a motel room. And if u pay attention it wasnt her first time. "So we found this motel, it was a place i knew well" Anyways, she sings the shit out of this song. Which is ironic because she (ann) doesn't l I'll ke it and stopped performing it
@lovefortruth3414
@lovefortruth3414 3 жыл бұрын
@@bliffblam i'm not speculating anymore than you are. It also happens alot that men raise a child for years thinking it's their child before they find out that their wife did exactly what the character in this song did. It's disgusting to deceive anyone involved in helping you produce a child. Not to mention, she deprived the actual father of his biological son through deceipt with a note afterwards telling him not to find her. Do you think she gave the biological father a chance to consent or to object to being excluded from this child's life that he helped create? On the other hand, too, he was an adult and should know better to make sure they used protection or to just not get involved in a one night stand in the first place because of the potential reprocussions. They both are responsible for that part. But she was a sleaze for keeping him from having any say in his exclusion or inclusion in his now child's life. And if she kept this from her husband, then she deceived 2 men. Either way, she deceived at least one of them. That's not the same as artificial incemination in a dr's office. Men actually willingly and knowingly donate sperm for this for money. So the actual biological father is aware that he will never know his biological child that may result from it. Going out and having a one night stand with a stranger and then leaving him a note warning him not to try to find her is leaving him no choice in his involvement with the child. It's fucked up and spits in the face of mutual consent.

Right, this was a hotel that she had visited multiple times (not necessarily always for one night stands). It seems like he stuck around the hotel and got a job there and that's where she stumbled upon him again. And, yes, she said, "we walked in the garden, we planted a seed" - - if you don't know what that means, well . . . So she was looking for someone to get her pregnant because it seemed her man was impotent - or didn't want kids, something.

Years later Ann Wilson said that she regrets this song because of what it's about, that it disrespects men, she did not want do perform it for a quite some time, and finally she somewhat changed the lyrics and sang it in changed version. However, it was the first Heart song that I have heard, it was a big, BIG hit and I like it in original version more.

This one was written FOR Heart when they went through a song-writing dry spell (substance abuse issues). Yes, you interpreted it right! She uses the man to get a baby she can't have with her own man (and lies/misleads both of them.) Ann refuses to sing this song anymore because she doesn't believe in this kind of thing. You got it exactly right. Now years later, Ann Wilson did an interview where she said she wasn't really comfortable with that meaning for the song. The story I heard: their producer wrote this song and pretty much had to force them to record it, because Ann and Nancy HATED IT. To my knowledge, they've NEVER performed it live, even though it was one of their biggest hits. True. I saw them in concert and wondered why they didn't do this song then I did some digging and found out the true story behind it. Ann said she hated the whole album actually, because it was not the music they wanted to do, but something they were forced to put out just to be a hit. But it cut like a knife to my heart to hear they hated it because I grew up with the Brigade album and Ann and Nancy's vocals made me imagine growing up to be a strong tough woman. They were inspiring to me and the album holds fond memories of my childhood.

They performed it live their entire tours from 1990 - 1993 and retired it after that. Ann has sang it a few times since, but with changed lyrics. She left never intending to see this man again and then, perhaps just due to the weather, she stops at the same hotel not expecting to find him there and is forced to face her actions. This song was released in 1990. The original song was recorded back in 1979 by Dobie Gray with different lyrics. The article says that this is the story of a woman who sets to seduce a hitchhiker to become pregnant because the man in her life was infertile. I remember hearing about this sort of thing happening a lot back in that time frame. I think it was most likely because most people didn’t have the money for fertility treatments. This was a great reaction, India! All of your reactions are. I know that I don’t leave many comments though this one was a bit shocking to me when I first heard it in 1990.

She was deeply in love with someone else but he couldn't give her the one thing she wanted but he could, a baby. Try Alone by them it's great it shows Ann's powerful voice.

Gotta love the bass in this song. Too many great songs get the lyrics and the guitar solos talked about. Bass and drums are almost always overlooked.

What I get from this video from the first time I saw it was that she was in a relationship and her partner wans´t able to get her pregnant... So she tries to get pregnant from strangers that she pick up (it seens to be more than once ´cause she sing "so we found this hotel... IT WAS A PLACE THAT I KNEW WELL")... And finally she gets pregnant... And years later, by accident she met him again face to face...

Ann Wilson has said she really doesn't like this song and rarely sings it. I still like listening to it because Ann has such a great voice.

This song hit me the first time I heard it! I LOVED it. She wanted a child conceived in LOVE. Her husband was probably impotent . She acted out of love all round. Unfortunately they met again.
