They came to Cincinnati once, and their plane had a problem and needed some hydraulic fluid. I happened to be at an aviation supply company and I had bought the last 5 gallons of Skydrol hydraulic fluid in stock. A guy came in right as I was leaving and said that he needed some for Heart's plane, and they told him that I had just bought the last of it. I told him that I would sell it to him for cost, if he would give me two backstage passes for the show that night. He gladly agreed, and I got to go backstage before the show. Ann and Nancy Wilson were extremely gracious (and so was the rest of the band), and my friend and I got to see a great concert from the side of the stage, and got to have a drink with the band. It was a good time.

I'm fairly sure they mentioned Aladdin...I'm not even sure they realize what they were saying but the singer on Aladdin is Lea Salonga who is perhaps one of the most accomplished singers in the world. She was the first Asian woman to win a Tony. She's not only sung as Jasmine (where the song got a golden globe and an Oscar) and Mulan, she's sung the leading roles in international productions such as Miss Saigon, Les Mis, and numerous others. Ann Wilson has a great voice but I highly doubt she'd be offended by being compared to one of the most accomplished singers in the last 40 years. Ann has a lot of voice control and talent and that's coming through with piercing clarity. They didn't mean it as an insult and it clearly wasn't.

After their 1985 comeback, their music had evolved into mainly power ballads: What About Love, Never, These Dreams (sung by Ann Wilson), Who WIll You Run To, Alone, and Stranded. These are all worth a listen.

Not so much a cover as a tribute, check out these teenagers going at it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q5iYo8lpqMrafas.html. Bass player and guitarist are in Romania, drummer in Germany and singer in Australia. They've never met in person. All done over the internet and mixed by the musician father of the drummer.

Not specifically Rock, but Joni Mitchell is one of the most important women in music. Her first 9 albums are fantastic and range through Folk-Pop-Jazz so there's always something new to find! Also, such a great lyricist!

I saw them in concert in 2019. Ann blew the roof on the stadium. I have never heard a stronger singer, and just as good as when she was young. It was surprising, shocking, and fantastic! Turned out to be one of the best concerts I’ve been to.

🦋 Omg! The riff is BONANZA. Anyway. ☺️ 🦋 Barracuda is an all-time fave of mine. I've said for decades that I feel BARRACUDA is one of the handful of rock songs that can't be improved on in any way. IT IS A RARE 'PERFECT' SONG!!! 🎙🎸🥁🎹 That's how I see it. I saw HEART rock a stage 5 times and in the 2010s, the Ladies and Company have lost nothing. ❤ HEART ❤ 🦋 Hey guys, this is my favorite reaction of yours to date. As the song goes on, your excitement, my excitement and everybody watching, it just explodes. As it should. That's how GREAT THIS SONG IS! Take a bow 🎙Ann Wilson and 🎸🎙Nancy Wilson, 🎸Roger Fisher, 🥁 Michael DeRosier, and ......... 🎶 Good stuff, THANKS!!!!!!!!! 🐕👩🦳🗻

When you hear these older rock songs, keep in mind that there was no Pro Tools, quantizing, or digital vocal harmonizing. These songs were live performances in studio, not little "perfect" bars picked out on the computer and copied and pasted.

A banger from them is “Kick It Out.” Not one of the songs usually recommended but well worth a listen. Would be great for a Women in Rock marathon. Other women to include: Bonnie Raitt (master of the blues slide guitar), Joni Mitchell (singer songwriter queen), Patti Smith ( “Because the Night”), Christie Hynde of The Pretenders, Melissa Etheridge.

Been a fan of female lead vocal bands for years. Heart is one that is never not on my permanent playlist. Barracuda and Crazy On You are two of the most ridiculously badass songs to come out of the 70's. Those dirty rifts, the grungy sounds, it's all so fantastic. So glad you guys covered this...

Ann’s voice is great and it does have a very distinctive way of standing out and sometimes seeming to float above the music. A women of rock marathon would be completely awesome and Heart would be a great start.

Guitarist was Howard Leese who was dating the singer at the time (in the background of the album cover). He was hittin' it hard and they lived in a cabin in Vancouver. He is also the "Magic Man" she sings about, and is the main character in Love Alive (alternate version). You can hear some By-Tor and the Snowdog by Rush towards the end breakdown that came out 3 years earlier from Fly By Night.
