Salt and water retention increased preload and will lead to fluid retention in the presence of heart failure. Peripheral vasoconstriction will increase afterload, thereby increasing BP and therefore left ventricular workload. What is the common cause of both of these pathophysiological processes?

i LIVE the way DR John Campbell explains the pathophysiology of cardiac failure # Renin , Angiotensin , Aldosterone axis is activated once heart myocardium fails to ejaculate sufficient volume in left ventricle at each contraction #

The relationship of HF and RAAS is well explained but I am confused where the Atrial Natriuretic Peptides comes into play in this cycle?

statins damage skeletal muscle. Statin therapy induces ultrastructural damage in skeletal muscle in patients without myalgia, 2006 (and many more papers) So…heart failure patients are put on statins. And heart failure is progressive. 5:57 I don’t believe I’ve seen any evidence that muscle working harder will cause death of the muscle fiber. No need to blame a renin viscous cycle, though consensus. We’re not talking about muscle tears here, I don’t think that’s possible from heart activity. There are many known causes of muscle damage, otoh, none of which seem to get considered in heart failure: Excessive alcohol can lead to muscle damage. Long term corticosteroids. And other medical drugs like calcium blockers for blood pressure. To make things worse, it seems likely that if you have muscle pains in the trunk region, if something is damaging the skeletal muscles is probably also having an effect on the heart muscle. Unlike the highly enervated skeletal muscles, the heart muscle doesn’t have pain fibers. Lucklily it seems against old dogma the heart cells do renew, just very slowly, and of course with a barrage of crap nobody sees any improvements with time.
