I think next weeks project should be shot entirely in the re-enactment style you used for the drawer cutting scene. Loved the special effects.

Hey Steve, I have built quite a few of your projects. I'm a big fan. I love this box design and I just built one today. I'm not a fan of chisels, so after I drilled the holes for the tray, I cut the tray part out, which allowed me to use my scroll saw and spindle sander to clean up the opening before I glued on the bottom, then cut the rest of the heart shape off

You could add a little magnet+metal duo to the back of the drawer, that could be a good use of the additional space you got between the drawer and the frame.

So I just watched one of your first videos on different projects to make from a log. I couldn't comment there so I'll comment here. I know it's been a while and I've seen others do it, but coasters are a really good project to make out of logs. Just cut the slices, lightly sand and seal them.

Cute box for Valentine's day. I have only broken one blade on my bandsaw. My problem seems to be the tires. Had 3 break on the top, but none on the bottom so far. (Knock on wood). Carl

Nice bandsaw box Steve. There's a trick I learned here online that says if you "cook" the purpleheart (introduce heat, maybe steam) before finishing it massively enhances the colour. Maybe the friction from the b/s blade was enough.......but....

Micro jig works great for cutting very small pieces of wood through your table saw. It allows the cut piece to clear the blade with little chance for kick back as the jig grips both the stock and the cut piece and keeps them together as they pass through the blade. A great product and fully adjustable to your project size.

Nice little box and a great gift for Valentine Steve. Congratulation for the new sponsor to your show, you are the one worth to be supported in every way. Remember the first video I saw from you, it has been the "routed wooden chain". Back in the old days the people complained a lot about your safety, now, in honor of your sponsor you have to think about getting safety a "-2", although I still agree with the slogan "safety third". I feel sorry for your broken band saw blade, but as I watched you cutting the outer shape of the box I thought you should invest into a plasma torch instead of a new blade this won't make less smoke, but tighter radiuses and you'll be the first to make a "plasma torch box" instead of an ordinary "band saw box". I am looking forward to every Friday (not myself, as I see my face every morning in the mirror) as your humor leads into a great weekend. Greetings from Good Old Germany Peter Freitag

Would you mind doing the same project without the forcner bit and belt/spindle sander? Just the bandsaw, glue, clamps and hand sanding? For complete noobs. I only had those basics and is was a lil tough figuring the process out. Fun for me but for others it might be easier to get into it with a little extra help.

I hate it when you realize you didn't record when you were suppose to. That happen to me on my last video (miter saw station pt.1). Lol on your demonstration. I love this project. Never worked with purple heart yet. I can imagine the sanding work on it. Turned out great. And sucks about your band saw blade. I've only experienced snapping a blade on the scroll saw. See you next week!

Steve, I really enjoy your videos and I've tried a few... but I have to say I'm a bit disappointed that this "Valentine's Day" idea didn't come out until a week before the holiday-- And then you mention several times how time-intensive it is. I will keep this one in my back pocket for next year, tho. Keep the great videos coming!
@Mushnp
@Mushnp 10 жыл бұрын
It could be done in a free day ... time is relative in this situation. Time intensive in terms of sanding isn't the same thing as time intensive in the sense of erosion. Basically the sanding would take an hour instead of 20 minutes or something, not like a week.

Nicely done Steve always fun and entertaining on the work. my heart almost stopped when I might have mistakenly saw your fingers underneath the curved part of the work piece. Please everyone be sure to always use/hold/push the outside edges of the work piece especially if the work piece curves inward. The very first touch of that band sawblade could've caught on the top edge slamming down And taken your finger(s) off. From a concerned and much appreciative subscriber.
