It's so sad because even though Joey hated Derek, he still calls him dad at the end, and you could see that he really wanted to help him :(

Jamie Foreman’s performance in this scene is absolutely amazing. One of the best acting performances I’ve seen on a soap. Shame he was killed off, they could have done a lot more with Jamie Foreman’s talent.

Explosive scene, extremely well acted. Jake wood, playing Max, is a great cirier - one of the best in the show. I was not watching the show at this time, so I love to take sneak peeks at things I have missed. I just started watching again after missing about 15 years. I cheered when he died. Absolutely diabolical caricature of a character. 2012 was the show's worst year ever IMO

I liked Dereks character, but I felt like they never really went far enough with him. His feud with Phil showed potential, but was ultimately disappointing. Would have liked to see him stick around for a few more years.

No matter what Derek did, standing there and watching your own brother die is messed up.

This was actually an accident on set. Derek was supposed to fall down the stairs but he got to scared to but the camera man was low on battery so he kept filming and then Derek had a real heart attack because he hated Joey so much he couldn't stand to live in the same universe as him and so he died in real life but the directors just couldn't be bothered to go over and help him because he's so ugly they wanted him dead and instead of using more battery on the camera they decided to just go with this.

I remember watching this on Christmas Day and the whole family cheered 🤣🤣🤣

Derek was just an idiot. My mum found him extremely embarrassing! But when he died, the type of the the thing he suffered was a Cardiac Arrest; which means "When your heart stops beating.", it's a type of heart attack. My girlfriend Kayleigh suffered from that when she was a baby but they saved her life. And my mum worked in a hospital where she had to save people's lives after they have had heart attacks. Some heart attacks do kill, depending on the situation.

In about 2008 when the Brannings were a central family I heard theyhad another brother called Derek and always thought he'd be an interesting character to bring back but when they did bring him back he was wasted.

Christmas Day in 2012, few months after my Grandmother passed away. Derek Branning was shouting at his brothers about the night of her coffin (Funeral) and their Girlfriend (Relationship). Then, he has Kat and his brothers grabed him and throw him outside. And, he suffered a massive heart attack, he pounced dead.

They could of had him leave then return when max was doing the bad stuff last year
