In this video I am unboxing the Hearthside Craftworks lapstand I ordered in mid-April. BEAUTIFUL craftmanship and I am excited to start stitching on it tonight!
Hearthside Craftworks consists of Helen and John, located in Calgary, Alberta. John handmakes all pieces - lapstands, floor frames, and accessories.

I got the lapstand and loved it so much I got their Mark 2 floorstand. I love how they, both times, were able to work with me to get the actual size of items I wanted and swap out accessories. They're my go to for stands, definitely.

I was so intrigued by this because I am starting my first larger sized Crosstitch project. I clicked on the link to the company and sadly it says they are retiring and all their inventory is gone, oh no! Any suggestions for another brand of scroll frame, lol? This looks like a beauty though…

Hi Carolyn. This lap stand is great!😁 I really want to know how are you going to use it. On the table? On your sofa?🤷‍♀️ I'm wondering the best position and local for it. Maybe further you can show it to us.😉 I'm trying to figure out which one would be better. Lap stand or floor stand. Tks for the video. Happy Stitching.

Hi Mirili! Yes, I plan to use it on the sofa and, since I stitch in bed mostly, I plan to use it in bed as well. So, for me, a floor stand wouldn't work too well. I think it all just depends on where you stitch mostly. This lapstand might be difficult to use if you stitch in a chair, as the width of the scroll rods can only go as wide as your chair (but a sofa should be fine).
