The ‘end of turn’ interaction with trick totem also applies to evocation where you get the mage cards until the end of the next turn.

My experience so far with Trick Totem: Play the absolutely most useful spell possible at the end of your turn. I'm sure once I put it in my own deck, the interaction will change to: sabotage yourself at the end of your turn.

When a turn is ended, it adds the end of turn actions to the stack. The trick totem casted PW:F, but since the end of turn effects have already gone through the stack, the trigger is delayed until the next end of turn stack, which would be the end of your turn. Kinda OP but makes sense

I think the PW: Feast makes sense. It’s one of those that triggers when “end of turn” conditions is met. Since Trick Totem also activates in “end of turn” in order for the random spell to be cast, the end of turn phase has come and gone. The Feast spell was casted during it, but the phase has resolved (similar to like spell burst for your Maul going off after the Brawl resolves). Therefore, the next “end of turn” effect was your turns end. I do agree it’s not really super intuitive but it does make sense, once you see it. I also can’t call if it’s intended or not. EDIT: I think too that cards specific wording of “end of this turn” allows it to function that way. A lot of those say “at the end of YOUR turn” but since this doesn’t, it seems consistent with the card’s text and the way I would understand turn phases

I assume that Power Word: Feast's effect works something like this: At the end of the turn, restore this minion to full life and remove this ability. Since the spell was applied during the end-of-turn phase, and Hearthstone's end-of-turn phase never restarts like it does in Magic, Feast never triggered the first time. Therefore it never removed the healing ability, so it triggered at the end of the next turn and then removed itself.

That trick totem confusion is basically why cards in MTG say "At the beginning of the next End Step" on them now.

My guess on the trick totem+ power word feast interaction is that the power word feast triggers when the next ‘end of turn’ phase occurs. However the trick totem cast it after that had happened for the opponents turn, so the next ‘end of turn’ phase was on kiblers turn, hence the heal. (That’s just how I think it works anyway, this is in no way supported by any tested evidence)

About the totem issue, if you think about it in Magic terms, it makes sense. In the beginning of your end step it cast a spell that has another trigger in the beginning of the **next** end step

Confusing, but it does surprisingly make sense with power word feast. Most end of turn effects specify at the end of your turn, wheras feast is just whatever the next end of turn is, even your opponent's.

Totem has an end of turn effect. He ended his turn and the effect technically is applied your turn as it’s passed to you. The healing effect is applied when you completed your turn as it was the same turn it was applied. My best guess.

I had a similar experience with Trick Totem yesterday, the first spell his totem cast was Gift of Luminance giving his current and 1/1 totems divine shield into a turn four Splitting Axe and that was that, the totems did everything from buff his guys, freeze my guys, freeze my face. It definitely seems that statistically 3 cost or less spells are more beneficial than detrimental

That thing with trick totem happened to me too, where it casted evocation and my opponent kept all the cards.

The power word feast really isn’t that confusing, it’s a bit unexpected maybe but when you think about it it makes sense. Since power word feast was cast at the end of the turn it could activate its end of turn effect, but since the buff stiff has an end of turn effect it activated at the next end of turn.

Hey! I got a golden Rattlegore too. Even if he was terrible I'd probably use him just because gold... I normally deconstruct all my gold cards if I have normal versions just to save on dust.

the feast interaction makes sense because it can't resolve end of turn effects during end of turn, so it does it at the next possible time. it seems weird because we're used to it saying "at the end of YOUR turn" instead of "this turn" so usually nothing happens at the end of your opponent's turn

Maybe it works like MTG, like, "at the beginning of the next end step". And they just worded it differently to try and simplify, but here it actually made a difference

Would it have been a better play at 16 mins in to scythe, then coin to trade in clear the 5/4 with sword and board instead of leaving a 5/1 up? The only reason to keep coin is to pray you pull brawl but is that worth it?

Yeah. The weirdness about HS's card triggers is that the associated card/effect has to be in play *before* the phase starts, and adding additional things that trigger during that phase won't cause them to trigger. The three big examples I can think of are wild pyromancer being summoned from the hand by ancestral recall, if you created a Doomsayer through Renos wild magic, or you recruit Ragnaros with Y'sharajj. In each case, the cards in question was not on the board prior to the phase they activate in, so they don't activate. I'm sure you *get* it, based on the later portion of the vid, but hearthstones internal logic has always been kind of wacky like that, and you just sort of have to *know* how the systems interact, even if the text is super unclear.

I guess its like vialing in flicker wisp in the opponents end step so they lose the permanent till the end of the next end step, as in yours. so everything in hearthstone that says end of turn means beginning of the next end step.

It's like MTG End of Turn. It triggers on EoT, and gains an EoT effect, but the wording on the card is worse in Hearthstone because it says end of THIS turn, which makes a lot less sense.

That "this turn" interaction actually makes perfect sense when you think about it... The opponent already ended his turn, so its already your turn when his end of turn effects trigger. Causing the "this turn" effect to be applied to your turn. Safe to say its still pretty unclear and probably shouldnt work like this... But since it actually says "end of this turn" instead of "your turn" it probably works as intended.

This deck could be really good, but druid exists... ... so every deck that isnt super hard control has to be super hard crazy aggro to kill druid before turn 7 (sometimes turn 5) (sometimes turn 3/4) so yeah once druid is nerfed into the ground this deck will be on top.

Why play it over another Troublemaker that could generate infinitely more value for 2 mana less?

The trick totem interaction is a crime against logic. If it's intentional and not a coding error, that's really dumb.
